Actually, Mike Myers is reportedly very difficult to work with. Amy Hill, the Chinese stereotype, said he forced director Bo Welch to redo several scenes. Myers is said to be moody and temperamental and wants to push everyone around.

Don’t know if you’re aware of this, but Dr. Seuss’s widow was so offended by this film that she disallowed further live adaptations of her husband’s work. And speaking of Master of Disguise, I’m looking forward to your reaction to that review. Another NC classic.

11:28 Well, as I have looked up, he was allegedly forced by Universal into starring in this film and was paid to act like this, anyway. Because of this, his behaviour got out of control on set as he knew how the film was going to turn out as the studio mainly picked him just to ACT all Mike-Myers-ey throughout the film. I kind of felt bad for him as the studio wanted to stick with his innuendos in their properties when most of us wished he could've done a bit more than just comedy, though.

*Fun Fact:* They originally planned to have Tim Allen play the role of The Cat in the Hat. I don’t recall if he was too busy at the time or he simply turned down the role, but they simply moved down the list with Mike Myers being next in line.
That's true, Allen turned it down because he was too busy working on The Santa Clause 2, thankfully.

I remember seeing the horton movie and its actually pretty good. It has Jim Carrey as horton and Steve Carell as the mayor of whoville.
I feel like maybe it could have worked. Maybe have it be animated with CGI and maybe keep Mike Myers and take out the sub plots and keep out pop culture references. Just some things.
Oh wait just leave well enough alone and watch the original!
Cat in the Hat is in the top 3 worst movies of all time imo. I honestly think a Michael Bay Cat in the Hat movie would be *better* than what we got. This is probably worse than son of the mask

This was probably the funniest portion of the review, that cut to the Cat in the Hat and a dress on a swing with a unicorn in the background while they played that Sunday morning song in the background ... it's that sequence that sets the critic off to leave and go outside, Etc...
Could you not play the song for copyright reasons or something?
Actually if you watch some of the other NC reviews, they have been edited as well due to extremly stupid copy right claims. In fact Doug even did a video called Wheres the Fair Use? (WTFU) and points out that one of the main reaons they did some reviews with no clips was so they would not get a strike and YTube has such a stupid system in place. It looks like they had to cut a joke for copyright, during the film when the Cat gets hit in the nuts there's a cut away of the Cat in drag swinging on a lawn swing whilst the Commodores' Easy plays which is the reason why the Critic walks away.

The deleted scenes for this movie are demented. One of the 2 Things pisses thousands of gallons of water in order to flood the road and delay the mom's trip home. Another version of that scene is the Things committing a significant act of terrorism by blowing up a dam to create the flood that blocks the road. It's wild

I remember liking this film as a kid and wondering what was I thinking back then.
And thank god we about to get a new version of the cat in the hat which is animated the way it should have been.
I actually always loved this movie, and still do.

I say Son of The Mask is still worse as people would often compare that movie to The Cat in The Hat movie, but I have a soft spot for The Cat In The Hat as a guilty pleasure for me.
What impresses me about this movie is how hideous they managed to make the Cat and the things

you want good/great dr. seuss adaptations? check out the ones that are #1: 2D Animated (i.e. hand drawn) and #2: made for tv or streaming service like netflix. the movie theater/box office films (whether live-action or cgi animated, made by universal or illumination) are downright TERRIBLY GODAWFUL adaptations (except Horton Hears a Who!, made by Fox).
At least this wasn't The Love Guru.

I may like this movie, but I feel this is like a parody instead of an adaptation. This seems appropriate to teens and up. My point is, I wouldn’t show this to my child until they were old enough.
