You know, I initially thought Gamera was only protectong the kids because he was 'programmed' to by those guys that rebelled against the population control thing. But when he fought off the reprogramming from the baddies, he choose to give his life for everyone, of his own free will. Shows how noble he truly is.
I really like that aspect to Gamera and most heroic Kaiju in general, there's a bit of mystery on why they do things and why they fight so hard for humans by instinct or higher thinking. Kind of like Monsterverse Godzilla though the latter's specific reasoning hasn't been revealed yet he was worshipped by humanity and knows of our presence despite his great size and time having existed on the planet. I personally think he does recognize humanity as something he likes having around and protecting, and its why when humans attack him he doesn't ever take it personally, the most he does is self defense or to eliminate the group actively antagonizing him.
I think barugon should be in season 2 because I want him because he’s a kaiju chameleon who shoots ice with his long tongue and shoots rainbow ray from his spines🦎

This series was pretty good. I hope we get another season with more monsters. Wish they did more with the implied link the kid had with Gamera though. They mess up all the Japanese anime with kids being the main characters there voices and everything they do is always the low point of ever anime..
Buddy half (if not most) anime was made to appeal to kids and teens, no different from American cartoons being made for kids and teens for the longest time until cartoons (and anime) started branching out to adults. Gamera's franchise was made FOR kids in the 60s, that has nothing to do with anime when kids have ALWAYS been the main characters in his franchise, even the more mature gamera trilogy had teens as it's protagonist.
Please don't act you have stories that have kids being mature for their ages, the iron giant was an American animated movie, E.T was a live action movie, both had kids as the main focus and both were mature, gamera rebirth or gamera the brave are in the same boat. Especially when you compare them to how cheesy his 60s flicks were
