Hey guys, just want to say thanks for watching my video! I've been reading as many comments as I can and love the feedback. Whether you agree or disagree with my dream game concepts, or have completely different dream game ideas, its making my brain cogs turn and also want to try new games you guys have mentioned... except kingdom come deliverance lol. Jk, I WILL have to give it a shot at some point... I'm sure it's.. less boring than it looks.. right? Anyway, there's concepts I unfortunately had to cut for time, number 1 being a travel system, I legitimately want to hear ideas of how to create a functional AND fun way to get around in a BALLS type game. I'm not a huge fan of the overworld approach, I'd want to remain in third/first person most of the game and avoid being taken out of my character. BUT, how tf do you move around with 500 people lol. An idea I had would be a proxy system where you ride around the open world with 1-9+ of your highest ranking officers that each represent approximately 50 soldiers. This would keep that intimidation aspect in Bannerlord, seeing a large party ahead of you, and I also think it'd add to the dynamic relationships to your army: Traveling with your senior leaders like a fellowship, small combat instances like bandits in a dark forest can be taken care of with just this party, AND having soldiers that are under the command of each officer, be able to replace them one day. I think it'd be so sick to promote a solider after a companion dies and have him be able to say "I'm Timarious Moonright, I served under the command of Dregg Griddlebayne for four winters, God rest his soul, you honor me with his rank M'lord". What do you guys think of a travel system for BALLS?
The idea of your constant presence in the world, where anywhere can be a battle field can really only work with your idea of "personal guard/retinue." One of the reasons Overworld Travel works so well is that there is no need to account for 1000's of persons everywhere all the time. Keeping with the X strongest soldiers always with you theme, but still accounting for massive armies would be sort of like.... "summoning a horse" You are out with your retinue, doing your thing, and BAM! Raiders/Bandits/opposing forces show up in the form of their own Leader+retinue, with the size dependent on overall composition. 1 Bandit? Probably just one guy... no need to summon troops. 4 Armed mercs? Maybe your X number of retinue can chase off these leaders..... things escalate? they call in more, you call in more... and round we go until both leaders have started a full scale battle in the middle of Randomplace, Anywhere. The transition from "just here fighting leadership on leadership" to "OK FINE, lets do this" is mechanically done the same way "summoning a horse" is done in some games... you whistle/fire a shot/make a signal... and from outside of your vision, there comes a horse that is now being accounted for by the simulation. The individual people following your now become leaders of entire groups.... so the commands one is able to give should probably stick very close, regardless if that order is going to just the follower, or when the follower becomes a leader+X men. That would reduce the weight on the simulation, but still have all of your troops within a reasonable distance available at anytime. It would either require a HUGE world with very little "uniquely rough terrain"... or a fine tuned summoning system, tailored not for rapid deployment into the battle, but rather to a viable position for X number of troops to be in the first place. You are with your followers in a mangrove forest, because X resource is found here, or because it is unique and beautiful. You see an equal number of warriors approach, and rather than even attempt to get this done quick, you "summon a horse" BUT! they show up at the edge of the mangrove forest, already in formation and on ground where they can move in that formation. The simulation is now including them in calculations, but even if you cant see them, you are down 1 follower, and his troops respond to orders all the same. That gives the player the choice then of "lets take this outside, where there are no leeches." or "I fancy a crazy battle in this crazy place." Still gives the player the freedom to either engage in a normal setpiece battle, or stuffing 200 soldiers into a swamp meant for 10 :)... that would also give birth the the tactic of sacrificing troops to hold an enemy somewhere, while your main force repositions/maneuvers to take advantage of a large force only able to come at you in small numbers at a time. YUP!.... I think any reality, where your BALLS game does not exist, should not be allowed to continue. So now you're going to have to save us all and get Rockstar to give birth to the first iteration of this type of world for us to play in.
Just wanna say i think your videos are really awesome. the fast cut comedy references are wholesome. its always cool to listen to someone passionately talk about what interests them, and you have good taste in games too. I know it might seem bit dated now but have you ever considered playing xcom? i feel like its the kind of game you would really really enjoy especially as your troops follow you through game and you build personal relationships with them and you feel bad when they get wiped out, just a suggestion though! keep the videos coming this channel is a diamond in the rough!
You gathered so much things that I like in one video: RDR2, Bannerlord, Skyrim (with its great soundtrack) and so on that I think that it is the first time that I watched someone on TH-cam and thought "Damn, I'd like to be his friend". Btw, nice game idea.
Hey mate if you really enjoy building your own troop, try Prophecy of Pendor It's a Mount and blade warband mod, it has unique custom troop that can pretty much you can give any weapon and armor as desire Ex: Want a strong shock knight? Yes Want a sniper archer cav? Yes Want a 2 handed no shield infantry? Yes
If the devs don't finish it, the modders will. It's kinda crazy how far the warband modding community went with an even more barebones version of the game.
except you can reapetedly die in battle so you'll either need to be able to have like a million scars or you can only get one the first time you die, which was probably due to something shitty like a farmer throwing a rock at your back
@@oxydayz maybe just add scars for hits that deal huge damage, like if you get stoned to death by an army of looters none of those would leave scars, but if an enemy lord hits you with a great sword and insta kills you then it would leave a scar
Mans just literally described the best game to ever exist. If you are a company using this guys idea, don't be creative, don't change it, its already perfect.
That game will never be made i am working in 3d and i realize how much money would need to be put in to the game to have half of things he want and we are talking about 500 milions no developer would risk that.
@tomino5201 I don't really agree with this. Look at all that Starsector has for example. I genuinely see it as superior in many ways and they get away with that because of the simple graphics. I still find it immersive because of the art style and the game play itself. I can go from a small humble organ dealer to ruler of the inhabited systems...or what's left of them anyways
@@tomino5201 That's obvious but for me it's the "developed by Rockstar" part that REALLY tells me they have no idea what they're talking abuot. They want a game that's highly systemic and emergent from... Rockstar?!?!?! They know nothing about game design if that's the case lmao. Rockstar doesn't do that shit. Nothing they want out of this game is in Rockstar's wheel house beyond being set in an open world.
The plains maps are actually a feature, the battlefields you find yourself fighting on are actually a representation of where you were on the world map itself. So if you’re next to a bridge on the world map, you’ll be fighting on a bridge in the battle. You’re next to a big city on the world map, that city can be seen in the background of the battlefield.
When i play bannerlord on ps4 ts sometimes crashes when theres too much going on in a close proximity. Or if theres too much cav around me on both sides itll drop hella frames. The ps4 is NOT built to play BL im always worried it's gonna crash wheni get to the thick of it
17:01 The first Mount & Blade was actually really good at interesting/dynamic dialogue exactly like this. People of interest would remember how they felt about you and specifics about your previous encounters with them (especially if they ever bested you in battle, you've defeated them, they ever took lands from you, and/or they're just getting tired of seeing your face). They genuinely remembered you and it varied a lot depending on who it was and your relationship with them. *Bannerlord still has A LOT of catching up to do with Warband* in many ways, this being one of them.
Got to Agree with you. The fact that they're all killable is cool, but without the proper framework to have that happen and have them act more, well real is a damn shame. Plus, even now with tons of updates, diplomacy still feels like a second thought. If they do focus on anything, better diplomacy, more unique quests like the claimants, and mod support are definitely the priorities.
I mean, it has some catching up to do on a few things the other game had, but at the same time it has SO MUCH that we would never have dreamed to see in warband. and sincerely speaking, what it did better was more important than those details. maybe in the future they could develop a nemesis system so the NPC lords can have a bit more personality.
I have very little hope for this. They have had over 10 years making Bannerlord and its still not better than some warlord mods. Let alone vallinia. Mount and blade was the first alpha devolment game I ever bought.
@@ThEOlSnAkEHiPs yep, when I tried the game and realized that I had to install mods even for simple things that were in vanilla warband, like improving relations with the lords that you help in battle, i decided to wait
As a developer, any one of us would love to work on a game like you describe. The problem is that publishers, the people who pay for it, usually just don't want to take the financial risk to budget something design heavy like that. Small indie studios usually do not have the means.
Publishers want to increase the prices of games but reduce quality. I wouldn't mind paying 80-100 dollars for a full complete GREAT game that you can tell they took their time to make if it was a game like he described
As a paying customer, sack up(or ovary up, but Dear God I hope not. Already don't care if that's the case.) and find other means to acquire the money. In short, stop hiding behind "but the publisher". But the publisher is not a valid reason or excuse. It just proves you aren't worthy if that's what you and your dev team hide behind. Like family men who refuse to do the right thing because "I have a wife and kids to feed." It's pathetic.
@@williamlindroos2250 I did, and I stand by it. If you didn't like it, that's all the more reason to say it. So think about what you said, really think about it. Then take a long walk off a short pier.

