I also don’t understand why it was necessary to remove the frame around the wrist in Hyperlite. She has long been a hallmark of Bauer. Allowed you not to pinch your wrist. Turn the pancake forward 120 degrees. And now it's some kind of CCM ...

I agree, I think this was subtraction by addition here. They added something that really doesn't offer anything better than the previous design besides marketing points.

Hey Matt.... anyone else feel the hand placement on the hyperlite and 3x is odd. I am coming from a gt2 blocker and feel like I can't get my paddle down on the ice with the new blocker angle?

The hand position on these is the same as the 2X Pro, which I never personally had an issue with.
I did have a huge issue with the G5 blocker with the finger tip protection causing a big gap under paddle down when using that. So it has something to do with how you go paddle down if you have no issues with the Warrior gear but do with this one.

Could you do a review of some kova goalie gear

I have their neck guard and accessories I will be making content on in the future. But unfortunately they are too expensive for me to buy on a whim without seeing in person first.

Good stuff I just saw Hyperlite in person today. I love the stretchy feel of the hand/ finger materials, but it seems like they sacrificed additional padding over individual finger stalls. I don’t know what that will do to long term durability tho.
Separate question- did you get your hands on a hyperlite chesty yet? It was very comfortable but I’ve never purchased Bauer. I feel like Bauer gets a lot of mixed reviews on its protection, and at $600 USD, I’d be pissed if I gamble and lose. Whereas the Optik2 was stiff but felt like a tank

Bauer still has the Poron in the backhand with the adjustable fingers. I don't think there is any sacrifice with the solution they went with.
I have not been able to see the Hyperlite chest and might not be able to at all. I would suggest reaching out to Bauer on social media if you want to see me review it.

@@HockeyReviews appreciate that. I could tell there was some padding over the fingers, didn’t know it was Poron as I’m not super familiar with the material.
In general, did you feel like the Bauer C&A’s you tried in the past were as protective as something like Kenesky? I love how the hyper lite fit my body but it didn’t feel as beefy as other models. Obviously they use different & lighter materials. I’d have no concerns with the optik but prefer something more mobile plus I didn’t love the fit of the pillows in the ribs

So, I got bruises in the 2X Pro chest in a relatively lower level league, I have faced much harder shots in the Kenesky and haven't had any issues yet. I will be testing that Kenesky with my puck machine soo though to really put it through the paces.
I also could tell there would be protection issues with the Ultrasonic chest specifically on the arms. They failed my ministick test pretty badly so I can only image what a puck would do (and I heard quite a lot of feedback on how they weren't protective enough).
My problem with commenting on the Hyperlite is that they added a new type of foam in the entire line (player and goalie) and I honestly have no clue if it works or not. They have been solidly listening to feedback with this line (bringing the calf pillow and bringing the 2 piece blocker back) so I am hesitant in saying whether this foam would be protective enough.
With that said, if you are willing to go custom, Bauer does have a pretty solid Pro Custom chest protector program where you can order beefed forearms, biceps, and shoulders. I would've gone this route if I knew about the program before I ordered my Kenesky. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the beefed versions of the chest.
Pure Goalie has a customizer for it that you can find here: bit.ly/3uwHEJl

@@HockeyReviews you’re the best, thanks so much for a very detailed response. It’s all helpful, and I wasn’t aware of the custom options. Glad to chat about gear for a bit 😉

Optik2 is the best overall blocker in terms of pop and quality. Bauer gets noise because of who uses it in the NHL

As someone that has an Optik 2, Bauers are better.
