Quick correction on the Ondu Spirit Dancer + Anointed Procession/Doubling Season/Parallel Lives interaction. You wouldn't get 4 of your next enchantment. *YOU'D GET 9* The enchantment hits the battlefield. That's one. Then Ondu triggers and wants to create a token copy. But you have 3 layers of token doublers, so you don't get one token, not two, not four but EIGHT. Plus the non token one you cast makes nine. Stacking token doublers is ridiculously stupid and I'm all for it. PS: Those nine Nyxbloom Ancients would make every mana source tap for 19.683x mana
I’d like to see if Boon of the Spirit realm synergizes with planeswalker Niko, who creates enchantment tokens. Your creatures basically get +x/+x when you play Niko with it out.
Should work perfectly since the tokens ARE enchantments "entering" the battlefield. Doesn't mention casting, just entering, so there should be synergy. Good call on this one. I've been looking for more homes for Niko Aris, but it's tough with the white/blue vs. white/green mana of Niko.
Another great synergy with abstruse archaic is lithoform engine. Lithoform engine allows you to target colored stuff but you copy the lithoform trigger which is in itself colorless
The Archaic works with the ozilith when adding counters to it because it will generate two triggers to add X counters. But it actually doesn't work when moving the counters off of it to a creature, because it actually moves them in that case, meaning there are no counters to move the second time. The two abilities actually work in completely different ways. They are both copyable, however copying the second one doesn't actually do anything because it works differently.
122.5. If an effect says to “move” a counter, it means to remove that counter from the object it’s currently on and put it onto a second object. If either of these actions isn’t possible, it’s not possible to move a counter, and no counter is removed from or put onto anything. This may occur if the first and second objects are the same object; if the first object doesn’t have the appropriate kind of counter on it; if the second object can’t have counters put onto it; or if either object is no longer in the correct zone.

That would save mana I guess. But since Archaic is a creature, just use staff of domination with another object that makes mana in the sequence, and it goes on for endless copies. Why limit yourself to just 1.
I've got so many overflow Slivers I'm definitely making Slivers/Tyranid hybrid deck. SO thematic! A lot of these Enchantress bits are going to help elevate my Tom Bombadil build... and I've been setting aside Eldrazi and Planeswalkers cards for years. These Precons are the last parts I'll need for all those decks, but none of them will look close to the precons by the end of this week.

Jordan is very close about the old Planeswalker rule where “only one can exist on the battlefield” but actually, the way they used to work was if someone played one with the same type (ex. Chandra) already on the battlefield, both would actually die. It was a common practice to include Jace Beleren in decks as an “easy” answer (known as “legend ruling”) to resolved Jace, the Mind Sculptors because of how powerful the latter was in standard before it got banned in the format.
I thought it was like the world rule, where the last one survives and the rest die. (The world rule applies to World permanents, which are almost unheard of...)