How the actual fuck do you expect a company to be make a so called dream game without money? Id like to see you try and convince thousands of people working for free for years before theyd be able to make money.
Games like SpiderHeck (literally spiders with lightsabers and guns) made me realize video games could be literally anything and still be awesome. So literally any of your ideas could work.
Well, not *any* idea. There are plenty of ideas that wouldn’t work, but his ideas are so broad and innovative that they probably could. Problem is once you start narrowing it down, you might get something wrong.
I’ve put hundreds of hours into this game since the day one of early access. I’ve loved it so much. Been a huge Mount and blade fan since the original. It makes me so happy seeing other people talk about bannerlord
@Combatography Cant be too harsh on TW. What they've created is quite different from any other game. A lot of stuff they had to cover before putting in extra depth. That being said, its sad there hasn't been any new update in months.
I'm of the opposite opinion. From my experience, niche games getting popular often ends up in them becoming more "accessible" in order to please the normie crowd, and losing what made them great to begin with. They don't adapt to what the game is, they force it into being what they think it should be. It happened with Elder scrolls, It happned with Fallout, With CRPGs in genral
@Combatography seeing how blunt the comments were, think I'll get comfy in Seth channel seeing how tolerated the comments were, cool. In contrast to other channels comments section that raise their pitchforks when seeing an opposite comment towards a subject.
Honestly hair growth is one of the reasons red dead 2 is my favorite game. I’m not sure why survival games haven’t picked up on the fact that your characters features changing over time can give the player the feeling that their character has developed. It’s also just badass.
I wish someone would make a mod that would let you build a camp that grows into a village, then a castle, then spreads out into a couple of villages, then the castle develops into a city and you can choose how its built and progressed every step of the way
@KeltonBang I know! I don't know why they never tried implementing it later! They promised it to us, and then when they delivered it was just a Warband reskin with a broken crafting system
There is a mode similar to this idea, its called homestead but its last update was like 7 months ago, you can build your own little settlment there, but unfortunatly making it behave like a real settlment is not possible, you can interact with it and stuff but it dosent have its own economy, caravans dont visit, parties dont attack it. But it can produce certain materials like meat or grain dwpending on which buildings you made in it
Pleasantly surprised to see you cover this! I played Bannerlord on release and it really carried me through the early lockdowns Im hoping after the LOTR mod is done it'll finally catch up to warband for me
If this game doesn't get made, I have lost all hope in humanity. This literally sums up everything I have ever wanted in a game for literally my entire life.
Same. Bannerlord is probably the closest realization of this hypothetical game. Up until now, I've been scratching that itch by running a campaign that is literally a cross between D&D and Warhammer Fantasy.
@@williamarthur6644 bannerlord is honestly pretty crap, for such an anticipated game it really doesnt give much. Feels like its just run around with 200 soldiers and fight 1000 generic battles untill you get bored. Playing a good mod in warband is more fun simply because it has more stuff in it, even if the base game is even less exciting than bannerlord. Only thing that will make me play bannerlord again is some cool mods
@@12345678924439 Oh, I wouldn't recommend Bannerlord without mods. There are mods that improve quality of life aspects, make the political and economic system deeper, improve the combat. Honestly, the developers should just bite the bullet and incorporate all these mods into the game. Makes for a much better experience overall
Warbands is one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. The highs and lows as I conquered Calradia felt like they'd make an amazing TV series. It's not a perfect game, and it really does look rough, but sticking with it was completely worth it.
@@mr.crowgamer6250 you do know that there are mods exactly for that? Or do you want to play in the world of Game of Thrones ? There are mods for it.... Thats what made warband truly awesome. I didn't even play the unmodded version to be honest.
For anyone wondering, the castle he featured in the video was the Castillo de San Marcos located in St. Augustine FL! It’s the oldest masonry fort in the United States, and was built out of essentially seashell bricks :)
That's wild that I didn't recognize it. I was last there around the time this video was made. Really neat location, the seashell-limestone mixture was referred to as coquina, really nice place
I was on a tour there and the guide asked “Now what kind of rock is Castillo de San Marcos made out of?” and some kid in the back raised his hand and said “cocaine rocks” 😂😂😂
If you like For Honor's concept of multi-directional swinging then I would look into Kingdom Come: Deliverance's system. It's a bit difficult to get the hang of, but once you do it is fantastic. Being able to dictate the direction and placement of every swing and stab even in multi combat is SO satisfying.
My only Critique of the combat system is it was obviously designed for one on one fighting. Now I’ve gotten enough practice that I can competently deal with 3, maybe 4 people. More that that and it just becomes a slog
@@ntfoperative9432 I mean they were going for realism so you really shouldnt be able to fight that many people, unfortunately all you really have to do is just backpedal while fighting to pretty much win against any number of enemies. Half of the enemies will probably get stuck on a twig while you kill one of them and then the other half have to pause movement after like 2-5 steps before going for another 2-5 steps or just masterstrike spamming your enemies into the dirt. The ai could definetly be improved, but I still loved the game. Reminds me of gothic in the way you start off getting your ass kicked by even the easiest of enemies, to a total badass just massacring anybody standing in your way. The actual world itself was gorgeous too, I think they created quite possibly my favorite forests I've ever experienced in a game.
The combat system in KCD is good but once you learn the perfect parry the combo are useless and all your duels become quite easy. Plus the combo are all too hard to do. That’s just my opinion, beside of that it’s one of my fav game
