Dani Harrison did a great job. To some he sounds nervous. For the people who knows him, Dhani is passionate and spoke with his heart. Jeff Lynne means so much to him and even more since George passed away. Dhani will do the first part of Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Summer Tour in the US and Canada...I already have my tickets to see the best show in the world this year.
Hearing Dhani opening his heart wide, apologising that he was the speaker ~in place of his father George Harrison~, inducting the ever brilliant ELO/Jeff Lynne for their contribution to music was quite moving. Dhani is an Englishman, so his emotion and enthusiasm tempered by good manners recounting boyhood memories of his father, ELO, and music was not ego fueled swagger, tedium, or nerves; but was joyful, energetic, and a loving speech. Seeing Dhani's eyes dance whilst he expressed all that was in his mind was delightful, he was every bit the musician and a gentleman that evening. When Dhani's voice was near breaking point about seeing Jeff Lynne's steady blue eyes over his glasses, helping him to work through his musical obstacles, tearlets came into my eyes. Watching Jeff's reactions to those thoughts was nicely done; beautiful really. A well spoken expressive human being, Dhani is.
This had to be the most emotional I induction to the hall of Fame the fabulously incredibly talented underrated Jeff Lynne and ELO How proud was Jeff of Dhani Harrison and you know George was there in spirit he will carry on his dad's legacy another brilliant talented musician George Harrison the quiet Beatle and you know Jeff's like a father to Dhani isn't he? I just wish it wasn't cut off @ the end isn't there a part to when Jeff received the award?
Another is that they let bands choose who to induct so bands can be very spiteful So when Fleetwood Mac were inducted they excluded Bob Welch who was there at a crucial moment as the group moved away from being a blues band But in relation to ELO Wood is picked (and he was there for about a year and a half) but Kelly Groucutt who was bass player for eight crucial years was excluded
Jeff Lynne is an under-appreciated musical genius of our time. The depth of ELO's music is astounding. Few people recognize what a wide composition of musical styles and influence that Lynne's music pays tribute to. It speaks to the beauty and tribulations of the entire human condition - hardship and perseverance, nature and spirituality, love and rejection, romance and heartache. In addition to ELO's many hit singles, many of their songs actually blended into intricate rock concertos on their albums. If you have not experienced them, please give a listen to "Concerto for a Rainy Day" (subtitle of the full 3rd side of the Out Of The Blue album) or even the Eldorado album. I was a die-hard ELO fan from back in the day, while my friends couldn't see past artists like Ted Nugent. This induction was long. long overdue.
@ Fuck off, Dhani knew Jeff Lynne as a person better than most people there, worked with him to finish George's last record, has played concerts with him and most importantly, I can assure you that George himself would've been as nervous as Dhani doing the speech, and don't tell me that George didn't have the "credentials" for this. Speeches are more meaningful when they're done by someone who shares a strong connection with you, and you can tell that's the case with Jeff and Dhani
Dhani’s speech was great! I’m one of the 1st ones to begin the audience cheering when he brought up “Back to the Future” since we knew its star was in attendance. I was so happy the rest of the crowd followed suit! I was close, but not close enough to see the very touched look on MJ Fox’s face. Thank you, Dhani, for allowing us to thank him!
Without any of the string players. They'd be Mik Kaminsky, Hugh McDowell and Melvyn Gale. Makes absolutely no sense but that's the Rock and Roll hall of fame for you.
Dhani Harrison...no notes needed...most passionate enthus iastic and straight from the heart ...for ELO...and Jeff...your dad is smiling down...good on you man!!!!!
Agree. D’Hani spoke with such passion and vivid memories of his first concert and introduction of Jeff. I was blown away by his skill as a raconteur. Brilliant job!!
Dhana, you are a beautiful soul. Thank you for this sincere introduction, and congratulations to Jeff Lynne and ELO - they provided the soundtrack to my childhood!
George Harrison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are 3 of the most talented musicians and best friends throughout it all. With friends like that it's no wonder these men created some of the best music ever.
What wonderful memories Dhani has of his beloved father. He is an awesome image of his father. I love his stories as being told by a 7 year old child, wonderful!!!!!!☺️
Dhani. You always do your father proud -- an extraordinarily difficult job. I find you wholly genuine, credible, beautiful, talented, and best of all, cognizant of the meaning and stature of your father's work to him and to those of us who loved him. Thank you. And bravo to your father and mother -- they did a really good job. You live up admirably to your father's legend. I salute you.
we love you Dhani... u are ur fathers son... and we see u being as good as he was... good luck in your carreer Dhani... lots of love to you and ur mom Olivia XXXX
Great introduction by Dhani. He’s certainly inherited his father’s charm and since of humor. When ELO released Roll Over Beethoven I thought that it was the second coming of the Beatles! What an incredible band!
Sir Paul, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Joe Walsh, these are not musicians that needed a lot of help, but they just needed Jeff - well Said, Dhani. This is just the magnificence of Jeff Lynne!!
If ANYONE deserves a Nobel Peace Prize it is Mr. Lynne. His music and concerts make the world a better place for everyone and anyone that experiences them. He gives us far more than we have ever given him. Let's get this done and then we can say: All over the world, Everybody got the word, Everybody, everywhere, is gonna feel tonight! I have learned a lot from both Dhani and his father. This video taught me that you can deliver a brilliant speech, and be terrified out of your mind at the same time! 😂
To many of his peers Jeff Lynne is the very best ever...Most versatile musician, singer, songwriter, producer and most humble man in pop or Rock. See you Jeff Lynne's ELO in concert in 2019!
Dhani is such a great guy! He was so nervous! It took him forever to announce.ELO. I would love to meet him. George would be so proud of Dhani. ELO is a great band. They certainly deserved the award. Jeff is so talented in so many ways. He is a one man band. ❤️🌹❤️
Dhani did a TERRIFIC job here, with so many insider references and so much humor. And Dhani has his father's voice, so much. So pleased that Roy Wood was inducted.
MY BAND! Love them sooooo much. My first big rock concert when New World Record was released. Damn, they blew me away. Do Ya love these guys as much as I do? Roll Over if you do. Classical instruments rocking as hard as a Les Paul plugged into Marshall cranked all the way up. They were already in the Hall of Fame of my heart and always will be. They cast a spell of Strange Magic over me and it’s been Blue Skies every since, at least musically.
What a beautiful tribute l,not only to ELO, but to his dad as well. It brought tears to my eyes. I think he looks just like his Dad. It's evident how he felt about his Dad and Jeff as well. I'm so glad I got to watch this. Thank you .
*My dear, dear pal Jeff Lynne...* Sir George his Dad I'm sure was smiling @ his talented son from Heaven w/the biggest grin ever! Congrats ELO for making the R&RHOF!!
Dhani is like Sarah Lee. Nobody doesn't like him. John Lennon said that if the Beatles had continued, they would have sounded like ELO. That's quite a tribute!
Jeff was recording with his band at the Abbey Road studio's at the same time that The Beatles were recording 'The Beatles' in 1968. That was the first time he met with them and he was knocked-out. John later said that ELO were the 'sons of The Beatles,' which probably meant that they had learned one or two things about the creative process...
Just the sweetest, most honest and heart felt speech ever. Dhani is clearly nervous, excited and emotional about having the honor of inducting ELO and he has good reasons for being so. It's wonderful to smile as he speaks for it is so clearly from the heart. Jeff Lynne did so much for Dhani after his father died that it's only appropriate that Dhani do the induction speech.
ELO is legendary and widely appreciated thru out our planet, can't get them out of my head music that Jeff Lynne gave to us, thanks from the heart for such wonderful sounds.......#kag2020
Who wouldn't be just a bit nervous while inducting the likes of ELO into the Rock n Roll HOF. I cannot even imagine the life Dhani had growing up...and he's taken it in with grace and love. What a wonderful human being.
The way he described his first ELO concert. He was 7. So he described it seeing them at 7 for the first time. And any thoughts he had came from THAT AGE AND TIME!!!💖💖🌹❤️

