Its too bad they opted to go so cheap for the board. I thought it was junk at Adepticon and it appears they didn't change their mind on it. They said they intended to have a standard board game board at Adepticon. They HAVE to at min make a neoprean map going forward cause no one wants to play on something that is creased.
The Recon box seen in the video is the basic box and has a paper fold out play sheet, the Spartan edition also has this sheet but also adds a double sided cardboard play sheet made from the same material as the buildings. This means that in theory you can have 2 games being played from a Spartan edition box as there will be enough models, terrain and mats to play with. Mantic have also announced that one of the first updates will contain new Spartan minis, they also have plastic terrain for preorder already and have mentioned a neoprene mat in production. They have also mentioned that any of their Deadzone terrain will be compatible (although may need to be painted up) and that this is just the start.

Not that this helps the retail/Recon edition, but the Spartan pre-order is supposed to come with a standard mounted board
Hopefully the spartan edition does. I did think the intro scenario side of the map was nice, it had everything you need to start on there.

@@StuartMacGregor1I’ve got a Deadzone starter that I almost rehomed, now I’ll be building the terrain to use with Halo at least.