Omarthis is broken in a Denry Klin deck. First, Denry puts tons of counters on Omarthis. Then Denry puts that many counters on each of the manifested creatures when Omarthis dies.
Darksteel Monolith is a standout in Heliod, Warped Eclipse - he has the setup for it with many spells letting you drop it for free as well as the payoff of letting you do so four times a cycle. Plus that deck is already stuffed with expensive colourless spells to exploit his wheels
Does narci really work with the flip-praetors? You already the first line doesn't trigger since you don't sacrifice those sagas. But the second line is about the Saga's mana value, and doesn't that equal zero? Or does it check the front side?
for me, this Chandra is a "win more" card. it is only good if you are already winning (have 3-4 walkers out already). composer of Spring is pretty sweet. it's a very good thing Leori isn't green. imagine blinking Oko over and over and you turn everything into elks. Titan of Littjara is powerful for tribal decks
1:29:59 Just want to chime in and mention that Forge of Heroes is not a good include for Omarthis. I mean, sure it'll add a counter on Omarthis the turn it enters to benefit its last ability. However, Forge of Heroes will not be able to put a counter on any other creature in your deck because it specifically says "target commander".
Fun fact, Guff rewriting history is actually why everything didn't get Phyrexianized the first time during Apocalypse. Bo Levar (him and Guff were my fav Titans and they better make Bo into a card) finds out that Guff knows the outcome of the battle because it is written that Yawgmoth wins. Bo convinces Guff to rewrite history which allows the heroes to defeat the invasion and kill Yawgmoth.
I think Rise of the Eldrazi, while obviously not as good as Expropriate, is pretty damn good. The triple colorless is the biggest problem, as a lot of decks can't reliably make that, but resolving one is going to put you so far ahead. It's an extra turn spell that I wouldn't mind too much being played against me since it is so expensive and not repeatable.
It's also, ya know... colorless? I don't understand the point of comparing a colorless extra turn spell to blue extra turn spells. The reason why it's so expensive is because you can put it in *any* deck, regardless of color.
Ondu Spiritdancer is my new staple card in my Myrkul, Lord of Bones Deck. So if I choose my Commander to make a copy token of a creature dying as an enchantment it will trigger the Spiritdancer when the token will enter the battlefield creating another token. So if he dies, I can get a token of him and then when f.e. a Devoted Druid dies, I can use Myrkul to create a token which then enter as an enchantment what then will trigger the Dancer to create another one. This way I got 2 engines creating me an infinite green Mana (as -1/-1 counters can be put on enchantments as they don't die due to no toughness).
I feel the ball was dropped hard with coverage of Omarthis, the problem with most of the things mentioned is that if you ignore his manifest then you building a big boi that when he dies just makes 2/2 and mills you cause most creatures mentioned were 0/0 and when flipped don’t enter . Like its an okay strat but didnt mention like top deck manipulation no sneaky plays like attacking with 3 face down cards to then flip b4 dmg into the likes of Blightsteel no silly flips like Leveler or the 1 mana 12/12 to get around there bad etbs
Boon of the spirit realm would be incredibly good in a Shrine deck. I own a Celestial Ancient, and It's really strong but I don't have it in the deck because I don't want 40 separate tokens to each have all different numbers of counters on them.

the second sequence moves no counters. But it does copy the ability. So first you move the available counters then you get the trigger again. If in the meantime you put more counters on the Ozolith before resolving the second trigger it would move those too. But you are correct it wouldn't necessarily double any counters. It would provide a different sequence though.
I built a Leori deck around cloning a planeswalker, either Chandra, Guff, Will, or Rowan. I've played a few games with it and my current record is 55,295 Chandras on board.
Altar is even better in the omarithis deck since the manifest cards are 2/2 and it mills equal to the creature's power. If you made 15 2/2's by sacrificing your commander then sacrificed the 2/2's you'd mill someone for 75 total. 15 + 60

Descendant’s fury is perfect in Rith, Liberated Primeval! It’s not really dragon tribal, but you run a lot of the biggest dragons like Utvara Hellkite and Atari’s, World Render.

The Ozolith and Abstruse Archaic don't work quite as described. You can indeed double the counters put onto The Ozolith, but you cannot double the counters it puts onto a creature, you can only "move" the counters once, the second time the ability would resolve it no longer has any counters.
Doubling the Ozolith's ability wouldn't double the counters. It specifically sees and moves the counters on Ozolith or on the creature. If you move all the counters from the creature or from the Ozolith and then go to resolve the second trigger, there will be nothing else there to move.
No, it would double the counters. Check out this bit from the rulings on the Ozolith: "The Ozolith's first ability doesn't move counters off the creature that's left the battlefield. Rather, you put the same number of each kind of counter the creature had onto The Ozoloith. Notably, if you somehow control a second The Ozolith, each one will receive the same number and kinds of counters that were on the creature that left the battlefield. Similarly, if the creature has an ability that triggers when it leaves the battlefield that refers to the number of counters it had, that ability will use the number of counters that were on the permanent, even if The Ozolith's first ability resolves first."
@@TheMasterGeese The first ability should be errata'd then because then it works similarly to Reyhan, Last of the Abzan despite being worded differently (i.e. "put those counters" instead of "put that many of the same kind of counters"). Thank you for pointing that out as it will affect my games going forward. So it's just the second ability that won't benefit from doubling then as it specifies moving.
Can someone explain how Abstruse Archaic doubles The Ozolith's counters? Because the Ozolith's doesn't say create new counters, it says move the existing counters. So when you go to resolve the second trigger, there won't be any more counters on the creature to move?

