    Something you’ll use the most in your IFAK are bandaids. Don’t forget that…,also don’t make the mistake of using your IFAK sharpie for other things cause it goes missing when you need it

      @@cm2973 I keep it in my IFAK cause I have kids and watch many of my nieces/nephews. But I store it in a way it doesn’t get in the way of the life saving equipment. Although I see your point and agree a boo boo kit should be separate, I just don’t like carrying too much stuff on my person. But my work gear is strictly IFAK and the boo boo kit is it’s own separate bag.

    Shame this gets so little views compared to the other firearms videos. A first aid kit will most likely save your life more than a gun ever will.

    When I was a paramedic, the use of tourniquets was not even considered as a go to; quik-clot was out there but not in pre-hospital care. The suggestion that makes sense is to pre-stage the tourniquet so that it can be pulled over any of extremities.
    Thanks for the video.

    Not that you need the adulation from me, but that is a very important video for all responsible people. I have not been in my IFAC in awhile, and this video compelled me to re-familiarize and re-organize mine. In the initial video when the assessment was being done of the man seated and propped against his truck: if the mechanism of injury and the initial assessment does not contraindicate it, one should consider lying the patient down to improve the hemodynamic efficiency to organs. GREAT VIDEO. Thank you, Drew.

    The only thing I saw not quite right was the seated position of the patient. Lying him down and elevating his good leg could have possibly been lifesaving in conjunction with the applied tourniquet. I didn’t see any wound packing but perhaps the mucilage was such that it wasn’t indicated. Dean

    What does Paul mean at 9:13 "when we came up with these tourniquets" ??
    Ted Westmoreland invented the CAT in 2002-03 with USSOCOM. Was Paul involved in that program? How old was he at that time?

    • @baersolutions
      @baersolutions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul didn't mean it that way. He meant it as the collective medical field, the military and America. Much the same way those who were service members say "when we invaded Afghanistan." They may not have been there for the invasion, but years later when they joined they feel a part of the collective effort.

      @@baersolutions Fair. Thanks for the excellent video on med kit! Though I will add one thing.. the chances of using an ifak (outside of combat/violent criminal LE) is low. Don't forget to have a "boo-boo" kit (quality band aids, bacitracin, maybe some dermabond, tweezers for splinters and ticks, etc.) as well.

    In the intro, does it make more sense to call 911 before or after administering first aid? Or is it situation based depending on the state of the individual?

    Mt guess, ternokat gauzz or gauzz like material, peroxide, alcohol, iodine, an impermeable plastic and good tape for sucking chest, some syringes to get air to the lungs, scissors, scalpel, forceps for preparing material and removing shrapnel, Tylenol and Ibuprofen. .... some simple bandaids are nice but I think the above is all you need unless you have medic training

    Is this an INDIVIDUAL First Aid Kit or a First Aid Kit. If it is an IFAK, it is not meant to be used for anyone but you. That is why it is called INDIVIDUAL-FAK. If you're out hunting, hiking, etc., you need to have an IFAK so someone can treat you if they come across you in an injured state. I carry a more comprehensive FAK in the car that I'm willing to use on others, but my IFAK, it's for me. People need to take responsibility for themselves, if they don't value their life enough to carry their own IFAK, why should anyone else? We can not depend on the professionals First Responders, EMT, etc., to always be around.

  • @212caboose
    @212caboose ปีที่แล้ว

    The IFAK is supposed to be for other people to render aid TO YOU. Not for you to provide medical to THEM. While I'm not against providing aid to others, an IFAK isn't the proper tool.
