    4x4 Extreme Defender on Portal Axles and Rear Steer | alloffroad.com.au/
    The first time I take my new acquisition out in to the bush for a easy Drive around the Ourimbah State Forrest.
    The Defender is a rare 110 3 door Panel Wagon to ute conversion with Maxi Drive portal Axles which give a instant 5" extra diff clearance. The axles are laminated and braced for extra strength.
    The gear box is a Auto conversion to a 4HP22 with 4HP24 Internals. It has a LT230 Transfer Case with 49% reduction gears for low range.
    It rolls on 17" Bead Locked Walker Evans on 37" BFG KM2. Koni Raid shocks and Range Rover springs
    The Engine is HS 2.8 International with a variable Vein Turbo.
    A second radiator is mounted in the back to keep the engine cool.
    The whole truck is engineered and road legal in Australia

    I remember when this was up for sale! there is a company in Russia that do off road prep they have a portal axle bolt on for defenders TIBUS i believe.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +potentialreality3 Tibus is a German Company, however they don't seem to be made for the tough Australian condition a guy from AULRO had them and they kept braking after a year of mucking around with them he removed them again

    • @potentialreality3
      @potentialreality3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, maybe he was just rough? hahalol
      plenty of unimog stuff for sale on frontline machinery.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I seriously considered the Tibus, but all I heard was disaster, they brook only 5 minutes in the trip the the driver had a lot of Mechanic sympathy so if they break when looking at them not a option for me. Mog portals much better but quite costly to put them under and engineer them

    What engine is this running, sounds like needs a new turbo... bearings or play in the shaft cause that whine, had the same noise in my previous isuzu turbo, they can hold on for a long time like that but good idea to replace before it goes

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I noticed that as well again, I only recently had the cartridge replaced was good for a while but may really need a new turbo

    Congrats on the purchase Stefan. How long have you had Tiny for? I remember it was forsale a couple of years ago on eBay. From memory it was up for grabs for $32k which was a bargain. I look forward to viewing your future adventures with this rig. It just makes everything look so easy!

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +rpmwrx as far as I know it sold before I purchased it for 90k, have it now for a month or so still a bit work to do on it but she drives beautifully :-)

    The rear steer will help with parallel parking in Pitt Street ;-)
    Fantastic vehicle Stefan, I would have liked to have had more of a look underneath at the portals and the height they give you.

    Klasse Defender ,klettert wie eine Gemse! Darf man da "Down Under" überall auf öffentlichem Land fahren oder sind das offroad Parks? Ich hab jetzt ja auch einen klitzekleinen Portal Achsen Defender (TRX4) ha ha ,weil man ja mit den großen 4x4 kaum noch ordentliche Gelände hier in Deutschland findet!

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      danke, nee das sind keine offroad Parks es wird zwar auch schwieriger hier zu fahren aber gibt trotzdem noch viele National Parks und State Forrest wo wir fahren koennen...

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The complete portal axle including locker was around 25k per set, the flairs are Jeep TJ flairs

    • @nitishk9

      You mean €25,000 just for a set of portal axles?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no, that set including HD axles, Maxi Drive Diff Locks, laminated housing etc was AU$50000 for front and rear axle together so around 33k €

    Looked into a set of Axletech portals for my F250 but $7000.00 per pair is to steep. Especially because I can't do the work myself. To get them installed would probably be $20,000.00 U.S.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ken MacMillan yep portals are quite expensive, my ones are 25k per Axel hub to hub

      Marks portals on a VDJ70 series is $20k Australian plus.
      They are bloody awesome but for how much you really need them, I could buy plenty of recovery gear for 20k

      ginge da auch was mit steuerung proportional zum lenkwinkel der vorderachse? der zuschalter fürs gelände könnte ja in beide richtungen gehen, für enge kurven und andersrum krabbengang.

      Curious...a video with "rear steer" in the title and you disconnect the rear steer exactly in this video...also it's curious that the rear steer is always disconnected in all of your videos...but probably I don't see it.