City of Death from Dr. Who seems pretty busted with Narci, Fable Singer. Assuming it triggers 5 times? I'm not sure how the rules work when the one ability triggers multiple times and is the last one.

One question to omarthis: I play Marchesa, the black rose. Whenever a creature with a counter on it dies it comes back at end of turn. I play a lot of creatures with graft. If omarthis and a graft creature dies they will both come back. Omarthis as a 0/0. The graft creature and omarthis see each other. The graft creature immediately gets counters put on her. Omarthis sees this and gets counters on it. Plus I can chose to get Accounterstellungen grafted on it. Question: Will omarthis die before it gets any counter, either through its own effect of through grafting put onto it?
Does the Ozolith copy really works? the card says "put those counters", and not put an equal number of counters... if the counters have been moved, can they be moved a second time? same thing for the second ability (Edit: ok that was explained right after :) )
Darksteel Monolith doesn't "cheat" a card into play. It CASTS the card for zero. This enables the cast triggers to work. Cards cheated into play don't get the cast trigger, which is why Eldrazi decks don't run the "cheat" cards.
Darksteel monolith is perfect for my Slobad, Iron Goblin deck and Composer of Spring works wonders for my Sisay, Weatherlight Captain Shrine deck. Lovin these cards.
Descendants’ fury got slam dunked into my Eowyn build - she makes expendable tokens with trample, and almost all the creatures are humans. It’s insaaaaanely good in tribal builds!
Mistform Mutant with Descendants Fury can essentially turn any unblocked creature into targeted tutor plays in a non-tribal deck. Goofy to start but gross if it works.
Very wrong about ozolith, ozolith says "move" the counters on it, not "put X counters on it where X equals the number of counters on the creature that died". So you copy the trigger, the first trigger resolves, and then there are no more counters on the ozolith to move.
Magda likes the new Darksteel. Especially when the stuff you want to tutor for is in your hand. I can go grab this and then play the thing in my hand that I really want.
Doesn't nesting ground's "activate only as a sorcery" mean that you cannot activate it in response to the final chapter of a saga resolving? So you'd be able to stop it from going to its final chapter repeatedly (so lets say, to keep it parked on chapter #1/3, but not #2/3) but not in response to the final chapter itself which happens after you draw? Or am I missing something... I see how that would work with Scholar/Hex Parasite, but am confused on this one. Thanks if anyone responds~
Little surprised y'all didn't talk about Enchanted Evening when you were talking about Boon of the Spirit Realm. For those of you who don't know, Enchanted Evening turns all your permanents into enchantments in addition to their other types... which means any permanent you put on the battlefield would trigger Boon of the Spirit Realm.
Before i watch: as a sliver player, Hatchery Sliver is probably one of the most busted slivers we've seen, just below The First Sliver. I've gotten a few games in with friends where I played it, and it wins games as at it's worst it is a 2 mana 2/2 that provides replicate to my other cards, allowing for awesome redundancy and effectively stopping targeted removal and counterspells. At it's best, you're paring it with stuff like virulent sliver which gives poisonous(toxic) 1 to all slivers, so you can give poisonous 4 to all your slivers instead. Or with hunter sliver, which gives provoke(which stacks), hell even galerider/cloudshredder is useful since having redundancy on your flyers is good to prevent loosing flying. All in all Hatchery Sliver is by far THE best sliver to have in the 99 and is insanely busted, so is hopefully mentioned based off the title
I don't see why Rise of the Eldrazi seems weak to yall. It can't be countered. To me it says destroy a permanent and draw 4 cards for free, since the turn you play it I look as a "blank turn" before my actual turn.
Abstruse Archaic can also be cheated a bit with The Peregrine Dynamo, copying its ability that’s already copying another (probably colored) ability. Trippy.
Dynamo is a silly, janky, mess of a card and I kind of love it. One I've kept an eye on for a bit so glad to see it get another synergy piece. Wondering if it can actually helm a deck now as a colorless goodstuff engine.
"Rise of the Eldrazi" just instantly slots into pure colorless eldrazi tribal decks. Even apart of the flavor, the deck just has a LOT of filler and chaff in the deck and this is honestly just better than so many other options they have. Colorless doesn't exactly get that many options.

