Thanks for the review Paul. Was looking forward to this set as I love my P1 Max, so both happy and disappointed with the results. Happy coz I get to save a chunk of change, but disappointed with the weird direction they took. 😂 My planar rotation should really cover most if not all of my musical bases - S12 Pro, P1 Max, Kiwi Ears Melody. The MP145 continues to be a tempting option, but it's just a bit too expensive for me for what it does, considering I already have my 3 sets. All signs point to me saving up for the big purchase this year - the Mega5-EST from Hisenior!
Yeah Mega5EST has been quietly gaining owners, a true slow burn of a set. I don't get P1Max2, they had a loyal following who were looking for an upgrade. But if you look at what they did on their T series updates, they seem to make life difficult rather than giving people what they want. They seem to be trying to be different for no reason.
@@PaulWasabii trying to stay way too ahead of the curve. I can imagine there is a lot of pressure to come up with something unique, considering the space they've lost over the last year or so. But yeah, probably ended up swinging way too far the other side of the spectrum.
If you want something with more apparent brightness. P1max lowers the bass level and slightly more treble so you end up with a brighter upper range. For me, I'd take MP145
Great video. I own p1max and love the sound. One thing I don't like is the nozzles. They don't hold the ear pieces very well. It slides. And this new version seem to have the same problem. I can't believe tinhifi didn't improve it. Could you please confirm?
Thanks for the heads up. 👍 I'm skipping this one. I kinda regret not getting the OG P1 Max before the alleged retuning. 🤷 Btw, I just got the Chu 2 and the wide metal nozzles bother my ears with most of the soft tips I generally use like the W1 and HS18. And, none of the other like the K07/08 and Tangzu seal well. Can you recommend some other option? Thanks
I am not the tip guy. I tend to use KB07, flipped KZ starlines, and Comply foams when those fail. People complain about foams, but sometimes they are the best option. I have spent a lot of money on tips to just come back to cheap KB07.
Hybrid is more popular, more variety at all price points. Planar is better overall, but there isn't one perfect planar. The previous P1Max was pretty close
@@PaulWasabii I'm wary of it, only people I've never watched got a review copy. HBB's the only one I know who has one that I can even trust. Maybe it's part of their tactic to make it seem alluring lol
You really should consider not using notes or at least keeping them from view. All you have to do is pause at 1:22 and save yourself 12 minutes. Not having a go, genuine feedback.
Mostly intentional, notes and lots of timecodes so you don't need to sit through the whole thing. Sounds counterintuitive to making money on TH-cam but I mostly send that money to other reviewers/developers who give back to the community.
Paul, I always follow your review and quiet a time subscriber but on this video I would like to comment hard and loud that you've been unfair towards letshuoer by bringing up their old tuning the S12, you should use their S12 Pro !!!
I was going for history and bounds. And yes S12 Pro is the preferred flavor. But I would also say that you aren't going to beat S12 or S12 Pro at their signature. S12 Pro found the right balance, most if not all of the recent planars have chosen a different path for that reason. The majority of people, who didn't buy S12P or any planar, want something more generally appealing. P1 Max 2 picked the harder path and really needed to nail the treble to compete. Otherwise stick with S12Pro

Better than my Hidizs MP145?

Same, that smoothed over lip looks great, but a bit of oil or gunk from your fingers will make it slippery

Hello Paul, which is better for music listening Planar or multi driver/hybrid?

@@PaulWasabii thanks a lot Paul I ❤️👌🏻✌🏻
Looks like a pass for me, you getting a chance to review IO Volare?
Doubtful but stranger things have happened as in they should tour a pair like that.
