We're finally ready to raise the roof over our Caravan and decking area. The cold weather is fast approaching and with two young children, a covered outdoor space is required!
We're Phil and Kayleigh, a husband and wife living in rural Bulgaria with our two children, Alex and Ember. It's always been our dream to live a more self-sustainable life off grid. So, we've sold all our belongings, escaped the rental rat race and bought a plot of land. Complete with a derelict house and 3 barns, we hope to create our new life mortgage free. We've faced lots of hurdles already, so hang on tight as we show you highs and lows of moving abroad and starting again.

Hi I am on the coast halfway between Burgas and Varna.
Tip for the future when using a stringline,,,cut 3 pieces of material the same thickness..osb or ply will do.100x50, or thereabouts. put one between the string and the post at the start of the line and then another at the end. This leaves the 3rd to use as a gauge for all the other points/posts. Avoids the possible interference points that can throw the whole job out.

Well done once more. With us the cold weather has arrived and we're wearing our padded jackets today. I would imagine the colder weather will be with you soon, so I wish you success in getting the roof completed over the caravan. I see foreman Alex is doing well.

Yes the cold weather is certain kicking in now. We cannot wait for the roof to be finished - but daily life often delays these things. ☺️
I am hoping you are more prepared for the cold than the snow. Its very warm still for this time of year it can possibly be minus twenty Celsius. A well insulated room or two would be very advantageous and save a ton of fuel on heating. All the best.
Yes and the temperature has certainly started dropping here. We live in our caravan as our house is uninhabitable and so are the barns. Who knows - maybe next winter our first phase of our project will be completed ☺️🏚️

@@jordanfrost7192 Every corner of Bulgaria is different and we would really recommend spending time visiting them all. What is one person's paradise is another's idea of hell. You can change a building but you cannot change its location. 👍 Good luck with your search!
Your chainsaw can use new chain:P for the torque it makes they are dull for sure :P happy birthday on your daughter ember
Actually, the chain is razor sharp I was using it for fine detail so was taking it very slow and steady.. one of my pet hates is a blunt chainsaw! 🙂
