Wow! I love that you were raised in a cattle ranch. I am a mother of eight and we are doing a mass exodus out of San Francisco didn't hear my whole life anyhow we bought a house in a small suburban farm town as well as 5 acres up in the mountains and my new neighbors are gonna be cows I can't wait I'm sure I can learn so much from you!
Ultimately, the best kind of decorating is having around us the things that evoke warm memories!

I'm with you on the cow prints. I grew up on my Grandparent's dairy farm. My job was to help round them up at milking time. I see these days sheep and cow prints are pretty popular.

I am painting walls and have been in the antique business for 40 years. I love to hang my art, although I need your help…so I will sign up for assistance I so desperately need to pull together lovely gallery walls. This couldn’t have come at such more precious time. Today's video is very serendipitous! Our house was built in 1910 and used to sit on a dairy farm. It must have been so loved because when the farmland in this area was divided to become a residential area, this house was sitting in the middle of what is now a main street. It was moved to its current location about a block and a half away from its original location in 1979. I hadn't thought of placing a picture or some element to honor its past. Thank you for the inspiration! Note: OMG...I live in Portland but was born in Michigan!

Loved watching you creat your picture wall. So interesting your cow story of being raised on a cattle farm. When I was a little girl my pony Honey got loose & ran down highway "99", I bet you know about this road since you're near Seattle, and survived. My family then got acreage & moved after that experience. But we loved country living & I do still to this day. It's so great to have your stories on the walls. This is kindof funny but what I liked best of your displays there was that brush & it's expanded bottom. It just looked chewy. I don't think I've told you this before but your cite is so inspireing

Sheila McDade in Chattanooga, TN here . . . I have a thrifty craft to share with you-- I made a barn square using an old piece of plywood that I found in our shed. [The history of American barn squares can be tracked back almost 300 years to immigrants from Europe!] The one I made is about 3 feet square. I googled "barn square" and found a design I liked. Then sanded the wood and sealed it with a white base coat of paint. Then penciled my geometric design on it and painted it with 4 colors. Frog Tape made it so easy to paint straight lines. I emailed a picture of it to the Frog Tape company, and they put it on the front page of their company-wide monthly newsletter! How cool is that? For your FARM HOUSE/ENGLISH COTTAGE style instead of using bright colors you could do white, grey, green and natural wood and then age it with one of your techniques. It would be cute on your porch, garage, or even as wall art if it is a smaller version. I put mine on our shed and made another for my back porch. I just started looking at your youtube videos and can't stop! I am homebound right now with an injury and you are filling my days with ideas! THANKS. P.S. I wish I could join your Bible study class. Our 1820’s home in Old Town Alexandria, VA also has a fireside room. I believe the fireplace was original to the kitchen but at some point another kitchen was added onto the back of the house. The brick fireplace is still there but it now has openings in both the fireside room and the kitchen. I love this feature and it’s very functional. I wanted to tell you because I can visualize your fireplace converted into one like mine !
Somehow I new you were going to take that cow painting! I would’ve too. When I first bought my house I had a farm theme. Cows, pigs, chickens and roosters. Now it’s just roosters.

Love it as usual! I also love cows. I rode my grandpa's milk cows home when it was milking time. I had to hop on while they were layjng down though. I now love horses and have them instead. The pictures of family are a treasure! My family was Amish so I have very few.
The brushes I didn't get though. Really liked the broom hanging up in a previous video. I have done the same!

So timely. I’m in the process of doing a gallery wall
Lovely. The key, I find, is that thin line where too much is overdone. I just acquired, for free, a beautiful, ornate hanging gold mirror but I am struggling where to put it in my home. Adding it in anywhere is my rooms upsets the balance and "just right" quality I think I have in my decor. I would have take away something to fit the mirror in, and I love everything I have that I don't want to do that. So, I am storing the mirror until inspiration strikes.

I love the vintage cow pictures. I moved to Idaho last year and have fallen in love with the Scottish Highlands around here. I’ve started collecting cow pictures and farm scenes. Sarah, I have been enjoying your videos for about a year now. Not only do we share a name, but I too have four children and homeschooled them. I would love ideas on styling more recent family photos. The aged ones of great grandparents, etc. fit the decor more easily than pictures of my own children.

My in laws and my husband and I have both owned professional painting companies for the last 40 years and have worked all over the Pacific Northwest, old paint brushes will always be sentimental to us. I understand if they aren’t part of your story or decor.

Did you get your lamp behind you at an antique or estate sale? How did you do the shade? I tried to find it on your site but I don't see it.
How did you do the framed glass with sheet music? How is the glass attached to the frame? Do you play the piano?
That was a frame I purchased that you can add your art to. The art is sandwiched between two glass panels already attached (soldered, perhaps) to the frame. Then the frame hinges on one side and has a small latch on the opposite side to keep it closed once you add your art in.
This frame specifically is from a previous season of Joanna Gaines’ line. I got mine at goodwill with a broken chain, but I’ve heard that you can find them on ebay still.