Summary of the dream game: 1. 11:55 Bannerlord base 2. 12:22 Low fantasy Game of Thrones setting and gritty art style. 3. 12:58 Aging system like RDR2/Witcher 3 (my input: maybe succession systems like in CK3?) 4. 13:38 Sandbox type story 5. 13:57 For Honour combat style and executions, with RDR2 ragdolling and death animations (my input: Hellish Quart has some excellent swordplay and small injuries like cutting off a hand can end a fight - as it should) 6. 13:57 Tonnes of gear/armour variety - but realistically medieval 7. 15:53 Character relationships and development similar to the Nemsis system in Shadow of Mordor 8. 18:08 Co-op play with close friends (NOT servers etc.) 9. 19:09 Developed by Rockstar - for their skill at making open-worlds 10. 20:16 Bringing the BALLS format to other cool IP e.g. LOTR, Dune, Star Wars, GoT Besides fleshing out the aging system by adding a succession/political marriage system similar to CK3, and some of the realism from Hellish Quart, I think it would be cool to have a few units in your retinue who accompany you as you move around the world (like the party systems in Dragon Age etc.). Also, if your army moves out of your castle, they should exist in the open world e.g. have them set up camp, and have to move to the site of a battle or raid the countryside etc. Moving your army into the field should increase gold upkeep for supplies, and you could have a supply system like in HOI4 that applies negative penalties to strategic blunders like overextending/being encircled. It would add some strategic depth - you'd have to choose the terrain carefully and manage supplies, appoint a quartermaster and guard your supply lines. etc.
The moment i see "Developed by Rockstar" I know this is all coming from someone who has no clue what they're talking about. This video is asking for SYSTEMIC and emergent gameplay, which Rockstar does not do. Rockstar makes open world sets and fills them with scripted actors. They would never make this game. Even their skill at open worlds is arguable when you consider how non-functional the open world is besides offering brain dead NPCs to kill and a place to walk through between missions that have been scripted to an inch of their life. Seeing this comment tells me I don't know need to watch the video, it's just another unrealistic pipe dream from a video essayist who doesn't actually know much about games to begin with (most of them).
@@Sazed0 I think you're slightly misinterpreting the video. The creator never claimed they were a game dev or knew anything about game design, so idrk where you're getting that from. The part where Rockstar is mentioned as a possible developer for this idea is only about a minute long so I suggest actually watching the video and either ignoring that part or actually being optimistic for 60 seconds and listening to the points he made for why he thinks that (some are pretty decent). I do mostly agree with you at least on the Rockstar side of things, I get why the creator thinks they'd be good for this, but I also doubt this dream idea is something Rockstar would ever do even if given the chance. It's a little out of their ballpark in terms of combat systems. To me it seems more like something WarnerBros, CDPR, or Ubisoft would attempt. WarnerBros making a Shadow of War style game but in the world of GOT just sounds like it has the potential to be amazing. CDPR making what is basically The Witcher 3 but with a better story, more functional horses (just yoink RDR2's), and other gameplay aspects mentioned in the video such as retaining scars from battle or actually aging overtime just sounds like something they'd try making (maybe something similar will be in The Witcher 4). And love or hate the past 3 AC games, if Ubi pulled the AC element out, left the massive open world, and replaced the combat with what they already have from For Honor, they'd have the basic foundation for this dream idea (although knowing Ubi they'll find some way to destroy it with microtransactions). But would I go as far as to say this dream idea is unrealistic? No, considering the similar games that've already been made I don't think it's completely unrealistic or unachievable. I think if made into a good enough pitch and given enough time and resources any of the three companies I mentioned could probably take a stab at it and find quite a bit of success.
I say yes to bringing Balls system to GoT...but the others mentioned really just don't work for it. LOTR would be too limiting because of the Faction Relationships already being set in Stone. Star Wars it would have to be entirely too big and Disney has made most people lose all interest. Dune...same LOTR problem, it's really only two Factions so pretty limited. LOTR and Dune would work much better as the Typical Open World RPGs, and Star Wars is just Cancer at this point.
@@krusty375Nah, GoT is perfectly set to be this type of Game or a Total War Game. One of the biggest reasons why the GoTs Game flopped was because it didn't have any Depth and was too small scale focusing on your hedge knight character doing practically nothing of any note. Make it like Bannerlord (Though we also need a Total War version)
No joke, you have literally spot on described every single point that my friends and I have for years. We have been so invested in this idea we've started writing our own lore to go with it.
I forget where I found it but there was this mod that was being developed where ai is used to generate dialogue. From what I remember they've only developed it for those randoms at the little towns. You can ask about different cities and empires and people using custom text inserts, and the villager will reply talking about whats going on in the world and will only know what that villager would know. This could very obviously go very far.
If you haven't yet, you should DEFINITELY try Kenshi. Like Mount&Blade, it's not easy on the eyes but it's an open sandbox world that does NOT care about your existence. Kenshi is one of the most brutal unforgiving open worlds. And Beep is greatest. If you know, you know. Love the ideas! We need more BALLS games!
The thing that makes Mount and Blade is that there are simply no other games like it. Nothing else can scratch the itch of this game, but I do hope that it gets some competitors because it's needed.
im kinda on the fence here. His Ideas sound more like he would turn Bannerlord into a more Arcady Experience, with even quicker battles (the fact he wants enemies to die even faster seems weird, in my games they already die withing 2-3 hits - no matter what armor they have). However the Notion that the game should take inspiration from Game of Thrones and Crusader Kings is definitly what everyone is thinking and wanting.
Keep in mind that the original Mount&Blade was actually made by just a husband and wife :D And they slowly expanded into Warband and now into Bannerlord, they are adding and growing features all the time, but by all marks they are just an indie studio, and I am very much sure if they ever make a 3rd game it will look a lot like you invisioned :)

