I'm so thankful that this exists. I used an iFixIt guide to teardown my PSP-1001 to do a screen and case swap, but realized once I got the thing apart that they cut out a LOT of steps along the way...
While I was smart enough to take pictures of the screws i removed, and label them along the way, I didn't take pictures of the system each step of the way.
I'm now basically watching this video in reverse. You're a lifesaver.
    Sincerely,

@@axolotlboi3957 I did, almost... I accidentally broke the bracket for the ribbon cable that powers the backlight for the screen. It all just kinda blew up when I tried to latch it into place. I have no idea how to fix that whoopsy :(

@@Waluigi-qp3vm I used a ts100 you can look it up yourself there are tons of reviews of it on TH-cam costs about 55 euro if you order it from the uychan store and they ship a power supply with it. There are other branda that produce the same iron (lookup sq001 on banggood) and there are some cheaper alternatives depending where you buy like the ksger irons that have cheaper replacement tips

Thanks for the video...I'll be using it to replace my PSP 1001 WiFi card. The error, don't recall the exact error, is reported by Sony to replace the WIFi card. No matter what I do it no longer connects to WiFi and I have an old-school WiFi AP it's was connected to in the past. I'm an IT Admin of 25 years and trust me when I have tried everything to fix the issue. So time to replace the WiIF card to see if that fixes the issue. I've had the PSP since 6 month after the PSP launch. I was part of the original hacking scene, alpha and beta testing etc. My PSP orignally came with firmware 1.0! I bought is slighly used from Gamestop and had them go through 15 different PSPs to find firmware 1.0 so I could immediately use the exploit to run unsigned firmware. I've run pretty much every CFW that was in existence. Now it just kind of sits in a drawer.

I need to replace the UMD drive, as the spinner/spindle in the original drive turned itself into dust (I really don't know how this could have happened. It worked perfectly fine last time I used it and it has been sitting on a shelf for the past few years).
This video is very helpful, thanks! Now all I have to do is to wait for the replacement parts to arrive...

Ok so I found my brothers old PSP 1001 that has been sitting in the workshop in a box for over 7 years, I don't know when it broke. My brother said that he remembers it fell and then wouldn't start, so I decided to take it apart. A few months ago I took out some parts and found out that the left speaker is completely disconnected and needs soldering back on. Today I wanted to take it apart fully this time, I have discovered that on the motherboard a piece has broken off, most likely why the PSP wouldn't turn on. If you look at the bottom left of the motherboard, right above where the lanyard would be, you should see 2 small holes and on the underside of the motherboard a little rectangle is broken off of that. I don't know what it does and is wondering if you can find out what it is for and if I can get it repaired pretty easily. I know for sure that I didn't break it off while removing the motherboard as there is a bit of the green background thing peeled off and there is little rust.

It probably won't make sense of me to ask this as I no longer have my silver 3003 PSP, but I want to try in hopes of you or someone in comments would know/have the answer, should I run into this issue again if and when I get another one. My PSP would turn itself off while charging- I charged it this way to see if it was actually charging as judging by the charge light alone is hard to tell, then it just stopped charging and would not charge anymore. I had my Dad take a look at it and explained what was going on with it/what was wrong with it, since he's good with electronics (he used to build those old vintage 90's computers from scratch as a hobby), and he said it may be the charger or the battery, and he got me new ones at Gaestop and we tried the charger first- no charging, so we tried both the battery and charger and STILL no charging at all. I think he took it apart to see what was wrong inside, but could not figure it out (he hadn't done something like that in awhile at the time), so he had me get rid of it as it seemed unfixable. Now that I think about it, I think it may have been the motherboard itself, or possibly a damaged charging port, but I'm not exactly sure, so would you or anyone in comments happen to know what the issue was/could be? And if so, could it be fixable if and when i get a new PSP? I'd like as many opinions/diagnosises as possible so I'm asking several youtubers who fix these bad boys lol

They do sell that part for the 2000 and 3000. You will need soldering skills for that

Hello sir, nice video!! My PSP 1000 screen get dark after I changed the shell.>< I can only see slightly view by squint under strong light...And I tried the other screen, the result was the same. I press the square(light adjust) for 2 secs, I can see the slight backlight disappear to black. What could be the problem? Thanks a lot!!

Wth!!! What are you doing with my psp?! Lml i kid you not, mine is the exact same. It’s missing the analog cover, and i have a white wrist holder on mine…. Plus my charger port is broken😭 hence why I’m watching this to fix it…
Its just an odd coincidence that we would have the exact psp!
