स्त्रियों के गर्भाधान में रजोदर्शन के दिन से सोलह दिन तक गर्भाधान का समय है, जिनमें प्रथम चार रात्रि छोड़कर शेष बारह दिन के भीतर विषम रात्रि ५-७-९ इत्यादि में सहवास करने से कन्या और सम रात्रि ६-८-१० इत्यादि में सहवास करने से पुत्र होता है । किन्तु इसके भीतर पर्वदिन में सहवास का निषेध है ॥ १