Just to add a GameDev POV. For the last question. About Coop. Why do they not do it? Making something multiplayer requires a lot of groundwork you don't see in the final product. And everything you make in the game afterwards becomes 3-4x harder to implement with functional multiplayer than it would in singleplayer. 4x as much potential for something to break, or get out of sync, etc. So that is why often they won't bother with it. It's just takes 4x as long to do all that work
This sounds like the kind of game that's awesome to brainstorm ideas for, would be a nightmare to develop once feature creep really kicks in, and then would die very quick once it launched cause it took so long to make that the hype just couldn't last So bannerlord+
The trick? Just don’t fucking make it public till its ready. And I mean ready ready. Not Bethesda or Buggisoft ready. People hate to see a fake trailer with a fake date 2 years down the line but rather get surprised that you can play it now! Then no hype is built creating such unsurmountable expectations. @@user-hr7nm4td1s they can but won't keep adding the stuff. The 2.0 version is still far. The fact that Warband still has more diplomatic options that Bannerlord amazes me, and I can see I'm not alone in that. Right now, the game is fine, but it could still be much more. Taleworlds is a small studio, but it's no excuse. Indie development is currently surprising most of the industry with their releases.
Shit I've been waiting decades for this game, but I'm honestly left shocked at the current state of gaming. With every generation games are becoming more and more "streamlined". They've all become as broad as an ocean and as deep as a puddle.
Bannerlord with a co-op story. You can start a town by doing what Medieval Dynasty does with building. You can gain influence and bring people to your town and build a prospering settlement just like Medieval Dynasty. Your prisoners in the towns could be recruited as villagers. You can still raid towns and declare wars on factions as well just like normal Bannerlord gameplay. This would be the perfect game
One thing I wish Bannerlord had is proper diplomacy, not just at war or at peace. A more expansive diplomacy system where you can actually forge alliances, maybe demand tribute, there could be instances where you and another kingdom have fought so many times it turns into a feud of sorts
thats never going to come sadly. taleworlds was never good at that sort of thing. and its really the thing that would make so much replay value when you compare it to a grand strategy game like europa universalis 4 or one of the total war games that got that side of the game correct (three kingdoms is a good example of a full diplomacy system)
@@jimster1111EU4 doesn't represent it good enough. Modded CK2/CK3 is the perfect game for the overworld you just have to give it bannerlord customisation and total war style formations which are actual mods iirc, at least for ck3 to bannerlord.

