Thanks for the video! I'll be definitely checking this one out, now that you've confirmed that it has a "story" mode. While it might take away from the experience, as an option, I'm glad that it is there...
Thank you for watching! I felt the same with SOMA's no-monster mode, though I still wound up playing it for the first time with enemies included. It's definitely nice to have the option, though!
One thing that Bloober Team has excelled at is the presentation. I've not seen anyone do this good of visual (color composition, effects, level tricks) and audio in the "walking simulator"/adventure game space. Observer looks next-gen at times. Good to see it happening well in Layers of Fear 2. I've actually not heard about LoF2 much actually, so this video was a great look into the game. The chasing monster problem has existed in narrative based adventure game at large and I've seen it work decently is rare few cases (like Detention). Great video, and glad to see you back.
I discovered your channel a couple months ago with an old FF14 unboxing, and subscribed in the hopes that you would come back since I loved the deep analysis in all your later vids, and high quality of the narrative. I'm really glad to see you came back, besides I haven't found other game analysis channels produced by women, I hope it doesn't come out weird, but it is a breath of fresh air.
Thank you for this review and for coming back! You pointed on enough artistic nuanses that made me interested in this game. It seems complex and I think playing with color to simbolize something in this game is amazing. And thank you so much for keeping talking about soundtracks in reviews! I think I will go through Layers of Fear games and Observer! Thanks! 🙂
You're back, I haven't watched your stuff since the early 2010s. (I remember those old videos with your dad in it, how is he these days?) I enjoyed those videos back then and am glad to see you here.
I'm stoked that you're back and as cogent and enrapturing in your analysis as ever. As is often the case, LoF2 sits outside my tolerance for horror but I'm now eager to watch a playthrough of it and experience the story and visuals at least vicariously. Thanks for putting in so much care, it really shows.
Just wanna join in the chorus of people chanting "you're back?!" 🤯 I was worried about you, Noa! 😅 Always loved your perspective on games and which ones you pick to highlight.
I had a sense that I should check this channel today. Glad I did! I have a question. For your Patreon would you be okay I fulfilled the remainder of the $500 goal, but only for a month? I don't know if I could sustain that for longer. I'm just trying to see if that would actually help you in your goals.
I am grateful for any and all support, whether it be a comment or a donation over on Patreon. And while that is incredibly generous of you, I don't feel it is my place to partake in your decision. If you wish to support my channel please do so in whichever way makes you the most comfortable -- in truth I am just glad people watch my videos :) On that note, thank you so much for watching!
@@CritiqueQuestGames Yup, sounds just like you :P... In all seriousness, a voice like yours, articulated and insightful, is much needed in this vast sea of mediocrity that's called "video game reviews".
Oh nice to have you back ! Are you still working for rps by the way? I remember being happily surprised by the announcement but have failed following much over there. I know rps has changed so much, I'm a bit lost on it.
@@CritiqueQuestGames I've never completely recovered from Jim Rossignol leaving rps honestly. His unbridled endless speaking about s.t.a.l.k.e.r was a great trait indeed. :p
I had a great time with the first one. I get how it might not be everybody's cup of tea but I'm all for games that have a strong atmosphere that you can let yourself sink into without adding the player to dedicate 100+ hours of twitchy action gameplay, too old for that anymore honestly. I have a feeling I'll thoroughly enjoy this one as well. Great review and you got a new sub! 👍
@@CritiqueQuestGames sadly I haven't played any of their stuff but I'm totally gonna get the Observer cause I need my cyberpunk/Deus Ex fix .thanks for reminding me about that game
I think it shipped within a few months of Blair Witch(also Bloober Team), so maybe a lot of the advertising push was aimed in that direction? If you do play it though, I hope you enjoy!
Well shit, SSoHPKC came back, Meg came back. I've been trying to hunt down your Shadow of the Colossus video for a nostalgia hit, but I think you privated it for some reason. XD
Damn, normally I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to games like this but I may have to give these a shot now - especially if its got Tony Todd in it. Great to see you back by the way!
If it's Tony Todd, it's definitely worth it (*cough* Final Destination)! Bloober Team have done such a great job hiring voice actors. Thank you for watching!
Woah woah you're back ?. You got me into so many low-key games glad I kept the sub.
I low-key hope I can introduce you to more!
Thank you for sticking around :)
@@CritiqueQuestGames i would love you to review Doom Eternal, if you're into that type of Game that is !!!!
Wow I almost cleaned up my subs yesterday but I was like man I hope you come back and boom less than 12 hours later you're here 🤣 great video!
My ESP was off the charts - thank you for watching!
@@CritiqueQuestGames hoping you come back some day to make another wonderful critique

@@CritiqueQuestGames In a way it convinced me to try FF14 out, havent looked back since then. 🖤
You're back! I'm glad, your videos are very well made. This critique was really nice!
Thank you for saying so, I appreciate the support!
You're back!! And my friend just recommended Layers of Fear to me last week. Great timing :)
I hope you enjoy it!

2:24 "famed critic Noah Wensley", that's a freakish yet happy coincidence.
Not sure about famed, but now you know my secret. I exist within the fictional worlds of video games...but always as a reviewer!
The graphics & atmosphere are really drawing me into it
Bloober Team have consistently done a great job nailing mood in their games. They have a great art team

I may play this game now. It does seem to have interesting ideas even if I enjoyed but didn't love the first game or Observer.
Best youtuber Beautiful voice great video's. Thank You for all the work you put into these video's. .

How's your dad doing Meg? I used to watch you guys way back when you'd discuss Asian horror movies on the couch, haha. Was the cutest thing.
What a great review of this great game. That is all.
youre back! did life happen again?

Lily and James? As in Potter? Huh.

You are wonderful, but this game is massive drop in quality to the first
I think the remake fixed your issues with the game
