Your alot better at live key playing then Me, as I tend to play short elements and draw midi with mouse and stitch that all together in the DAW. Sometimes I cant actually play what I compose, as the focus is to make it sound like it was played in one take but its not.
Just fascinating, thank you for sharing. I’m a solo pianist and have always wanted to put simple bass and drums down to play against but I think I make it too complicated. This is really inspiring, thanks Matt!
Loving your vids man! I dig how you throw in little bits of theory. I’m interested in how you approach and use mixing in your beats, since I don’t know much yet, so I appreciated the little deep dive into the side chain compression bit! keep it up 👍
this is so cool. love that you gave the piano chords and showed how you Arp''d them. B section is so sweet. wld love to see how and what you played there.!
Thanks for this breakdown. I really struggle with structuring sometimes so this helped a lot. With the B section, did you use the same chords to improvise? I don't know music theory to well so I can't really tell lol
Thanks for watching and great question! In this track I used similar chords but introduced some new ones to take it to a new place. You can also use different chords that totally change the mood, just depends on the sort of colour you’re going for! Keep experimenting ☺️
Thank you! I’m using a Sigma 16mm on an Fx30 (recently changed from a6400) ☺️ also using a LUT from another creator which helps with the colour. Hope that helps 🙏🏼

@@mattwildemusic ah mate, incredible . tnx so much for that. !
incredible stuff mate! More breakdowns please!!! Also what are your go to drum samples for this style? they cut through so nicely in the mix.
For sure, thanks for the feedback! I’m not sure which sample pack these drums were from but check out Tamuz or Sauce Lab ☺️
hi Matt, really love your ins music content, the virtual keyboard in this video looks so clear, could you share the app or vst name, thanks!

how did you come up with the voicings for these chords?
It’s a mixture of feeling, melody and music theory. I break it down a bit more in another video ‘sometimes a b section is all you need’
hey Matt, nice track! Can I ask, what's the bass instrument (assuming it's a VST)? cheers
Sure! It’s by Teletone audio and is called ‘retrograde bass’ ☺️
Hey loved the vid! Just curious do you use a anamorphic lens to get your shots so gorgeous? Or is there something else in the process?
Thank you! I’m using a Sigma 16mm on an Fx30 (recently changed from a6400) ☺️ also using a LUT from another creator which helps with the colour. Hope that helps 🙏🏼
WOW! i have a sigma 16mm too! This has inspired me to learn to use it better ahah! Thanks :)@@mattwildemusic
Hey Matt,
Love your videos. I was just wondering which samples you use for your drums? as they sound great.🙂
Not sure about the samples in this video but I often use samples from Tamuz / Sauce Lab Audio ☺️
@@mattwildemusic ok sweet will check them out. Thanks for the videos your putting out 🙌🏻
How d'you like those aiaiai headphones?
They’re awesome as the ultra low latency means I can practice piano and create cable free too. Also use a pair DT990s which I enjoy for mixing ☺️
