    I love my Hyperion max. They are just how shoes should be. Sure footed and comfortable. You feel like standing on a sound base with good soft foam.

      Yes totally agree. I feel grounded in a way I don't with most of the other foams and stack heights. I think there is a niche for this kind of shoe.

      @@proximacentaur1654absolutely true. With all the non stop innovation in shoe technology I feel the basics have just been lost. I see runners with poor form / technique wearing carbon plated shoes.

    The rotation I have:
    On Monster for easy and long runs.
    Brooks H Max for Tempo, faster runs, intervals and races up to 10k.
    On Cloudboom Echo for 1/2s - Marathons
    I think these fit nicely to this setup.

    I have about 140km on my pair. I've been using them for my long run in marathon training. (2.5hrs or so) I'm typically running on winding & rolling hill roads with a little non-technical off-road. I think they are really great at that use case. I love the firmer more resilient foam for running downhill and I find them very stable too which is important to me. I have the Mach 4 and I find on the same route the forefoot starts to feel like its bottoming out for me. I love the Mach 4 (haven't got the 5 yet) for shorter stuff tho or on the flat. Also zero sign of wear on the outsole in the Hyperion Max so far, very impressed where I find the Mach 4 is definitely starting show at that distance already.

    Every time I try brooks I always find them as ok shoes.
    They're not bad at all it's just the competition always do a better job at a better price. I love my rebel v3 and my hoka mach 5 also

    Very Happy with mine. ON off days my other shoe is the NB V4 MORE.
    Life is GOOD :)

    I think it is a good option as a training shoe good for short to medium tempo runs. I think the price hike over Hyperion Tempo reduced its competitive positioning. But now I would go buy Hyperion Tempo on good discount which would pretty much do the same job as this one. Brooks will also offer a new model "Hyperion" soon. That will be closer to Hyperion Tempo and on "The Running Event" (Austin, TX) previews Brooks rep. said that it will be cheaper than "Hyperion Tempo" so, if true, that will be a better deal.

    In the world of super cushioned and plated shoes the Hyperion bucks this trend which is good thing. Plated shoes are inherently unstable on toe off and super soft shoes can get mushy on long runs, and if it’s your only shoe your feet will become too used to the softer midsole and possibly weaken your feet tendons.
    The dna flash maybe too stiff for some but will last much longer and remain consistent and soften over time.

    Hyperion Tempo has been my main shoe for a few years now. I think I’ll wait for the revised Hyperion coming soon - hope they don’t screw up a great shoe. Thanks for the review of the Max.

      There will be very minor difference in the new Hyperion. Same midsole stack, tweaks to the upper and tread. There will also be a GTS version

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun ปีที่แล้ว

      @@funkyfragrancelover2979 I think they will also offer Wide versions. Basically, it is being positioned for greater runner audience and that is why they probably dropped the Tempo from the name.

    Sounds like Brooks has a little work to do to catch up with the other manufacturers in the speed training shoes. I have the Hyperion Tempos and I want to like them a lot more than I do. The foam seems too squishy when I'm looking for responsiveness in a faster run and it feels like there's almost no drop giving little to no propulsion. I just picked up some Saucony Endorphin Speed 3s the other day and over just a couple miles, I felt a lot faster with almost no additional effort over my long run pace.

    I have the Hyperion tempo and rebel v3 and Speed 3. I'd choose rebel and Speed over it, but I do like using the Hyperion tempo to get away from soft foam from time to time.. Hyperion max is a bit too expensive though.

    They aren't as effective as the plated shoes or as cushioned as the max cushion shoes, but for me, that is the point. I wouldn't race in these, but they're good for training in. I didn't particularly enjoy using them for my long run (30k+), but they do well at faster paces. I actually prefer the Shift 3s for anything 4min/k and below. Also, Hoka shoes are too narrow for me, so that limits the alternatives.

    My current shoe rotation:
    1. Hyperion Max (treadmill)
    2. Nimbus (for lazy recovery runs)
    3. Cumulus 25 normal road runs
    4. Mach 5 (treadmill)

    Rocker: because it has nice forefoot flex, I don’t notice the rocker, which is good for me. I like my feet to transition on their own.

    I have both the endorphin speed 3 and the Hyperion max I was expecting to favor the endorphin speed 3 because of the peba foam and don’t get me wrong they’re nice but I LOVE the Hyperion max I’m faster and my legs feel fresher after a 10 mile session I think the firmer foam just does it for me

  • @wakasalapinga

    How would you compare it to the Novablast 3. The novablast is $40 cheaper.

  • @reginaldgonzales
    @reginaldgonzales 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love the Hyperion Max but it’s so expensive for non-plated shoe. Lightweight wide toebox, durable outsole, just firm ride but after many time of uses it become softy.

  • @gengar678
    @gengar678 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its light with a nice upper but it doesnt work at all for me for faster paces, no clue why. I expected more from it I guess. It just doesnt bounce.

    So which one would you recommend for long runs. I used to love doing those in the speed 2s....but unfortunately the speed 3s don't work for me....was hoping the hyperion max would work, but from the sound of it, you guys wouldn't recommend it?

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I (Nick) like the Mach 5 and Magic Speed 2 for long runs. The Brooks is just a bit firm for my tastes for them, but will work for some runners I’m sure

  • @adamfeerst2575
    @adamfeerst2575 ปีที่แล้ว

    vs Rebel: it doesn’t give back more perhaps because it doesn’t take more like the Rebel does. I find the DNA Flash to be very nimble and agile compared to the Rebel.

    • @scottdouglas4848
      @scottdouglas4848 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Rebel 3 makes me work a lot harder after, say, 90 minutes than does this shoe. I usually don't like firmer midsoles but have really enjoyed the Hyperion Max.
      As for its price relative to Hoka Mach 5: Here in the States the Hyperion costs about $30 more. But the Mach 5 doesn't really have an outsole! It's not going to last as long as the Hyperion. I have more than 200 miles on my Hyperions, with only minimal outsole wear, and the midsole feels the same as on my first run in them. So you're paying more up front but likely coming out ahead on miles per dollar.

    Hey guys, would you recommend this shoe as one you’d use solely for speed work in your rotation? Judging by your comments it sounds like this one could work well? I’m looking for something for intervals on the treadmill, low-distance progression work, 3-5km time trials…all that stuff. Or would you prefer the Hoka / NB options you mention? Thanks a lot!

    The Hyperion tempo was alright(ish), but certainly not fast. I suspect this is another disappointing midsole. Sad that Brooks can’t get the midsole right, because that is the most important thing these days.

  • @fabsterun
    @fabsterun ปีที่แล้ว

    Really not a competition for the speed 3. Brooks foam is boring. Saucony foam is fun. . The heel feels weird. The upper isn't very comfy . Don't see how you can compare apples with pears. A well content is content right?
