I was dancing in my bedroom to their early stuff, then left for London & worked for a company making the t-shirt artwork for them & be dancing in pubs/clubs to their music. The artwork was total chaos due to members leaving, etc! How wonderful that music can evoke such memories in people...The power of decent music ❤
I adore this song--since the day it was released. I think the thing that puts into a special realm of wonderfulness is in the 5th and 6th measure (in 4) after the percussion into. Such a common chord progression really, but there's just something about the production and how it's voiced and orchestrated that just makes it so blissful . I was really disappointed that this song didn't do better on the charts and, in America at least, it didn't get played a lot in the clubs I requented.. With the slower, relaxed BPM records, I like them just at the tempo they're supposed to be; this is one of the rare instances I think an already perky song needs to be given a boost--either faster or ? -- on the dancefloor. I'm probably alone in that. It's one of those tunes I'd rather listen to and enjoy the video than run to the dance floor. It's a marvelous song. I play it on the piano with a driving 70s piano rock feel, (my model for what I'm taking about is "It's Too Late" by Carole King . It works that way very nice; perhaps the Nana that wrote it played it that way... ? ya nevah know...Great work, Nick. You are the bomb-diggty. .. lol