When I play it, I see everything you're talking about. And when I log off I look out my window and say "One day..." Great video(s). Can see all the work you put in it!
This is exactly what I think of when I play Bannerlord. It's an amazing game but the limitless potential that it has, that it'll never meet, is what bums me out. It has a potential that it could never reach but hopefully one day a game like you described is made. Great vid man
My dream game would probably be completely different but somehow you've managed to make your dream game more appealing than anything I've managed to think up so far so congrats I'm on board. Please Saudi Oil Prince, buy out a AAA game studio and have them create this game for us.
I love your point about co-op. It is so slept on. I can't imagine the number of extra hours and potentially even money for extra content I would have put into games knowing I could enjoy it with my friends with some carefully crafted PVE. Elden ring was a blast for me for this reason. I would also say Bioware is a good candidate for your dream game developer.
funny enough warbands multiplayer community is what made the game relevant for so long. people like to say they play the mount and blade games for singleplayer and dont care about multiplayer but alot of those dudes never even played warband. the nepolionic wars DLC had hundreds of players online at once years after release. bannerlords basegame multiplayer is lucky to have a single siege match thats more than halfway full.
@@jimster1111 the devs really tried to push bannerlord as a new game for esports when it came out, it completely alienated the clan scene that made the multiplayer actually fun in the first place.
I wanna agree, but how come modders can take the modding tools given and add a lot of the quality of life tools, like RTS camera, Diplomacy, or Garrison manager? Shouldn’t the developers be able to do the same thing with the actual source code?
I had hundreds of hours in this game before I realized you can click and drag when placing troop formations to have more control over how deep or how wide the formation is. Really helped me with deployments and in battles as well.
I am so glad that I am not alone in my dream game of a Rockstar-caliber Star Wars GTA. It would be such a simple transition -- you'd be a bounty hunter hunting down contracts, go into seedy alien bars, and fly around/steal various vehicles. A man can dream. Love the recent vids!
Let me be honest with you, a For Honor combat system for M&B sounds like a really bad idea. For Honor's combat works with its focus on melee-combat and one on one duels but trying to implement that in mass combat with hundreds of units like in M&B sounds like an absolute nightmare. In addition to that, you would have to factor in cavalry, ranged units, formations, strategy, and much more. I do not see any scenario in which a For Honor combat system could work in M&B unless you severely gimp the strategy and NPC count. There is a reason why For Honor only has a max of 8 players in a game. And For Honor is a game where locking on to your enemies is important to combat, how are you going to do that with HUNDREDS of units?
Nooo please don't tell me the channel got hacked. That new video with the comments turned off is worrying. If it is hacked i hope that you can get it back for how much effort you've put in it.
This is an amazing idea for a video game and would easily be my favorite if it was created. One thing I would love to be in the game though is destruction mechanics. Like if you start a fire it's aftermath is visible or if you raid a village the town is viably destroyed or messed up in some way.
I just got back into Bannerlord recently after playing it at release. It seems like they made some nice improvements but as you point out, the game could and possibly should be more polished at this time. Also, fantastic video, great point about AI, and your game sounds great.
I have no idea why scar systems are super rare in games. It'd bring so much immersion with such a small visual change, and I imagine it wouldn't be SUPER hard to implement such a system. btw also love the point about not being able to direct where the scar lands, you would have to live with it
Probably because people are playing as establishes characters in most games. Or otherwise spending hours in a customisation screen and don't want their perfect face and body ruined 2 hours in if they get a random nasty hit.
Your passion for this subject is super infectious. Something the current games industry feels like it's lacking. I seriously hope someone with considerable pull notices you because, mate you've got me sold.
If you added something similar to Medieval Dynasty into this BALLS game, then you’d improve even further on your own character immersion as well as your friends and family. Plus building your own castle or town and then being able to actually rule over your people would be pretty sick.
Eh, I feel like that's a little too ambitious and too many baskets. I'd rather them focus on perfecting what they are great at. However, if they are geniuses and ended up doing what both of us say, all my pants would have cum. I don't even wear all of my pants.
imagine Skyrim, Banner Lords, the guild, ck2 and 3 and total war had a child like imagine an rpg with the ability to recruit and build an army, with a deep economy system were you too can establish your own Business and the grand strategy aspects similar to paradox games like ck2 and vic 2 and battles playing on a similar scale to total war with the AI using actual tactics but with the controls similar but more polished to Banner Lords, so that especially in bigger battles you are like one part of the giant army doing what you and the other generals have discussed the day before the battle
Well since you were wondering: Scatter is one of the commands that you should never touch until you have a better understanding of the tactics. And for those who have attained an understanding of tactics on par with Alexander the great, Scatter can be used to spread out your archer line, especially when horsemen are sparsely attacking them. Or scatter can be used moments before a smaller infantry line clashes with your own to spread out your infantry and envelop the enemy. It is not recommended that you use scatter. Stick with shield walls instead it’s very effective
15:51 I couldn't have said it better. When I play a game, I want to be able to create my character and to give him his own unique story. I want NPCs to have an actual opinion on my character, and to remember our last encounter. In Bannerlord, -100 relations just means they'll ban you from their castles and be slightly moody while talking to you. For me, -100 relations should be a sign that you did something that would make an NPC absolutely despise you (like slaughtering their family). I want that NPC to actively seek revenge, and to have an emotional breakdown when they next encounter my character. I want them to challenge me to a duel to the death. I just want better and more immersive interactions with the NPCs to make them seem more human, whether they're a farmer, a soldier or a king.
Seeing you describe this "dream game" reminded me a lot of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It has those relationships, it has huge battles, it has the EXACT combat system you mentioned, and it has very detailed intricacies that tie into items and gear (for example, wearing dark clothes makes you less conspicuous). I really thing you should try out that game, and who knows! You might fall in love with it. I will say, it doesn't have coop, which sucks, but its a fantastic game with a lot of characteristics of the perfect game you described!
Warhorse Studios is an excellent candidate. With successful implementation of coop, it could potentially serve to be an even more successful title for Warhorse than even Kingdom Come. Their monetization practices aren't predatory or egregious either, which I can't say the same for Rockstar.
a mount&blade style version of kingdom come with army and kingdom building would be out of this world amazing. we can only hope kc2 will come remotely close to that. what held the first game back was the horrible cry engine so large battles were way smaller than they were initially meant to be
You just reminded me of how awesome bannerlord was, i love the fact that you can build an entire nation in a matter of months playing it then it disappears with a blink of an eye thanks to another group and you repeat the cycle.

