    As I explore Phuket, Thailand I meet many friendly Thai locals. I show the beaches of Karon and Kata in Phuket, Thailand in this video and also discuss Patong beach (the nightlife town) and Bang Tao Beach, which is far north and a more expensive beach in Phuket, Thailand.

    Hi Jonathan, it is interesting to see that the friendliness of the locals is about the same in Thailand and the Philippines. It is more challenging traveling in Thailand with the language barrier, which makes communication so difficult. It is fascinating that even with the language barrier you can still communicate in other ways.

    • @travelescapesOFFICIAL
      @travelescapesOFFICIAL  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi Ben! These people I met in this video were super nice, but there's no comparison to Filipinos. Filipinos are a different level of friendly in my opinion hahah... Most Thais are nice, but there are still plenty of locals in Thailand that seem to be tired of tourism and aren't that friendly to be honest. I don't blame them though.. Thailand is super touristy and attracts some of the worst tourists.. most are probably good tourists, but some of the tourists are obnoxious and disrespectful, only in the country for pleasure & self-indulgence with no interest in respecting the culture, country, and locals. So I don't blame the locals for being tired of mass tourism in their country especially when they can't communicate with them. But as you said, there are other ways to communicate! but it can be a problem... I went to the doctor and couldn't communicate well... that's not good at all. Thanks for watching Ben!

Some locals are super friendly like this while others seem like they're tired of tourism in their country, and I don't blame them for that. I would be tired of tourism too if I were Thai. And then those people seem like they don't want to talk to us, plus the language barrier. I think it depends on the area you're in.

    Just a thought.... As you know it is really easy to tailor a TH-cam video to fit just about any narrative. When I watch your videos I get the impression that for the most part your videos depict real interactions with real locals. Sometimes while watching your videos I detect, a bit of a rub with the locals. Only natural I think, but for the most part I believe your interactions are honest and real! G'dam you are one lucky SOB! To make a living creating videos with different cultures, that are for the most part happy, healthy people. Wow, God Bless you, what a way to make a buck!

    • @travelescapesOFFICIAL
      @travelescapesOFFICIAL  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I prefer to show real interactions with locals in that place and show a bit of what it’s like to live there rather than highly edited videos that don’t give you the real feel for that place. I can choose to highlight the negatives in the world or the positives.. there’s already enough negativity in the world, so I’d rather make positive videos so we can all take a break from the problems of the world. I agree! It’s the best job in the world for me and I’m unbelievably grateful for it! Thank you for watching!!

    I live here for two years, and I've realized one thing.
    Thailand is called "The Land Of Smile". True. But here's the (real) reason:
    Businessmen and store owners smile because they'll take your money; you will eat at their restaurants, you will sleep at their hotels, you will buy some souvenir from their stores.
    Employees and stuff smile because it's their job and they are paid to do that.
    So, people don't smile at you, but at your pockets / wallet.
