- In part 1, we check in with Kratos and Atreus after some years have passed while living in safety. All of that is ruined instantly when Thor and Odin walk onto our doorstep.

The only problem is this version of Odin is apparently a major liar and also Atreus seems to at the time be obsessed with his prophecy and being Loki.
Bro I doubt that, this Odin is a major MAJOR manipulative and cunning senile old man. He’s just wanting to keep Kratos out of the picture so that he can has his petty little scheme in motion
Idk I kinda think odin genuinely didn't want conflict with Kratos he knew for a fact Kratos was capable of destroying everything there.
@@childeaterieatkidz4208 He didn't want conflict with Kratos. He just wanted to pacify him, make him feel safe so he can kill him when he's not expecting. There is a reason Baldur was attempting to abduct Atreus in the last game. Odin wants to be the only one in possession of ALL wisdom and he sees Kratos and Atreus as a threat. Remember the story Mimir told of what Odin did to Groa, and what he did to Skadi.
I love that opening shot of Atreus carrying the dear. For a moment. It’s looks as if HE has the antlers. That traditional image of Loki …..

@@vickvick9440 no it’s not dude 😂 you can’t physically see the world tree but there is a representation of the world tree in tyrs temple. This was all explained in GOW 2018 by freya. It’s literally frozen over thunder from the leviathan axe and mjolnir clashing. Nothing else
@@TheGerardo136 Yes the world tree can not be phisically seen all the time but the world tree can be damaged thats when it becomes visible take for example Jormungander and Thor's battle when they fought they clashed just like this scene and the world tree was splintered sending Jormungander back in time. So basically when 2 very powerful beings fight and clash it creates a force strong enough to to damage the world tree and make it visible. Thats why Thor says,, This feels familiar''when the world tree shows up. He is referring to his fight with Jormingander
Why is everyone so surprised at Odin's look? I thought his appearance was pretty badass.
Some people expected him to be Zeus 2.0 for some reason.

I am a bit more surprised by his voice, it sounds kinda too... normal... to me. I don't know who the voice actor is, but he sounds much younger than one might expect for someone playing Odin. It'll take me a bit to get used to it.
I mean Odin was always despicted with the look of a Wandering Wanderer in the myths, the look is actually accurate.
Thor is voiced by Ryan Hurst (Opie from Sons of Anarchy). He did a great job.

The "holding back" Thor said to Kratos refers to Kratos killer power back in the original God of War. Kratos has been stopped using it to be a better father for Atreus.
What I find really cool about Thor showing up at the front door, is that it's exact same scene as the secret ending in GOW 2018. They gave us a preview and we didn't even know it haha
Different drip today. From what I remember, Thor before had leather armor covering his body.

@@frogsinpants haha no I think we all knew Thor would be featured in this game but, personally I wasn't expecting that they would use the same cutscene from the first and just add to it. I thought meeting Thor would've come at a completely different time.

Reading the Codex, I love that the big dealbreaker for Kratos not taking Odin's deal was him offering to get Freya off their back. Kratos killed her son to save her, and he's still trying to keep her alive even while she's trying to kill him.
In reality Odin has a bad reputation of being a liar and untrustworthy. Literally that's what Mimir advises when he enters the scene. "If he tells you snow is white, he is lying". I don't remember if it's taking to atreus or in the journal, but Kratos feels that no one can tell him what he can and can't do. He was never going to take any deal.
@@DXG4089 What you say is 100% true and that alone would be more than enough reason for him to not take Odin's offer - but I think there's something to what klemminguk says too - he willingly bears the burden of the pain he inflicted on Freya. His journal entry hinted at it - he views this burden as his to bear alone, and I feel like even if Odin WAS truly well-intentioned and communicated that, Kratos still would not have taken an offer to be helped. He's resigned himself to weather Freya's wrath until it burns out, or he dies.
Kratos showed a LOT of character growth since "the bad old days in Greece" in the first game - but I think this game it finally feels like he's gotten away from those days, and has come into his own as a powerful yet empathetic and moral man.
Figures its in this time that Atreus must go forth and stir the pot - and the Norse gods must come a knockin' looking for the man Kratos used to be, and no longer is.
(I'll bet this gets addressed as the game progresses, but I'm reacting to the game as I go here)

His first wife was pretty snarky and feisty as well. He likes a confident woman who can stand up to him.
Spartans, in general were tough as nails and that includes the women. I would imagine Kratos would be attracted to women that showcase strength of body and will because he's still a Spartan at heart and that's what he grew up with. So a giant woman that decapitates draugr with ease would for sure be "wifey material" for Kratos. (What dat axe do?) In fact, that might be a dating pre-requisite for him. If you don't have good technique on your axe swing when cleaving through necks, then you aren't his type 😂

Molnir CPR moment one of the best creative gameplay decisions ever. I knew I wasnt the only one to smile at that, judging by Marz reaction.

I got my copy yesterday and it’s a really beautiful game! I can’t wait to play more of it and see where the story goes and the adventures Kratos and Atreus share together as father and son!

@@mbarekzarra9742 I would probably get it in digital. To be honest, digital is a lot easier we’ll for me. If you want to wait and get the disc, then go for it. I don’t know when it’ll be available, but discs tend to store up space in your drawer or shelf. Digital will be stored on your PlayStation memory or external hard drive storage device.
Great game started yesterday. Lost my dog 3-years to illness. This is the second time this is made me teary-eyed, a lump in my throat and a hole in my ❤️.