Coming back to this video a year later, and we are still waiting for this dream game. The Nemesis system combined with a Bannerlord style game with more RPG elements would truly be the dream game... Hopefully someone utilizes AI soon to build a game like this.

Not gonna lie you described my dream game as well. I've always wanted a game that was an rpg/rts game, basically skyrim mixed with stronghold 2 (castle rts similar to age of empires.) with a character combat system similar to shadow of Mordor. I'm currently looking into unreal as well to try to make this. we'll see if it ever gets made.
It took 100 people 3 years to make Skyrim after a decade of prior experience. So the Skyrim part of your game will take you 300 years, give or take a few decades. If you want to add further features, expect even more time.
@jesfest If I were making a clone of skyrim from scratch copying the engine, the code, mechanics, music and so on and so forth, then yes it might take me 300 years. Probably more honestly. The primary thing I'm looking for from skyrim is the richness of quests with good story telling. Now admitedly, that would take the longest amount of time, once mechanics, graphics and environment were made. I don't think it would take three hundred years, but it would certainly take a lot, assuming I were working on it completely solo, which I don't think I would do.
Wow man great video, you hit the nail straight on the head with this one. You manged to comprise so many different clips, references and ideas in one place and talk about something that so many people really wanted to hear, all the things you talked about and referenced are so relatable its unreal. Who knows what the future holds, I for want to see the balls dream realised one day and its our generation that can do it.
Currently, if you want more from Mount and Blade and you've only played Bannerlord, take a look into Warband's modding scene. Three years out it's still the superior experience
I pretty much grew up playing Warband on my nana's old ass computer and it's where alot of my memories and knowledge of modding came from...however I cannot go back to that game, I know graphics aren't everything but holy shit.....it ain't aging too well, chief lmao
I never played Warband because of GFX. The gameplay would hook me in instantly, but I just don't wanna do all that grinding from scratch. @@RealityZGaming
There's actually a GOT mod for Bannerlord called Trial of the Seven Kingdoms and they did a pretty good job as far as implementing the map and adding a bunch of different items like the reddish Lannister armor and new horse armor etc.
I've been on the fence about trying bannerlord... but now I'm convinced. Thanks! Also I really want to play your game. Someone make this guy a creative director!
Thank you for always making my day whenever you upload. I don't think there's another content creator that has as much heart and passion for the content they make and the topics they discuss. Truly from the bottom of my heart, love you brother
My dream game would be a lot like what you described, but with one key difference. I always felt 3rd person is for people who are most interested in how their character looks and the gear he's accumulated, versus what you experience in the world before your eyes in 1st person. Sadly, I know I'm in the minority and there is such a disconnect between medieval or D&D style games, and the visceral feel of a 1st person experience that you get with military shooters.
I was just watching Did you know gaming, and it seems there was a mass hack with them and a few other TH-camrs. It seems Jack might have been one of them.
My additions on top of yours would be in depth, slow, brick by brick base building. Imagine how incredible would it be to go from a hill fort, scrounged together just in the nick of time, to an imperial city, a bulwark against those who dare challenge you. Going from wood forts full of strategical oversights, blind spots, and mistakes, that you learn from as you grow, to fortresses forged from bloody, brutal experience. Like how every solider you have, was hired face to face, every wall protecting you, was put there with the help of your hands, seeing your defences hold back the hordes, filling you with the same pride as you winning a battle without a single casualty, and every wall that crumbles holds that same sting of loss, your blood, sweat, and tears not enough to protect you. Hundreds of story hooks, like a messenger riding in on horseback, with urgent news, your shipment cant get through a bandits toll, you need this iron, so you set off to handle these matters personally, and make these highwaymen suffer for their mistake of halting your progress, for putting your people at risk, and for just being witless dicks. Plague on your people, blight in the fields, and enemies marching towards the gates, what will you do in the face of these challenges. A great feast, but there is little time for merriment, you have one night to make allys, forge alliances, gain favour, or, to attempt a coup. Which lords and ladys will you focus on, what will you say to entice them, to gain their support, or what will you say that offends them deeply. Will they challenge you to a duel? Declare war? Secretly plot your downfall? Or will you manage to save face, quelling their wrath... for the time being. As well as hard dilemmas cropping up on occasion, you are on the march to counter a besieging army, when an urgent request for aid comes to you. Will you change course, and hope the castle can hold out just a few days longer, unsure if you will arrive to the fortification captured and defended by your enemy? Do you ignore the pleas for aid, and lose reputation with the other lords as a coward who leaves the innocent for dead in the name of their conquest? Do you split your war band, hoping to deal with both at the same time, risking defeat on two fronts? Decisions and opportunities to elevate you from a lord, to a legend. Basically just, the ability to create more in depth play-throughs, each one you come across new landscapes to analyze for the best placement for a town, the most advantageous spot for a defensive fortress, or the most profitable location for a tavern. The opportunity to prove yourself as a true leader, not through combat, but through leading the common folk through trying times without losing their favour, the rewards being extra renown, increased production, or special rewards, like a new title, a holiday in your honour, or a citywide favour that can be used to, rally every able body person to fight with you, or to raise taxes temporarily, or forgiveness for failing to provide when famine strikes, or fire burns their homes. (Would also be pretty neat if you could like, install yourself as the owner of the tavern, or any building, and just run a business for a while, get some related story hooks, etc.)
The hair growing and aging made me think of the Fable games (the first one mostly because you know...). What an innovation this game was, with your character changing based on your choices, your alignment, and the time you played... and that was like 20 year ago!
You keep outdoing youself Jack. Besides the Red Dead/Dead Loop video, this might be my favorite upload to date. Keep up the great work on these videos.
Your ideas sound like THE dream game for me m. It's what I've always wished video games could become. Bannerlord does a fantastic job of mixing Total War, Chivalry and Crusader Kings all into one. Its main problem is that it can get a bit shallow. The mods can help, though.
I don't think I'll ever understand or relate to the gamer base that can't play absolute masterpieces because of the graphics. Let alone ones with superior art style.
I liked what you said at the end about Rockstar really having the potential to capitalize on that medieval multiplayer open world game, its so true. I've slightly been checking on their 'Project Medieval' that was leaked years ago and is apparently scheduled to come out after the next GTA. It basically is just a red dead/gta size openworld game set in medieval times So hopefully i can play that game you dreamt of when I'm in my 30's 🤣
"summoning a horse"
You are out with your retinue, doing your thing, and BAM!

