A tale as old as time. Dad works hard saves money, leaves kid with everything. Rich kid blows all the money goes through a string of unsuccessful marriages.
History With Hilbert There's no justice in this life. But if you work hard try your best then maybe, just maybe you'll be featured in an animated video 500 years after you die.
I'm 'Enery the Eigth I am, 'Enery the Eighth I am I am, I got married to the girl next door, She was married seven times before, Every one was an 'Enery, she wouldn't have a Willie or a Sam, I'm 'Enery the Eighth I am, 'Enery the Eighth I am.
@@historywithhilbert Henry starting gaining weight after the jousting accident right? I remember reading about how tall and athletic he was. Very much like his grandfather Edward IV.
Oddly enough, I had watched the entirety of the SHOW Time not so miniseries called The Tudors - my husband and I were addicted to that show. Many years have passed since it was first on - and just a few weeks ago I decided to get a Netflix account and I watched it once again - as it was a very well done production and for the sheer nostalgia of watching it, especially since my Son Julien liked it a lot too - he was about 11 or 12 when it came out, since then my Son passed away at just 13 years old and my husband and I have been divorced for many years since the death of our Son - marriages these days hardly survive such a blow. Anyway, as I mentioned, I had rewatched it and I watched the last episode tonight... Then, I got the creepiest vibe since at the end, it read Henry the Eighth died on January 28th 1547 - then I suddenly realized TODAY is January 28th! Of all the days I could possibly have watched the whole thing and finished it up TODAY the exact anniversary of his death when I honestly did not pay attention as to the exact day he passed away - well, that's just plain freaky! Well, "Happy Farewell to this Earth Day" to one of the most notorious of Kings, Henry the Eighth!
I've got my mocks tomorrow - why didn't I find these videos earlier :D? Thanks for this content, this Tudor series will be really helpful for my real A level next year.
What is the piece of music used at 8:12? I couldn't find it in the list of music you used, and I'm only familiar with the tune from the Eluveitie song "Momento."
HenryVIII has a link to your Welsh flag vid. Due to Hal bringing Wales into a personal union with England we got cover and some would say hidden by the Cross of St George! The royal arms did have a Red Dragon support until that Scots bloke took over in 1603. Great video as ever.
Cenneth Adameveson Bringing?! Forcing more like. Why do you think his father never did that?! Because his daddy was a patriot and knew the Tudor line wasn't the rightful line of Wales, let alone England. Henry the 7th never considered himself as King of England and Wales! Just England. The rightful line of Wales was with Owain Glyndwr!!! Henry the 8th however was a traitor and with one swoop sold his ancestral homeland and it's history, culture and language down the river for centuries to come.
My 15th great grand aunt Anne Boleyn was quite the interesting woman. Without her and Henry, the world we know today would be very very different. Unfortunately for Anne, it opened the door to her own terrible end. But Cousin Elizabeth showed Henry VIII that a woman could be a queen. I love studying the Tudor Period and the English Monarchy in general.
Ahh, Henry the VIII a controversial figure, you did a good job of actually looking at the reasons behind his life. Often times people just yell that he killed and divorced his wives. There's always more to talk about on Henry VIII, but you did a very nice summary I LOVE HISTORY
8:57 appears a slight typo my dude. Says 1434 when 1534 is being discussed. Great job over all and I only mentioned it because your high video quality. Keep up the work man !
What's next, a ten minute video on Edward VI? If there isn't enough material for a ten minute video why not maybe a video on both Edward VI and Lady Jane Grey.
SUGGESTION for a Similar Topic Video: I would love for you to do a video that discusses his (charm) appeal or lack thereof. It still seems utterly inconceivable to me that any intelligent human being would want to steer far clear of someone that, had the power to murder and behead their wife. Yet, we know from history that women and others still vied for his attention and his acceptance Please consider exploring this fact. It goes w/o saying that with so many eyes and ears it, probably would have been hard to keep very many secrets within court walls. With that being said I am just curious how long after or perhaps for how long during the time of his nuptual-executions did, it take for word of his beheading reputation to spread throughout the countryside and into other parts of the realm or to other foreign held kingdoms?
Hey, great video for covering several years in 10 minutes! congrats. Do you happen to have any useful websites/ a bibliography to look at for further research?
Hang on, Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon after his brothers death, it wasn’t out of passion, they had to be married to sustain support for the alliance with Aragón
2 years late but thats not true. Ferdinand did not want Henry to marry Catherine, the only reason Henry married her was becoz he developed feelings for her it had nothing to do with alliances
Henry VIII was incidentally the first King of Ireland, unless you want to count the Gaelic High Kings like Brian Boru; I doubt they had as much influence as Coppernose, though.
The main foreign policy aim between 1509-29 was to gain land in France, explain whether you agree or disagree with this view could anybody help me answer this?
Killing wives is obviously horrific but establishing Englands own church and military was massive! Absolutely massive achievements that are sadly overlooked by his horrific treatment of wives.
A lot of these documentaries are very well made, however they are always very very kind to Anne. Let’s not forget this wasn’t some kind gentle great lady. She was what was known as a loose woman. She slept around in France she had a engagement prior to the king, then she strategically planned to split up the king of England and his long time legit wife. Then use that to cause a split in the holy church. Imo Anne got exactly done to her, what she deserved for doing to others. Her family killed many people including murdering those who was in their opinion to close to the king or if they paid them to do evil acts to keep it a secret they’d just have them killed. IE the boiling of the cook in the show the tudors that’s something that they would have had done. So a lot of these are to kind to Anne. Anne was historically known and famous person but the story needs told complete.
8:53"really upped his prestige on the international scale" what kind of prestige? He is in charge of a country not stronger than Poland. The battle of Spurs was a minor battle, on the European stage it was no way near the expectations around the Italian wars. His wars vs France turned to be a failure and brings bankruptcy in his country. Charles V consistently betrayed him...
Of course look at the Franks(Charlemagne being the greatest) , then look at the 13th century (we were even so powerful than we forced the Pope to leave Rome for France). Then the 100YW jeopardize our power but at the end we won and we are back again at the top only to lose it to the Habsburg in 1520s (I can't deny). If you are muslim/arab (I guess you are), you will see that this was France the main European protagonist during the Crusades (we lead 6 of the 8 crusades), even the Arab sources were calling the Europeans as "Franks"
France has been the most important power post-Rome France wasn’t even a country before 100YW. And while France has been influential after the 100YW, at no point has it matched the wealth and power of the British Empire....France should know, it saved you twice.
Never heard of Charlemagne? this was 600 years before the 100YW. Franks unified Gaul in 486, then the capetian dynasty will change the name and start the kingdom of France in 987, all this is way before the late middle age. The outcome of the 100YW was just a reaffirmation of king Philippe II Augustus kicking king John's ass repeatedly on a plate. As for the British Empire, I will agree with you from the mid 18th century, however from the time before I firmly disagree.

This Thomas Cromwell sounds like he won't ever have any descendants who are famous.
Not direct descendants, but Oliver Cromwell was a distant relative.
