    Well, that is weird! You could try putting it in a desiccator jar for a while and see if that changes the behavior.

    I read that many minerals fluoresce less at higher temperatures. Could this be a factor?

      I think oxidization may be a factor.. if this rock was not collected on the surface, and now exposed to oxygen then there will be a change in the mineral chemistry. Also try using a 255nm uv light. Your uraniam will glow BRILLIANTLY

      @@seanlewis8861 All the samples were collected on the surface, no digging required. On a later trip to the mine, we did some digging, but didn't find anything under the ground.
      Thanks for the tip about 255nm UV, I will take a look for a source of that wavelength.