@tomino5201 I don't really agree with this. Look at all that Starsector has for example. I genuinely see it as superior in many ways and they get away with that because of the simple graphics. @@tomino5201 That's obvious but for me it's the "developed by Rockstar" part that REALLY tells me they have no idea what they're talking abuot. @@tomino5201 Instead the money gets put toward another generic Ubisoft title yay
I give props to TaleWorlds for this. This increases the potency of the immersion.

Bannerlord really screwed the AI by making them disposable, so none of them are unique or interesting. They are all just generic bleh.
@@jacobotstot2021I think they should be some unique ones.

As a developer, any one of us would love to work on a game like you describe. The problem is that publishers, the people who pay for it, usually just don't want to take the financial risk to budget something design heavy like that. Small indie studios usually do not have the means.

Honestly hair growth is one of the reasons red dead 2 is my favorite game. I’m not sure why survival games haven’t picked up on the fact that your characters features changing over time can give the player the feeling that their character has developed. It’s also just badass.
An indie game called Project Zomboid got around having hair growth in their game, but yes, a large number of survival games miss that feature.
Progression of a character through your appearance is why I play through fable 1 and 2 every year
There’s multiple survival games with hair growth.
One reason I start young in Bannerlord.
I made a hair and beard growth mod for Bannerlord but it probably doesn't work anymore after all the updates
I wish someone would make a mod that would let you build a camp that grows into a village, then a castle, then spreads out into a couple of villages, then the castle develops into a city and you can choose how its built and progressed every step of the way
YYYEEEEESSSSSS!!! This is what's been missing.

I played Bannerlord on release and it really carried me through the early lockdowns
Im hoping after the LOTR mod is done it'll finally catch up to warband for me
If this game doesn't get made, I have lost all hope in humanity. This literally sums up everything I have ever wanted in a game for literally my entire life.

For anyone wondering, the castle he featured in the video was the Castillo de San Marcos located in St. Augustine FL! It’s the oldest masonry fort in the United States, and was built out of essentially seashell bricks :)
That's so cool haha, I was there a few months ago and was like "that looks familiar"

Fucking sick game mate so unique one of best experiences I’ve had on ps5
Kingdom come deliverance and for honor have the absolute worst combat systems ever made. Chivalry 2 is peak
Summary of the dream game:
1. 11:55 Bannerlord base
2. 12:22 Low fantasy Game of Thrones setting and gritty art style.
3. 12:58 Aging system like RDR2/Witcher 3 (my input: maybe succession systems like in CK3?)
4. 13:38 Sandbox type story
5. 13:57 For Honour combat style and executions, with RDR2 ragdolling and death animations (my input: Hellish Quart has some excellent swordplay and small injuries like cutting off a hand can end a fight - as it should)
6. 13:57 Tonnes of gear/armour variety - but realistically medieval
7. 15:53 Character relationships and development similar to the Nemsis system in Shadow of Mordor
8. 18:08 Co-op play with close friends (NOT servers etc.)
9. 19:09 Developed by Rockstar - for their skill at making open-worlds
10. 20:16 Bringing the BALLS format to other cool IP e.g. LOTR, Dune, Star Wars, GoT
Besides fleshing out the aging system by adding a succession/political marriage system similar to CK3, and some of the realism from Hellish Quart, I think it would be cool to have a few units in your retinue who accompany you as you move around the world (like the party systems in Dragon Age etc.).
Its the mod by block. He recently made the same thing with skyrim

im kinda on the fence here.
Bro the relationship aspect you're talking about is basically what Crusader Kings 3 has to offer. It's a strategy game in a similar vein.

