    Thanks of course for spending the time to post. For my first P365 I did a cleaning b4 the range test, but did not disassemble the striker. Pistol gave light primer strikes and some failure to fire. Took out the striker and found very small metal shavings and grease gunk in the channel. Also used a roll up of 400 grit paper to buff the channel. The cases showed excessive striker drag on the primer as if the striker was delayed in retraction. After more cleaning and two boxes of bullets it seems to be happy now.

    Thanks to you, and other great people on here, I can finally finish sprucing up and customizing my own P365. I had bought mine almost 3 years ago when it was still somewhat “fresh” in the market. I wanted to make my P365 my own and I only bought a True Precision threaded barrel and a Griffin microcomp (functions very well still. Just don’t use too much Loctite to keep it on tight). I had bought other accessories to make it own, like Talon grips and a micro red dot. But, I wanted to customize the guts as well, the trigger and Striker components. I can finally start again on this build since more OEM parts have became more available in the past 3 years.

    I purchased a P365X built in 2021 and the striker and striker chanel were filthy with grease when I first did the initial cleaning upon receiving it. Mine has the "updated" striker and it's all black, luckily I haven't had any issues with light strikes or any of the pronounced drag of the earlier strikers. Thanks for the awesome videos as always.

    Thanks for the very detailed instructions on removing, cleaning and reinstalling the P365 striker. I have two P365's, an April '18 build and an Oct '18 build. I had heard of numerous people saying how dirty or contaminated the striker channel on these pistols were as they came from the factory. So following your instructions I decided to look at both my pistols, and I have to say their striker channels were both still fairly clean even after having shot several hundred rounds through each. The April build had the number '7' striker in it and the Oct build had the number '8' striker. The 7 striker doesn't have the built up concave base at the bottom of the striker pin as the 8 version does, and the striker assembly spring is more coiled up vs the later striker whose spring is more straight. I've heard the latest striker has a modified tip with a bit of a bevel which is supposed to reduce the striker drag issue. One thing that was interesting was the difference in the striker safety spring. My Oct '18 build striker safety spring looks just like yours in the video, while my April '18 build spring is shorted with tighter coils. I noticed the newer safety spring seems to provide more force on the striker safety than the earlier one. I think I'll order a new striker and striker safety spring for my older P365 since they've both seem to be improved over the original parts. Looking forward to more content from you on the P365.

  • @Nosanku

    Bought mine new a week ago 1/23 and tore it down to clean it. The striker cavity was soaked in that heavy silicon feeling lube they put in their guns to prevent rust and corrosion during storage . Also, the deepest and smallest diameter section that centers the striker was full of sludge and gunk. After putting it back together and dry firing it, the sound of the striker "firing" sounds much crisper. Before it was almost a rubber boingy thump . I'm pretty sure I'd have had some light strike issues if I hadn't taken it apart and cleaned it out.

    I've owned my new Sig P365XL RomeoZero for just about 2 weeks now and learned of your channel by happenstance. And while I've not yet had a chance to actually take my gun out and shoot it yet, I've learned a LOT about the platform from subscribing to and watching your videos.
    I must come clean now and profess that I used to be a guy who felt that the sun rose and set on the M1911A1 (blame my military and LEO background, ok?) and initially ABSOLUTELY HATED the Glock ANYTHING platform.
    Until......
    I won't bore you with the details but for a couple of centuries it seems (not really...I'm not THAT old and besides...) I became a Glock Fan Boi and I carried virtually NOTHING but a Glock of one sort or another (G22/G17/G27/G26/G21C), either OWB for range training or IWB and CCW because 'Murica, By GOD!!
    But I cross dress, er, digress. (Oops!)
    Then I started reading about and watching videos on the Sig P365 platform and all its iterations and thought to myself, "Hmm, Self. Maybe it's time to look at something smaller and lighter and with a RDS on it because of my aging eyes." Now, granted, I'd wanted to upgrade one/all of my Glock guns to incorporate a RDS of some sort because my eyes are no longer 20/15 of my youth but, DAAAYYYUUUMMM!! The cost to buy enough modified slides for each platform or even have the original slides modified would be a small fortune and that didn't even take into consideration the cost to add a RDS to them all. Which brings us full circle to the Sig.
    As luck would have it, I "let" my Significant Other upgrade her wedding band a fair bit and in return she bought me the Sig P365XL RomeoZero and I'm as happy as a Puppy with two Peckers, I tell ya!! LMAO!!
    And STILL I haven't had an opportunity to take it out and shoot the thing. But I hope/want to some day SOON!!
    Anyhoodle, I doubt you'll ever happen to see my post, much less respond, but I want to tell you I appreciate your videos (of which I'll be watching as I find them) and all the education they have given me. Keep up the good work and maybe one day we'll see each other out at the range.
    God Bless and Take Care.

