Yes... There needs to be a downfield threat or Howard needs to at least show consistency with mid range throws. Michigan is going to stonewall OSU with their DL and you'll need that threat in order to put up points and extend drives.
I agree!!! 💯 I was just speaking about that on another site. Another thing I don't like is that this defensive line has once again not been impressive. If you can't pressure Marshall, how will you ever pressure Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, or Alabama?
This podcast is SOOOOOO good => 20 years late => as i've been screaming, ranting and raving about this point even before Joe Germaine but our Media, Coaching Staff and Buckeye Nation haven't been able to grasp it => and so, we've let MANY NATTYS SLIP BY. For the general ignoramus => it's possible to win a NATTY without it (these gentlemen are still wrong) as several scenarios make it possible, I'll give you just one => the other elite teams don't have a viable Downfield Passing Threat either. So it's possible but why not incorporate what makes it likely and certainly more fun? Also, DO NOT SWING THE PENDELUM TOO FAR THE OTHER WAY. The sweet spot is BETWEEN Cardale Jones and JOE BURROW !!! PS YOU'RE WELCOME CHOWDERHEADS !!! I wish you would have woken up earlier !! MUCH EARLIER !!!
@jerrymeadows5059 I understand that, but they were poor on defense, and the offense isn't exactly playing clean football. If they did, I don't think there would be anything to worry about. If they don't beat Michigan, I'm on the get rid of Day train myself.
That's easily answered......to get in the HEAD OF FUTURE OPPONENTS. But in a bigger picture type of sense, which i don't believe you were alluding to => Ohio State should be balanced and if the opposition can't stop the run, we should do that all game long. If they can't stop dink and dunk => you do that.......if they can't stop a vertical passing threat, you dominate them in that way. Being limited in your attack ==> is KEY to getting beat, eventually !! PS i did NOT list every type of offensive attack GO BUCKS !!!
@@jerrymeadows5059 LMAO. Can you name any other team => that benched their Undefeated Natty Winning Conference Championship Game MVP ? Any other team in the history of football leave a Heisman winning Natty winning POY on their bench 3 years => who was the NFL’s No 1 pick ? Hard No. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. No one else comes close. I can go 30 deep just since Urban Liar/Oscar Meyer ! If there’s any chance to squander, pooch or snatch defeat from the jaws of victory => we find it !!!
I'm kool with WH as the QB. But this is why I wanted Cam Ward. Him in this system. Smh, but they don't have him. The problem is that WH isn't throwing the ball he's pushing the ball. He needs to step into his throws, or he will never play QB in the NFL.
They havent had to throw downfield yet, the schedule is cake. They’re also operating what, 50% of the playbook? Once they get to Or, hell, pry the iowa game to put something on tape I bet you see more down field passing. Why show everything vs their 1st 3 opponents? Maybe revisit this post oregon depending on how that game goes
I think JJ`s lack of experience showed in the pick, ALONG with a bad throw. JJ should have fought for that ball a bit more, and Howard should have placed in a bit better.

@@maboundry2you won’t. You’ll have to us a variety of exotic blitz packages.
@jimmy5634 Then, bringing back JTT and Jack Sawyer. For what? So that they can do as lousy as the last three years. Sorry, but I call it as I see it.
You don’t need a downfield threat to beat Missed-again. They don’t have one.
We have wideouts that Missed-again cannot cover, period.
Love it!
Sincerely your's,
Northeast Ohio!
2014 had Devin Smith and CJ. DS was a huge component in that title run.

Begging the question? What kind of setup is this? This is lame
