Horowitz himself was criticized for being too flashy - not with antics, but by picking fast tempos to show off his technique. Artur Rubinstein on Horowitz: "He's the better pianist, but I'm the better musician." Anyway you should listen to music with your eyes closed: It's the sound that counts. I find this particular performance by Lang Lang unmusical. He pounds away, ff all the way, with a muddy, inaccurate bass, then uses an exaggerated rubato to bring out the climax, having run out of dynamic space.

Something is still wrong... i appreciate rubishtein but horowitz was not called the master of color tone for no reason he just had different taste but still his early age performances can be rlly ruined by innacurrare tempo but he had break into music career for about 10 years and when he came back he made the unrivaled music... im not saying that he is better than rubishtein but still horowitz is number 1 for me and i cant rlly accept that announcement i actually dont compare pianists but their musicallity everyone has their style its the most important... if they want they can imitate each other sooo easily its not rlly that hard stuff when u play piano all ur life and when u re world class but its rare to have ur own style and sense of music... some will like it and some wont but it doesn't matter we dont have to compare them so rubishtein is not better they re both equal but in their way
