The story of the knife is so good. Gave me nostalgia to hear it as I felt very similar with my first sebenza. 7 years later and I have a sizeable collection but my CRKs are not replaceable with other knives. Absolutely loved this video❤
Thank You Erica for the Positivity and background on this knife that I Admired for sometime,I Love the groundbreaking work that went into it's Creation! I for One Admire it's Simple Rough Elegance!
Continuing my obsession for wanting a small sebenza. So in awe of your free hand skills. Yep, still working hard at my board skills. Thank you for being a consistent inspiration.
A Chris Reeves knife has been at the top of my "Grail Knife" list for about a decade now, it's tied with a Rockstead fixed blade as well. Someday I will own one of each, I've just never been able to justify spending the money. Anyway, I'm rambling again so I must digress. I'm glad you made this video, it's always good to see how a knife has faired over a very long period of time and the fact that you still love it says a lot.☺ Thanks, take good care and Cheers!
All the mom comments in this vid are hilarious! 🤣 I’m so glad you got your grail knife all those years ago, it’s such a great one!!! I love my sebenzas!
So funny to hear. Archmans review of the 21 when it first came out is what convinced me to get my first high end folder. s30v, pre Idaho made stamp version. One of the only knives I wish I still had.
Just got my first Sebenza 31 insingo magnacut and i feel the same way you do. I've hade a lot of knives and none of them compare to this one. Im in love with this knife
My experience with the small sabenza is almost identical to yours. It's been in my pocket almost everyday for 11 years. No more sand blasting left and you can tell how many times this thing has been sharpened. One of my most prized positions. Can't wait to get a magnacut blade for it when they drop. A good piece of advice. I once heard was to find something you like and buy 2 of them. The sabenza is definitely one of those items.
Hi Erica. My 21 came to me as a birthday gift almost 11 years ago . As you know the scales are numbered as to the year and quarter of manufacturing. Mine is 35 svn and well used ,so a new blade sounds good . I bought a spare one in 2013 but never really used it . The birthday knife is about when they decided to up the hardness. Of these new steels I think 20 cv is the best , but i only have three . Two three rivers and a spyderco. Steel seems to have a soul on some knives . Hard to explain but some stay sharp forever ! I have a 940 in 30sv that never gets dull . Did it get a little extra time in the heat treat oven ? Who knows .
I have a 31 on order and can’t wait. I recently handled a Zaan, and it’s incredible too. Have you ever checked out one? Thanks for another awesome video and yes, Mothers around the world are now extremely jealous! Love ya!
I agree with you about the S35, although it helped when they went to 59 -60 later. I'm also still using 21s in hopes of future magnacut reblades. Sebenza rules!
I enjoyed your story about when that knife arrived. I've done the same thing, had knives shipped to the shop where I work because I'm too excited to wait till I get home. 😂Have a great night, my friend!
Your my Archie lol I watched your vids before i got mine.. I actually won a raffle won a 800$ custom and Traded it for a CRK and some cash. Still obsessed... Thanks for all your info and Blue collar Reviews!!
Great video. I have a small Sebenza 21 as well. It is the the pinnacle of knife perfection. I totally feel where you are coming from. Mine is a plain Jane just as yours, and yes they are beautiful. My only issue was with the pocket clip. I don't understand how Chris could make what many consider to be the world's best folding knife and have such a shitty clip. That was as easy fix. I put on an aftermarket clip from MXG Gear and I love it. It is strong and retains the knife in my pocket very well. It also compliments the knife very well. I also had dual thumb studs put on it from CRK. I love it and will treasure it for life. Erika, thanks again for another great video.
Best Video EVER!!! I agree that the Sebenza is worth it. On a related note, the Hinderer is absolutely not worth it. I appreciate you. You give me the fizz!
Is getting the blade replaced a warranty thing or do you have to buy the Magnacut blade and then get to keep the S35VN as well? Great video Erica, I really liked the backstory part of your video!
Was there a special purpose for that hole on the inside scale of the 21? When you upgrade to Magnacut, are you going with double thumb studs, or do you find the extra stud superfluous?
@@ericasedc Sorry, I didn’t word that question very well. What I meant to ask you was, if you were sending a single stud knife in for service (for whatever reason) would you have it changed to double studs while it was there? Or do you use the off side stud so infrequently that you don’t really need it?
Might I ask what you did to get your drop shut action? Was it just years of use? I bought a small 31 this year, and though I like the action, I wish it were a bit looser. Thanks!
If people are constantly questioning your relationship status it’s because they don’t have a life of their own. The only thing that is important is if someone is a good human or not. Be happy and healthy and have a wonderful day
Love your vids keep up the great work and ty for your time just wish crk would make a model with m390 or cru wear not a fan of magnacut or s35vn waiting on a better steel then I’ll make the move over to crk until then I’ll stick with my chaves
So difficult to understand why some people are hung up with personal life or even thoughts about it. Its is depressing that a youtuber needs to comment on that issue. Cudos Erica. Stay sharp.
OMG!!! Where have I been?? I have to have a Mr. Nice Bar!!! And Nicole has a Twin?.? WTF??? Wish you the Greatest Happiness Erica...you are a real Catch!❤
Bearded gear - I will reserve comment so as not to violate policy… looking at a Chris Reeve IMO is looking at everything that’s great about America - made in America, great company, honest wonderful people, greatness and nostalgia!
Not to quibble but Chris Reeve is South African. He only became an American citizen in the early 2000’s. We got some great knife makers down here. Just saying. 😌🇿🇦
It won't be long now, Erica...the dam has broke, the water's flooding in & I'm utterly defeated...I'm gonna order a MagnaCut 31 (if I can find one). The Sebenza is the Elizabeth Taylor of knives: an innovative, sophisticated icon with a metric shit ton of sex appeal 🥰. I don't think I've ever had a knife grail before. Grail wrist watches? Definitely. But I've got a feeling that my hands just might be shaking a lil bit when I open up that 31 box 😀. Nicole Dodge has an effing twin? I didn't think that she could possibly get any cooler... I'm still in Phantom Twin Club lol 🤷♂🙏🙌
The Sebenza is nice but it just wasn't for me. That damn Babayaga that I had Ryan from Rmor Knives make on the other hand...Magnacut at 64 HRC and crazy thin behind the edge. Thing cuts like hell. I literally just rested the edge on a piece of meat and the fucker sank right in as if it were the tip. Batshit crazy sharp
Swahili? Many people, loved ones and others, wont get it. Its not how their brains are wired. And thats ok. I have gotten some non knife people interested in knives who probably never would have thought about them. Last Christmas, i got my supervisor a purple Spyderco Ladybug. She was ecstatic about it. I had practiced with it quite a bit as it was so damned small. I was able to show her how to work it and now she looks for things to cut. What a little razor blade!
It absolutely is. I've carried a large 21 exclusively since 2016, and being in construction I beat the hell out of it. I've sent it in once for a spa treatment for $25. With the matchless customer service and ease of self serviceability, it really is a worry free knife.
CRK are good knives but they are outshined by basically everything in their price segment. They are a $250-300 knife that sells for $500 based purely on hype.

The ka-bar is over forty years old and the Benchmade, well it is younger. Have a nice day dearie. Your response is, well it’s a response and let’s leave it at that.