It's just takes 4x as long to do all that work
This sounds like the kind of game that's awesome to brainstorm ideas for, would be a nightmare to develop once feature creep really kicks in, and then would die very quick once it launched cause it took so long to make that the hype just couldn't last
So bannerlord+
Alas that it isn't implemented at this time, but there is a mod for that in the steam workshop to act as a stand-in
thats never going to come sadly. taleworlds was never good at that sort of thing. and its really the thing that would make so much replay value when you compare it to a grand strategy game like europa universalis 4 or one of the total war games that got that side of the game correct (three kingdoms is a good example of a full diplomacy system)
To a degree, that's implemented with the opinion system. It actually affects war declarations and raiding.

New video about the benefits of two factor authentication coming soon?

If you're looking for coop there's Bellwright, which is from my understanding a smaller version of Bannerlord, where you're a leader of a village.
This is an amazing idea for a video game and would easily be my favorite if it was created. One thing I would love to be in the game though is destruction mechanics. Like if you start a fire it's aftermath is visible or if you raid a village the town is viably destroyed or messed up in some way.

I have no idea why scar systems are super rare in games. It'd bring so much immersion with such a small visual change, and I imagine it wouldn't be SUPER hard to implement such a system.
btw also love the point about not being able to direct where the scar lands, you would have to live with it
MGS3 was great for this. If you refused to pull out a crossbow bolt or bullet it would stay in your forever.
Probably because people are playing as establishes characters in most games. Or otherwise spending hours in a customisation screen and don't want their perfect face and body ruined 2 hours in if they get a random nasty hit.
They had a simple scar system in the first fable game
Yeah I’d wish medieval dynasty & BannerLord could go together
imagine Skyrim, Banner Lords, the guild, ck2 and 3 and total war had a child
like imagine an rpg with the ability to recruit and build an army, with a deep economy system were you too can establish your own Business and the grand strategy aspects similar to paradox games like ck2 and vic 2 and battles playing on a similar scale to total war with the AI using actual tactics but with the controls similar but more polished to Banner Lords, so that especially in bigger battles you are like one part of the giant army doing what you and the other generals have discussed the day before the battle

Their monetization practices aren't predatory or egregious either, which I can't say the same for Rockstar.
a mount&blade style version of kingdom come with army and kingdom building would be out of this world amazing. we can only hope kc2 will come remotely close to that.
what held the first game back was the horrible cry engine so large battles were way smaller than they were initially meant to be
@@topy706 is there meant to be a 2nd one?? That would be awesome
@@Grahamalot yea theres job openings for a new warhorse game. its most definitely kc 2
I’m actually replaying this rn cuz I’m watching game of thrones and want to play a medieval game😂
I love the amount of effort you put into your videos and how you make videos on topics you are actually passionate about instead of mundane trendy topics, I just wish u got more views. Keep up the good work man, i love your vids.
Thank you! The nerds.. will come.
fellow gojira enjoyer
Hope you get your account back bro
Crazy this happened in one day too😭
i was about to say like there’s no way he’s promoting a damn genshin impact mod menu 💀
Thank you!
My boy Jack is hacked 😔😔
"It was different time" 15:58 😂😂😂
They done hacked my boy Jack 😢
My man is literally explaining what I've always wanted
Jack has fully converted me to a balls believer
Thanks Jay!! Glad to hear your for the balls cause!
Currently, if you want more from Mount and Blade and you've only played Bannerlord, take a look into Warband's modding scene. Three years out it's still the superior experience
Play full invasion mod
I pretty much grew up playing Warband on my nana's old ass computer and it's where alot of my memories and knowledge of modding came from...however I cannot go back to that game, I know graphics aren't everything but holy shit.....it ain't aging too well, chief lmao
I never played Warband because of GFX. The gameplay would hook me in instantly, but I just don't wanna do all that grinding from scratch. @@RealityZGaming
After playing Bannerlord I can't go back.
I don't care about graphics, but Warband's UI is terrible and so many things are hidden in menus.
@@ksh2596 Personally I always found Warband's UI to be simpler and more stylish whereas the Bannerlord UI just seemed like a massive grey downgrade
My man got HACKED
I've had Bannerlord on my Wishlist for a while now. This video has convinced me to pick it up and give it a go.
Are you enjoying it?
You still playing?
Are we not going to talk about how his channel got completely hacked
Jack your Channel got hacked, there is a video about a mod menu posted
Thank goodness he had people in the comments letting him know about the situation
What an innovation this game was, with your character changing based on your choices, your alignment, and the time you played... and that was like 20 year ago!
dont let this distract you from the fact that Jack is a vampire that lures his victims in with his eyes
Great video, all of us nerds dream about something like this. Im just surprised you havent mentioned witcher or cdpr.
You know a video about a game is good when it makes you want to play it yourself. Great work as always, Jack : )
You keep outdoing youself Jack. Besides the Red Dead/Dead Loop video, this might be my favorite upload to date. Keep up the great work on these videos.
thanks sock
@@JackSather Also I see you using a lot of Twitch clips for the videos you put together. When's a typical time of day you would stream?
Warband with its Overhaul mods was even MORE fun
You should play the "A Clash of Kings" overhaul or Perisno
awesome video Jack, Bannerlord is a bittersweet game, it’s amazing but leaves a lot to be desired.
It basically is just a red dead/gta size openworld game set in medieval times
So hopefully i can play that game you dreamt of when I'm in my 30's 🤣
Lol same 😂
