    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can! The purpose of responding at stage 1 is to help shape the requirement (ie. get it set aside). It’s also for marketing purposes, but doesn’t replace the future bidding.

    Hi Gov Kid. So it's my understanding that with current bids, there is no "Submit" button or "Bid" button but rather follow the instructions to submit what the contracting officer is asking for to their email. Such as an RFQ or RFP, etc...

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that’s correct! Email them your bid response based on the instructions to offerors. Ask contracting any questions you have.

    Hey Derek,
    Love your work, great content and full of value. I did have a quick question, being an Australian could you please confirm that under the FTA this shouldn't be an issue for qualifying for government contracts? I also did a bit more reading and came across the Buy American Act and from what I understand, China as a COO would be a no go for government contracts? If so, given Hong Kong is GPA designated and in close proximity to Shenzhen, could this be a viable work around?
    Cheers!

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I’m not an expert with non-US countries doing GOVCON. What I do know is you have to get an NCAGE code and I think your country has to be a NATO member. Don’t quote me on that. Buy American means you wouldn’t be buying from China, yes. I don’t know about any work arounds, though.

    Do you have to have a duns number and NAICS code for this?

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to have a DUNS code and Cage code. You select NAICS codes when you register your business entity in SAM.gov You choose a primary NAICS code but can add/edit/delete other naics codes as necessary in your SAM profile easily. They are replacing DUNS number December 2020 with a new universal code. For now, you need to have both a DUNS and CAGE code to be eligible for a contract award.

    First awesome video man, so helpful.
    I have two questions:
    1. In Sam.gov when they have active solicitation but expired response deadline, do you know what does that mean?
    2. Do you have to have certain amount of revenue/profit as small business to be able to apply for contracts or does that not matter?

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! 1) just means they haven’t archived it yet. And 2) Profit is usually only looked at if you have a DCAA audit. It’s really up to you to keep your business above water

    Is a federal employee able to bid on contracts legally?

  • @FirstLast-ce6cf
    @FirstLast-ce6cf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am about to bid on a contract. It’s small, only 20k. I am extremely confident I am going to win because it’s a repost and it closes in a couple days and no other vendors has shown interest. I am certainly not looking to gouge the government, but what would be a price I could look at charging if I am extremely confident competition is not a factor. The items are actually a pain to find.

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It truly depends on the level of competition as well as what site you are bidding on (Unison or beta.sam). Competitive margins can be as wide ranging as 2%- 15% on competitive bids. It also depends what the THING is that you're selling. Without knowing if it's a product or providing a service, it's really all over the place. If it's a sole source, margins can be higher.

    • @ryanrodriguez70
      @ryanrodriguez70 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Govkid, I kinda feel ignorant after I watched your first video and when you stated “your selling to the government”. I thought wow how didn’t I know that.

  • @TheodoreStearns

    Hi all, being somewhat new to the space, I’d love to get your insights on two points:
    1. Do you think being a middleman puts us at a disadvantage when competing with specialized service providers for contracts?
    2. How do you effectively present your company’s strengths and unique value proposition on your website to impress contracting offices?
    Thanks for your feedback!

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1) There's no way to win against a specialist who has their CAGE code if you're a middleman unless they are very greedy with their margins.
      2) You do not need to present your strengths and value prop on a website, it makes no difference. Do this in your bid proposal submissions working with your selected subcontractor (teaming partner) as they will have the value prop.

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It typically means they haven’t decided on one yet or there may not be one. You can try to email contracting and ask what the procurement strategy will be if you don’t want to wait until the solicitation is released

  • @ryanrodriguez70
    @ryanrodriguez70 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey govkid. Another great video you answered so my questions thank you. But I’m still a little confused when searching Sam beta with a set aside 8a and SVOD. Knowing that all contracts go through the 4 stages can an 8a or SVOD be awarded a contract without posting the sources sought? If not when searching for a sources sought should I have the 8a AND SVOD filters tuned off? Kinda a stupid question but I heard some 8a contracts getting direct awards with a letter from the CO, I guess that’s why I’m a little confused

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They all get started as a sources sought. If a bid goes “sole source” you won’t see it go through any of the later stages. They may post the award for it but they don’t always. Companies that have a relationship with contracting will sometimes get the job direct and you won’t see anything direct
