You're awesome Scot! I became a channel member because I like your vibe and I love learning about new music, even though it might take a while to get to it. Looking forward to the new year, I have a feeling it's going to get better for everyone.
As far as I'm concerned, it's your personality that makes me return every day. It's been sorta fun watching your bid for world domination. So far, so good. I agree that branching out might not be a bad idea but still keeping prog and prog adjacent as the main focus. I imagine that a lot of us are "rock" music fans in general. Us older folks grew up on all the usual suspects and the younger ones seem to be metal fans so talking about Led Zep and Meshuggah (not my cup of tea) makes sense. I also like the occasional sidetrack, things we love, Taylor Swift rankings, feuds, fave perfumes and whatnot are a lot of fun. They're kinda like the specials that would pop up on TV back in the long ago. Keep doing those once in a while. I would like to see deeper analysis of classic albums that we all know so well. You don't really do deep dives but I would love to hear your take on things. As you know I am a faithful parishioner to Father Scot's Sunday Total Mass Retain. I love clogging up the chat room. But enough already! You don't need me to tell you what to do. What you do Scot works for me, that's why I'm here. Later man...
i agree that it's the personality thats keeps me coming back here. on the rock and metal topic i seem to be somewhat in the middle, and consider rock and metal to both be under the umbrella of rock and roll/blues influenced music. redescovered prog rock (grew up on genesis) trough Opeth, but, while i love the classics, sticking some metal and newer styles in there once in a while keeps it fresh.
Looking forward to the branching out of the Prog Corner, as someone who likes 50’s blues & jazz to modern extreme metal. Most importantly do what you want and love, thank you Scot!

I discovered your channel because of your first GBV ranking over 2 years ago and you sent me down a prog wormhole that I haven’t climbed out of. Thanks to you I can’t get enough Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator and all things Hammill, Camel, so much other stuff. You even turned me onto some newer prog like Steven Wilson ,Big Big Train and Wobbler which I never would have checked out if it weren’t for the Prog Corner. I guess what I am saying is THANK YOU and keep it coming!

Ooooo , hugely exciting year ahead Scot. Alright we know wholeheartedly Prog is our thing , our sweetheart even. But let's have some 'on the side' options in the form of various genres which us prog earthlings also enjoy. Punk , Post-Punk , New Wave , NWOBHM , Electro , and Disco too. We all love at least some aspects of all of these genres. The most important thing is the MUSIC ?!! Love you man. A beautiful new year to all. 😍🎵🎵🤘
If I may offer a suggestion, perhaps maybe this would be a great opportunity to not just branch out, but maybe do some documentary style presentations about prog's many subgenres, and the illustrious careers of the bands and musicians that make up the genre. There's a lot of untapped potential for 2025.
Always in anticipation of what lies ahead at the The Prog Corner, and I think you have some wonderful ideas about expanding out in 2025. I think it would be a wonderful idea to bring more of the classical elements of Prog into the picture, and you, having studied music theory in college (as did I), could bring this unique expertise to your videos and make it interesting (and educational) to your Prog audience. For instance... ...you could introduce Bach's, "Sleepers, Wake!" and "Air on the G String" by linking it to Procol Harum's, "A Whiter Shade of Pale",....and Debussy's, "La cathédrale engloutie" (The Sunken Cathedral) and explain how Renaissance incorporated this work into their piece, "At The Harbour"... and how Rypen's/Albinoni's, "Adagio in G minor for strings and organ" was used by Gary Brooker and Matthew Fisher for Procol's, "Adagio Di Albinoni", as well as Renaissance's, "Cold Is Being"... ...and, the aria by Camille Saint-Saëns, "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix" (Softly awakes my heart) from his opera, "Samson and Delilah" used brilliantly by Matthew Bellamy and Muse in their song, "I Belong to You" -- as well as many other Muse songs clearly inspired by the like of Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Lizst, and Chopin. Anyway, you can beat Beato at his own game by bringing an even deeper music education/appreciation/experience into your already established Prog format. I know you can do it! (if you want to, that is.) Keep up the great work, Scott.

My main interest is Prog , classic and the new in that genre. But like many others I love Jazz, classic rock and Blues. Maybe more interviews with artists and an occasional show on new artists would bring in more exposure. There are some new bands doing great work in all the areas.

it would be fun to see you look into some of the prog influenced speed/power metal records, like early avantasia or some Blind guardian record (or songs like And then there was silence). also if you like folk music that would be fun, as a lot of it is in odd time signatures (irish is usually in 5/5 i belive?) or it behaves totaly different from western music theory like using modes, and medieaval music before the shift towards western music theory becoming what it is today.

For 2025 I'd like to see you do a video (or even a Sunday live stream) where you discuss / review the best or most interesting / impressive non-album singles tracks by prog rock groups. It's a rich and varied topic, after all. Think of it...all those tracks by Jethro Tull, The Family, VDGG etc. I think another chap made a similar request to this last year and I agree with him or her. Maybe non-album compilation tracks can be included (I think of America by Yes here). Anyway, 2025...I want to see you hit 15,000 subscribers by 31st December. ROCK ON!
Yes, great channel and content. Branching out and doing musical content beyond Prog is fine, there are lots of possibilities. But please stick to doing what really interests you about various music, and not just doing content that you think will get more views, because the biggest asset the channel has is you, your knowledge and passion for music. It’s a bit ridiculous that videos of people cleaning carpets, mowing lawns, and mice falling into traps get millions of views, while you talking about the greatest music ever created struggles to get over a couple thousand views, but that’s TH-cam for you. Building and making the channel better is great, but don’t lose what makes this great, your passion and enthusiasm for the music.

Maybe non-album compilation tracks can be included (I think of America by Yes here).

Yes, great channel and content. Branching out and doing musical content beyond Prog is fine, there are lots of possibilities. But please stick to doing what really interests you about various music, and not just doing content that you think will get more views, because the biggest asset the channel has is you, your knowledge and passion for music. It’s a bit ridiculous that videos of people cleaning carpets, mowing lawns, and mice falling into traps get millions of views, while you talking about the greatest music ever created struggles to get over a couple thousand views, but that’s TH-cam for you. Building and making the channel better is great, but don’t lose what makes this great, your passion and enthusiasm for the music.

Scott you have to remember that Beato understands a lot of music theory and he's a hack on multiple instruments and that intrigues people ..