This game has one of the most accurate depictions of Thor. Red hair, out of shape looking, with a gut is how he's described in the Eddas. I wonder if they'll have him riding his chariot pulled by two goats. 🤔🤔🤔

I think I mentioned this on your stream, but it warms my heart how very early on in this game they reflect the progress that Kratos and Atreus made in their relationship from the last game and intervening years. Stark contrast to the strained relationship at the start of the first game, where Kratos would hesitate to touch Atreus.
Omgoodness. That opening scene with Fenrir really got to me. I've lost two of my dogs like that in the last 5 years and I'm really praying I can keep my oldest boy that's still alive around for another 5 years. They've all been so big and loving, they even took care of newborn kittens(which I kept). Seeing a dog or any canid really in pain kills me. Now I have my one boy who's 10 and I got him a friend about 2 weeks before we suddenly lost his litter mate and brother. She was very young and I had to bottle feed her. Damn, I'm a mess wtf. That opening sucked
I've been bouncing around channels that I follow just to see who manages to maintain their composure during the 1st thirty minutes of the story. It's one hell of a gut punch.
It isn't really a gut punch. The first 30 minutes has nothing monumental besides Odin and Thor showing up.

The thing about Baldur is that he became the way he was cause of Freya, the spells she casted on him robbed him of the ability to feel anything.
The sheer misery caused by that was enough for him to beg her to undo the spell, but her refusal to do so out of fear of his death ultimately caused him to hate her as well as destroy his mind in the process, becoming insane.
In a sense, Baldur’s hatred of her and desire to kill her were justified.
That’s why Freya was more than willing to die at his hands if It would make him “whole” again.
I'll be starting my journey on this in the next few days. I'm looking forward to not only playing this myself but watching you play it as well. One of my favorite streamers to watch

You seem to prefer a streaming environment when playing a game which is fine but some games just aren’t suited for streaming. I think it be better if you record and post the main story, and stream the side content. But either way it’s still nice have a series to get invested in
This channel fell off really hard. I remember when she used to be one of my favorites when she used to care about what she played, now she’s just another streamer that pay more attention to the chat and donation while missing details, not paying attention to the characters, missing dialogue that goes over her head. Games like these should be played without streaming so you can pay attention and be fully invested in everything and like you said the side mission on streams. I hate streamers that plays masterpieces like these because they don’t pay attention to the games, then they start asking stupid questions that they already should know the answers and it’s just not good. I think the last playthrough I saw on her channel before I unsubscribe was TLOU2, now I got recommended this video and she is streaming it so nah…pass.
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 Facts. I used to watch her too. Until Twitch took over her life and that just made me physically sick to my stomach. I always say when they decide to play games like these on stream: don't play these kind of games because you'll ALWAYS MISS LITERALLY EVERYTHING.
Just stream the games' side quests or something, as well as multiplayer games stuff. Like stream anything that doesn't revolve around being emotional and invested into the world. Like stream strictly games that emphasizes gameplay with little to no story while record games with story as it's driving force.
But I know, i know we got a whole bunch of other let's players out there, it's an ocean, just look for the one and you'll be set. And the sad part of all this is I come back to the channel, scrolling to see if they made an actual video instead of a stream disguised as a video. I'm almost always disappointed by what I find. And it sucks too because she was one of my favorites back in the day.
Now, she's.... this. And i don't like it. But apparently a group of people do and I'm not one of them. And that's okay.

PS: I found her through her God of War 2018 series back in april 2018, that's how long I've been a viewer of hers. Don't know exactly when she went off the rails putting up streams vids on her channel, hence the '?' at the end. Also the last series i watched from her was TLOU2 too)

God of war is such a great game to me I got hooked on watching how differently or similar choices were amongst people,what made people laugh what didn’t. It was such a joy and now I can do it again with ragnarok

GOW Ragnarök literally has the Best opening hours in the Videogames' History and I'm saying this after playing & watching games for almost two decades. It gives you literally everything - Epic & Crazy Fights, Emotional Moments, Funny & Tense Conversations, a strange feeling of mystery, Jaw-dropping Environments accompanied by Godly Music which is Epic & Emotional at the same time... all this in a perfect way! This is truly a Godly Masterpiece... maybe even beyond that! 🔥❄⚡🐐

I loved Thor's depiction in this so much I made a D&D Tempest Cleric just to play a knockoff Thor--specifically THIS one. His character, development, transition back & forth between a man trying to do better & just simply being an angry drunk. Favorite new character in Ragnarok.

So far this game is beautiful and amazing.
I took the week of the week off of work when the game came out and stuck pretty much to the main story, and so I have that part of the game finished. Watching these playthrough episodes I'm noticing things that I missed, but now that I know the story and what is coming there are so many little things that payoff later. They did this in the 2018 game too. Santa Monica Studio is just so good.
Is that Faye's ashes Kratos is holding? I thought they scattered that into the air on the mountain? Fuck such a strong and sad opening off a game, getting all teary eyed again🥺

As for Thor, THIS is what I would imagine the god of thunder would be like. And the fight of him versus Kratos, the absolute definition of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
As for Thor's size...his mother WAS a Giant.
Love the design of both Thor and Odin. Richard Schiff was a great choice. I recognized him even before he spoke. And Thor was a powerful as he should be. Obviously holding back and still having to raise Kratos from the Game over screen. Gave me a chuckle.