Rise of Eldrazi is good because of the cascade cascade with the Commander.

Altar is even better in the omarithis deck since the manifest cards are 2/2 and it mills equal to the creature's power. If you made 15 2/2's by sacrificing your commander then sacrificed the 2/2's you'd mill someone for 75 total. 15 + 60

Descendant’s fury is perfect in Rith, Liberated Primeval! It’s not really dragon tribal, but you run a lot of the biggest dragons like Utvara Hellkite and Atari’s, World Render.

The Ozolith and Abstruse Archaic don't work quite as described. You can indeed double the counters put onto The Ozolith, but you cannot double the counters it puts onto a creature, you can only "move" the counters once, the second time the ability would resolve it no longer has any counters.
Doubling the Ozolith's ability wouldn't double the counters. It specifically sees and moves the counters on Ozolith or on the creature. If you move all the counters from the creature or from the Ozolith and then go to resolve the second trigger, there will be nothing else there to move.
No, it would double the counters. Check out this bit from the rulings on the Ozolith:
"The Ozolith's first ability doesn't move counters off the creature that's left the battlefield. Rather, you put the same number of each kind of counter the creature had onto The Ozoloith. Notably, if you somehow control a second The Ozolith, each one will receive the same number and kinds of counters that were on the creature that left the battlefield. Similarly, if the creature has an ability that triggers when it leaves the battlefield that refers to the number of counters it had, that ability will use the number of counters that were on the permanent, even if The Ozolith's first ability resolves first."

The first ability should be errata'd then because then it works similarly to Reyhan, Last of the Abzan despite being worded differently (i.e. "put those counters" instead of "put that many of the same kind of counters"). Thank you for pointing that out as it will affect my games going forward.
So it's just the second ability that won't benefit from doubling then as it specifies moving.
Can someone explain how Abstruse Archaic doubles The Ozolith's counters? Because the Ozolith's doesn't say create new counters, it says move the existing counters. So when you go to resolve the second trigger, there won't be any more counters on the creature to move?

City of Death from Dr. Who seems pretty busted with Narci, Fable Singer. Assuming it triggers 5 times? I'm not sure how the rules work when the one ability triggers multiple times and is the last one.

I hope Abtruse Archaic doesn’t get too hyped, cause I really want it for my U/W landfall deck! Getting ways to make multiple land drops outside of green takes a bit more effort.
One question to omarthis: I play Marchesa, the black rose. Whenever a creature with a counter on it dies it comes back at end of turn. I play a lot of creatures with graft. If omarthis and a graft creature dies they will both come back. Omarthis as a 0/0. The graft creature and omarthis see each other. The graft creature immediately gets counters put on her. Omarthis sees this and gets counters on it. Plus I can chose to get Accounterstellungen grafted on it.
Question: Will omarthis die before it gets any counter, either through its own effect of through grafting put onto it?
Does the Ozolith copy really works? the card says "put those counters", and not put an equal number of counters... if the counters have been moved, can they be moved a second time? same thing for the second ability (Edit: ok that was explained right after :) )
Rise of the Eldrazi goes nuts in my Magar of the Magic Strings deck. It might be the best card to get into the graveyard and reanimate
You could get all your chandra doubled in main phase 1 then double another type in main phase 2
I would like to add Descendants Fury to my Thraximundar deck. Sacrifice a zombie token, make Thrax bigger and get a good zombie to replace it.
Darksteel Monolith doesn't "cheat" a card into play. It CASTS the card for zero. This enables the cast triggers to work. Cards cheated into play don't get the cast trigger, which is why Eldrazi decks don't run the "cheat" cards.