Have loved Jeff Lynne, since before I had my own money, to buy records. Got backstage in 1977, somewhere in Germany!!!!!!! Mr. Lynne gave me the last pick he used, since it was still in his hand... what lovely, humble human beings. And I was SO mature and composed: laughing, crying, hugging Jeff and Bev and several members not honored, here, and blubbering “ I’m you’re greatest FAN!! “
I don't know why but this brought a tear to my eye. Jeffy Lynne is up there with the Beatles and Brian Wilson. Jeff deserves the title of musical genius.

Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra from The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame site: "Picking up where the Beatles left off, ELO expanded the concept of great melodies, epic song structures and grand orchestrations. ELO added an exciting mix of elements into rock and roll, including disco rhythms and electronic studio wizardry. Imagine a marriage of tuneful, rocking pop songs with instruments from the symphonic realm, and you’ve got the blueprint for what made ELO one of the most popular groups of the 1970s and beyond. Jeff Lynne, ELO’s vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, co-founder, and frontman, conceived of a rarefied musical sphere in which cellos coexisted with guitars, and where classically tinged progressive rock intersected with hook-filled, radio-friendly pop. The result: ELO’s boundary-breaking approach to rock that resonated with a global audience, both as a pop singles act and as album-oriented rockers with deep-track appeal".
Beautiful Dani. Of all the Beatles children he is the one who look the most like his dad. Second would be Julian. That aside, he is nervous but every word is unscripted, original and spontaneous...brought tears to my eyes. God bless him and ELO!
Dani Harrison did a great job. To some he sounds nervous. For the people who knows him, Dhani is passionate and spoke with his heart. I went last year and have tickets for 2019 Detroit! I'm excited to see Dhani!! Elo is so amazing. I was so impressed!!
I just saw ELO, in Philly, with Dhani opening. Then he came out to do Handle with Care by the Wilburys! It was phenomenal!
Just attended this past Saturday's show (2019/07/27) in Chicago and loved it. Both Dhani and Jeff's ELO sets were incredible. Such a great night out!

Dhani has a great sense of humor and is a natural story teller. What a wonderful creative mind!
The most astonishing thing is it took till 2017 for ELO to be inducted. And in that lies the huge problems with the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Yes, very true!
Another is that they let bands choose who to induct so bands can be very spiteful

But in relation to ELO Wood is picked (and he was there for about a year and a half) but Kelly Groucutt who was bass player for eight crucial years was excluded
Cheap Trick in, Jethro Tull out... Enough said.
It's just like high school. Nothing but a popularity contest. IMO it's all BS!!
So many bands who should have been voted in years ago, and no sign that they'll even be considered...

Que grandes la ELO recuerdos de mi adolescencia Jeff 🤗
Beautiful story, well said.
Beautiful Dani. Of all the Beatles children he is the one who look the most like his dad. Second would be Julian. That aside, he is nervous but every word is unscripted, original and spontaneous...brought tears to my eyes. God bless him and ELO!
