Todays 24 hour races are 100% without a doubt. The differences in laptime compared to qualifying are only because of higher fuel load and old tyres. Peugeot and Audi were 3 seconds off their fastest qualifying lap - and that was on a 13.6km circuit! You can't cruise around, you can't wait for a safe passing opportunity when backmarkers are in your way This years 24h at Spa was one heck of a race, only decided with 30min to go and the two leading cars were in the same lap at that point
@TheSteinerJ The wheel supplied by Porsche with the 997 RSR(or any racing version of the 997 for that matter) is an OMP Superturismo, which is round with no flat edges.
If you look again you can see that he is hard on the power as soon as he see's the exit of the corner. The rear engine layout of the Porsche means that you can stamp on the power and the rear tyres will just grip. Plus I am sure the car is very nicely setup to exploit this handling trait.
For the last 10 to 12 hours of the race the #60 Prospeed Porsche was the fastest GT2 car on track by a few seconds per lap, earlier on in the race they were suffering severe setup issues.
very smooth lap, even the steering looks rough, its probably just his style. I'm interested in why is he having so little oversteer out of corners, like he's getting back on gas too late or too smoth. Only exit of final chicane looks on the very limit, all other corners have very good enters, but exits doesn't look as strong. Did he save the tires, or it's just the car can't produce enough power out of corner, or it's understeery setup?
Not winning championships? Reigning ALMS GT2 Drivers, Teams and Manufacturers Champions and are currently running away with this years ALMS title with 5 strait wins for the #45 Flying Lizard Porsche. On top of that Porsche has won the first 2 LMS and FIA GT races but after problems for Prospeed and Felbermayr Proton caused by other cars are currently left playing catchup.
This engine and transmission sounds so good... shame that road version doesn't sound like this.
great onboard :) nice drive
Todos los porsche siempre son una belleza en la carretera como en competencias...

Richard is the best!
Yes and heel toe downshifting as well. :)
True. But still, the car looks so lovely to drive.
@Hasseta They look all like the same. But the original of the GT3 RSR isn't round.
You mean the seering wheel from the GT3 RS or GT3.
I just think rik looks lovely in his white jump suit.
Its sequential, no need clutch. But you can see him blip the throttle for each down shift.
@Hasseta it's a racing wheel
Is it me or does this car look very tame to drive. It turns in so nicely and looks like it's being driven at 80% the limit :S

@dombou70 Probably at 95% though, it's a 24h race, but they are still giving it a lot of effort.
@TheSteinerJ what? obvious that's a racing wheel... i think it's from the Matech Ford GT
@Orvieta @spectre1209 True.
@dombou70 24 hour race, gotta make it to the end to have a chance at winning. :-)
Man wonder how the brakes last 24 hours...just insane.
@WayfstrthnU with just 3 hours to go , nobody gonna take flat out eau rouge anymore. Drivers are really tired . the track is isnt clean anymore.
Oops sorry, he does use a clutch after all.
Hmm, not enough downforce to take the Eau de Rouge flat out?
dude, i'd give up a kidney.
all racing wheels are flat at the downside...
and as i said the seering wheel of the gt3 rs is rounded not the one of the GT3 RSR
How many hp is it running with?
@TheSteinerJ no, they don't look all like the same. it can be true if you're blind
@25877852 around 400 i think
@25877852 around 450
you can't really go balls out for a 24 hour race
the steering wheel isnt original from the 997 gt3 rsr... the original is totally routand
