Astro bot looks so cool. It almost looks like a combination of super mario sunshine and super mario galaxy and I couldnt ask for a better combination for my personal taste in the mario games.
Both PBZ and Wukong appear to have much more of that Ninja Gaiden feel as opposed to Souls games. Seems to be more emphasis on defenses, with high-aggression opponents expecting you to make good use of those defenses.
Especially after the “true” ending in Sekiro which is left on the ultimate cliffhanger. I mean I know it’s underrated but come on FromSoft….its one of your best games ever.
I love Monster Hunter Worlds and now I love MH Rise more due to the maneuverability in the game. I hope Wilds has the same system and our Dogs. Our dog companion by far the best edition to Monster Hunter

YongYea, Phantom Blade is NOT a souls like. Its more in line with Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, and its parrying is more Akin to MGR Revengeance. the only souls like aspect of the game is Map Design.
To be honest, not even sekiro is souls like on its core. The only thing that made it souls like were the death, save point, and healing system. There's no Stamina meter, no leveling system, you only use one weapon and that is a katana. If they removed the death and healing system then it wouldn't be a souls game. Even the director Miyazaki told articles the same thing
@godzilla4189 the devs can say whatever they want. We have eyes. Phantom Blade may have a couple differences from a soulslike, but much of the interface, gameplay themes, and level design is similar.
Super excited for Astro Bot. I couldn’t believe how much I ended up loving Astro’s Playroom so I’ve got high hopes for a full game like that. Excited for PBZ too of course 8)
I just want to give a design tip: If you're going to put a boss with an articulated chain weapon inside a room either: A) Make the room empty and big enough so the chain wouldn't get caught up in anything or B) Make it so the chain interacts with the pillars, columns and objects inside said room instead of clipping through.
Was very interested in Hyper Light Breaker, especially with friends. Gameplay looks good though it seems like it could use a lock on system. I'm also worried about a certain consultant group being connected to it, so I'll be waiting for reviews. As for the other games: Replaced, Skate Story, Neva, and Plucky Squire all look really interesting. Love that indie uniqueness. Gonna have to keep an eye on them for sure. Phantom Blade Zero also looks really good. MH Wilds looks amazing, but I probably won't get it unless my friends do.

combos aren't super complicated but there are combos but you're expected to remember those combos after being taught them in the tutorial as you wont have button indications on screen as you play after that

Dragon age origins was hardly open world. The maps were quite linear in progression and pretty small. There weren't big open areas compared to say dai, which people critiqued for having big open areas. Sounds like the "mission" based areas are more akin to origins than dai.

Awesome to hear there are other inspirations than just souls-like. I see many games taking certain elements from the souls games which is fine. But seeing many of these games now i feel like it can be an oversimplification just to say its souls like when there are many other games that developers pull ideas from as well. Being a souls-like only isnt as interesting to me since we have so many others that badically do the same thing. On seeing that it is a bit of a mix of souls and ninja gaiden though has my full attention. I'm much more here for that than just another souls clone.
So combat in Phantom blade is similar to Stellar Blade from what I hear here, that's good. Battle Aces sounds almost exactly the same like BattleForge from EA years ago, which is good because the game was really cool but EA ruined it very quickly.
