Man, I've had a PSP-1001 since the original launch. My grandparents surprised me with it as a birthday gift and I've treasured that thing ever since lol. Around 2007/2008 the wifi switch broke, a pretty common problem back in the day. Basically made the wifi connection very unstable as the slightest motion could open the switch disconnecting the wifi circuit. At the time I found the perfect spot where a piece of tape could hold the switch in a stable position. I tried once before around 2012 or so to tear it down and repair it but gave up halfway through lol. Since then I've done more device and laptop tear downs / repairs than I can remember, even built a few drones. I've been a bit nostalgic lately seeing the familiar design in the GPD Win4 in recent videos which took me down a PSP custom firmware rabbit hole. This motivated me enough to dig up the old PSP and order a set of new wifi switches. Finally sat down to get it done lol. This video helped quite a bit.
I had that one, loved it. Someone stole it from my pad back in my party days. Favorite Games included Daxter, GTA Liberty City Stories & God Of War Chains of Olympus.
Too clutch. About to do this to a 1k I just picked up. It's in great condition, just a lil grimy. Gonna tear it down and give it a nice clean and detail. Thanks for the video man!
I bought a husky set from Home Depot and took a dremel to the point where the bit meets the body. It took some time but it’s an alternative if you can’t find a slimmer set of bits
Which PSP model is your favorite?
Slim 3000, cuz I have that
3004
You can tell Sony did NOT want people fixing this 😂
best teardown I've seen so far, thanks man
Thank you!! Glad I could help

Still haven't got a GTA game yet. I'm holding out to get it digitally for Vita

The screws by the memory card are brutal I can’t find anything that is long and skinny enough to get to them
