You should also consider talking to smaller vendors. Their pricing is MUCH lower. Just from going to RAP NY, you can get a Chicago/Sunburst in the $300-$400. Give folks options.
Must be going colorblind over at TSA if they call stock standard green torches for holy grails. Those are the LEAST yellow holy grails i have ever seen its actually laughable
I think it's a fantastic, fun, and informed idea. Thanks for sharing it. But yes, I'm in the crowd of classic coral lovers; despite being a new reefer. I don't chase fancy name (and I honestly prefer binomial nomenclature), and the ones I'm most interested in acquiring are the 10, 15, and 20 year proven performers in this hobby. All the names I've been reading about and that reefers swore-by. The Milka stylo, GC's ultimate efflo, the Oregon tort, ORA's Red planet or Hawkins, Palmer's Blue mille, the red dragon, the strawberry shortcake, Leng Sy's Cap, the Tri-colored valida... Ya, that list. there's a good four or five dozen or more on that list, and chasing the proven winners is what I want to do as a new-er reefer. But knowing what's trending is great information, thank you for including both the new hot-sellers and the classics. I hope you continue the series and help keep the rest of us better informed.
I recently installed 30 acropora from Euro Corals. The month after my last purchase, they change their strategy, the names changed back to science and the prices dropped 30%. I must have funded them enough for the change. Every frag from EC is healthy and growing. Technically, my tank is full, but I'm sure I can find places for a few more.