Descendants’ fury got slam dunked into my Eowyn build - she makes expendable tokens with trample, and almost all the creatures are humans. It’s insaaaaanely good in tribal builds!
Some of these commanders are crazy
Mistform Mutant with Descendants Fury can essentially turn any unblocked creature into targeted tutor plays in a non-tribal deck. Goofy to start but gross if it works.
Might stone and weak stone must have blue and white in the identity due to the back side. So it can't go in colorless decks.
I feel like Narci can also slot nicely into any deck running Tom Bombadil as the commander.
Very wrong about ozolith, ozolith says "move" the counters on it, not "put X counters on it where X equals the number of counters on the creature that died". So you copy the trigger, the first trigger resolves, and then there are no more counters on the ozolith to move.

Doesn't nesting ground's "activate only as a sorcery" mean that you cannot activate it in response to the final chapter of a saga resolving? So you'd be able to stop it from going to its final chapter repeatedly (so lets say, to keep it parked on chapter #1/3, but not #2/3) but not in response to the final chapter itself which happens after you draw?
Or am I missing something... I see how that would work with Scholar/Hex Parasite, but am confused on this one. Thanks if anyone responds~
Correct, you can't activate Nesting Grounds in response to the final chapter.
Little surprised y'all didn't talk about Enchanted Evening when you were talking about Boon of the Spirit Realm. For those of you who don't know, Enchanted Evening turns all your permanents into enchantments in addition to their other types... which means any permanent you put on the battlefield would trigger Boon of the Spirit Realm.
They talked about the interaction later on when they came back to enchantment combos.

Before i watch: as a sliver player, Hatchery Sliver is probably one of the most busted slivers we've seen, just below The First Sliver. I've gotten a few games in with friends where I played it, and it wins games as at it's worst it is a 2 mana 2/2 that provides replicate to my other cards, allowing for awesome redundancy and effectively stopping targeted removal and counterspells. At it's best, you're paring it with stuff like virulent sliver which gives poisonous(toxic) 1 to all slivers, so you can give poisonous 4 to all your slivers instead. Or with hunter sliver, which gives provoke(which stacks), hell even galerider/cloudshredder is useful since having redundancy on your flyers is good to prevent loosing flying.
All in all Hatchery Sliver is by far THE best sliver to have in the 99 and is insanely busted, so is hopefully mentioned based off the title

I don't see why Rise of the Eldrazi seems weak to yall. It can't be countered. To me it says destroy a permanent and draw 4 cards for free, since the turn you play it I look as a "blank turn" before my actual turn.
Abstruse Archaic can also be cheated a bit with The Peregrine Dynamo, copying its ability that’s already copying another (probably colored) ability. Trippy.
We do actually mention that at one point later! I thought it was a really funny (if a little janky) way to use the card
Dynamo is a silly, janky, mess of a card and I kind of love it. One I've kept an eye on for a bit so glad to see it get another synergy piece. Wondering if it can actually helm a deck now as a colorless goodstuff engine.

"Rise of the Eldrazi" just instantly slots into pure colorless eldrazi tribal decks. Even apart of the flavor, the deck just has a LOT of filler and chaff in the deck and this is honestly just better than so many other options they have. Colorless doesn't exactly get that many options.
