  • What race were the Pharaohs?
SHOCKING AND IRONIC RESULTS of a study made on mummies that settled the debate on the race of ancient Egyptians for good!
Scientific proof that Ancient Egyptians were not black or a central/western African race and were a race of their own that is similar to Eastern and Mediterranean races.
You can read more about the study on the University of Tubingen's website.

If I'm not mistaken, that 2017 study recovered about 160 mummies, but only about 3 of those mummies could be DNA tested. The mummies were all from one burial-site, and that location is in Lower Egypt (or in the North); additionally, the mummies were dated to between the New Kingdom and the Roman Period. So, 3 specimens from an area known for foreign settlement, from late eras known for the heavy influx of immigrants and invaders. Idk, the study doesn't seem to be as conclusive as some ppl are suggesting. Egypt was a grand civilization; it attracted large streams of immigration, and was conquered multiple times, with Alexander the Great even encouraging Greeks to move there. The way this study is used to deny a black Egypt would be like me saying pre-colonial California was clearly comprised of indigenous Chinese-related ppl, because I DNA tested 3 (out of 160) bodies from a 19th century burial site in San Francisco.

You bring up a good point. We need more studies. However, it shows there were ancient Middle Eastern types in Egypt though some try to claim if you look Middle Eastern you're not a descendant. Also, the Fayyum portraits also show Middle Eastern looking people from a different region than those mummies. And overlapping with modern Egyptians. Also, the FBI extracted maternal DNA from Djehutynakht who was from the Middle Kingdom. At least on his mother's side he was Eurasian. It shows ancient Eurasians settled there thousands of years ago prior to the Arabs. Also Old Kingdom royal couple Prince Rahotep and his wife Nofret also look similar to Eurasians. They were clearly a mixed people who shouldn't be categorized as a certain race to fit anyone's agenda and people have to stop rudely calling modern Egyptians as not connected to Middle Eastern people. The evidence of ancient Eurasians is clear enough.

The time frame you mentioned was about a thousand years. Therefore, you are looking at roughly from the 19th Egyptian dynasty. By this time Egypt had been taken over by Greco-Romans. To solidify your argument, you would need to examine the DNA of mummies from earlier dynasties. Many of the wall paintings of Egyptian show people depicted with two distinct skin tones. One was reddish, and the other was black. The facial features of the ruler depicted in the Sphinx, the nose in particular, is more typical of people with central African Bantu lineage. Many of the West and East African peoples have some Bantu or Congo in their lineage, as do North Africans. Interestingly, the Aztecs in the America's also built pyramids. A lot of the ancient Aztecs have Black African features. I can not say authoritatively that those that have your position are wrong. However, I believe that most present-day Egyptians are mixed race as are other North Africans. It makes sense because of their geographical location. They have intermarried Arabs and Europeans over time. The important fact is that present-day Egyptian have mainland African lineage.

You would have a point if it happened only to Egyptian statues, but it happens to Greek and Roman and Sumerian and Indian and literally every culture’s statues too. "It is possible that populations in the south of Egypt were more closely related to those of Nubia and had a higher sub-Saharan genetic component, in which case the argument for an influx of sub-Saharan ancestries after the Roman Period might only be partially valid and have to be nuanced. Throughout Pharaonic history there was intense interaction between Egypt and Nubia, ranging from trade to conquest and colonialism, and there is compelling evidence for ethnic complexity within households with Egyptian men marrying Nubian women and vice versa51,52,53. Clearly, more genetic studies on ancient human remains from southern Egypt and Sudan are needed before apodictic statements can be made."
Mind you all the animals used in hieroglyphs are overwhelmingly Sub-saharan animals, not animals from the Levant. Why would you base a language off of animals NOT in your ARAB region. You develop language with things that are familiar to you.
The Levant has bears - no bears in hieroglyphs (correction) bears are extremely rare in hieroglyphs - there's an image of what they think is a bear on a thrown and it's most likely from a later period.
Hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffe, baboons, rhinos which equals the language developed in the SOUTH just like the Nile originates in Ethiopia and Uganda. Sub-saharan people create sub-saharan written languages.

Others make even more funny claims by saying “ but look at the statues , they have fully lips “ as if only black Africans have fully lips. Most of statues actually have west Eurasian features and even those with fully lips do not have subsaharan phenotypes. There are millions of egyptians with fully lips. When you carve someone face in the stone, usually the features look bigger than they are in reality.
And btw, there are plenty of statues with fully lips all over the world. From many statues in the Middle East to countless of Buddhist statues across Asia, to Angkor Thom in Cambodia to Olmecs in America . NONE of these statues depict black Africans.

As inaccurate as that documentary is, at least it creates lots of passionate debates! people talk about Egypt and most seem to have common sense.
The Macedon Greek inbred origin of Cleopatra is undeniable and the majority of Pharaoh's DNA is indeed Egyptian because they were also inbreeding.
There was however a black civilisation at the doorstep of Egypt in Nubia, the Kosh empire. And there was frictions between the 2. Even marriages between Nubians and Egyptian nobles at some point. We can find pyramids in Sudan too!
There was 2 periods that had black Royals and pharaohs.
    1) Upper Egypt: Narmer had a dark skin. There was already very likely all shades of skin between the top of upper Egypt til the bottom of lower Egypt.
    2) the 25th dynasty: originated in Nubia, not Egyptians but very Egyptisised, invaded, controled part of Egypt for almost a century and assimilated in the Egyptian society.
Egypt was a Nile and Mediterranean civilisation. the center of their universe was the Mediterranean sea and most subsaharian Africa was unknown. Africa was the name given by Romans for what we call today north Africa. Greeks and Assyrians called it Lybia. Europeans later called the whole continent Africa because they prefered using Latin names.
Black and races are strange words when we think about it. It puts people in boxes without considering their culture , history location and origins, it's a distinction created by racists centuries ago to divide us and we keep using it.
Let's not let these artificial divisions create artificial history. Black people don't need a fake black Cleopatra , a fake black Ann Boleyn or fake black Bridgerton. They have fantastic heroes in their own past kingdoms and empires or more recent history in Americas and all deserved to be talked about too!

Kemet" is an ancient Egyptian term that translates to "the black land" or "the black soil." It refers to the fertile soil along the Nile River, which was dark in color due to the sediment deposited during the river's annual flooding. The ancient Egyptians used this term to describe their homeland because the black soil was essential for agriculture and was associated with fertility and abundance.
The term "Kemet" contrasts with "Desher," which means "the red land" and refers to the surrounding desert areas. The Nile River and its annual flooding were central to the prosperity of ancient Egypt, as the inundation brought nutrient-rich silt that replenished the soil and allowed for successful agricultural production.
In addition to its literal meaning, "Kemet" also held symbolic significance for the ancient Egyptians. The color black was associated with regeneration and fertility in Egyptian mythology, representing the fertile land that gave life to the civilization. The term "Kemet" reflects the deep connection that the ancient Egyptians felt with their land and its life-giving properties.

Can we trust any frustrated black scientist, that believes in a pseudoscience such as afrocentrism?

Dismissing a study bc it comes from an ethnic group you dont like doesnt make it any less credible. It means you refuse to listen to objective evidence based on stereotypes and generalizations which actually makes YOU the racist here.

Literally nothing proves this, all historic evidence points to Egyptians being either lights kinked or tanned at most but not black, the black ones are nubian non egyptians