      Bro!!!! That was the best comment ever!!!!!!!! Hahaha. So awesome. I really hope you enjoy and come to love your new SIG. If you happen to go to a range and they have rentals you’re gonna wanna try the X5 legion as well. Out of all the cities I own that is my absolute favorite to shoot. It’s almost like cheating. And I believe every SIG going forward will have optic cuts on them from the factory. And good news Sigg ditch their proprietary option bolt hole pattern so now many more different optics will fit without any plate or modification. I hope you enjoy the videos. I really appreciate your compliment and your awesome comment! 🙏🏼

    My slide end cap started sliding down during shooting during the last trip to the range. I snapped it back in place and it came loose again the next mag. Your video showed me there is a new design that presumably retains the back plate better. I called SIG and they sent me a new sleeve. It is different design at the back (cap interface) then the original (1/29/19 pistol born on date) and looks like the one in your video. Seems like better lockup. Will test and hopefully will fix my issue.

      Mine is the same way. There isn’t a plunger but rather I had to use a small screwdriver and force the plastic block towards the inside - towards the center of the slide. Once it cleared, I could start to pull the plate off but still had to keep tension on it. To get the new plate on had to do the same thing to get it to clear. Not easy at all.

They said they could not find it on any parts list and they put it back together without it. Their gun seemed to run fine afterwards. I just removed mine and the small piece came out of mine as well. Any idea what that may be?

      jaxhouse 28 ok. I wasn’t ignoring you I was trying to find the correct answer as I don’t own a XL. Ok so the rubber piece is a buffer that goes between the striker housing and the slide to keep tension on the end cap and keeps the cap from dropping down. Without the buffer there is a likelihood the end cap can slide down.

      @@SigGuy Thanks...I may have to wait for a tutorial on how to reinstall it. :)
      I couldn't figure out how/where to put it back. Thanks again!

      @@SigGuy Update: I put that little rubber piece back, where I thought it should go, and found it a pain. In the mean time on a forum I saw a mention that has been redesigned eliminating the need for the little rubber piece. Just called Sig to confirm and was told yes that I has been redesigned eliminating the need for the rubber buffer but that part is not listed for sale to the general public, that it is an armorer's part. Look forward to when you get an XL for your opinions and tips. Thanks! Also excited to be part of the Facebook groups that you mentioned.

      jaxhouse 28 thanks for the update. Gonna be a long wait lol. I don’t plan on getting the XL or the X5 Legion. No need for them and theres not enough of a difference to make me want one. 365 is supposed to be small small small which it is. XL? Might as well run a sub compact IMO. X5 Legion.... really only the grip module is different. If that had put more bells and whistles I would have grabbed one. Anyway I heard about the redesign also. I just can’t comment on something I don’t have or know very little about. Thank you for the info. I’m sure it will help many as you are probably the 20th person to PM me about not knowing where that piece goes! Haha. On a side note.... all kinds of 320 and 365 goodies coming up next month. Thank you sir.

    No one ever explains why it’s supposed to be kept bone dry. I appreciate the content but I just like to know the how the what and the why of it all 😂 I’m guessing it’s for the simple fact that any liquid in there might attract firing debris and such?

    • @SigGuy
      @SigGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is correct. Obviously the striker is spring loaded. It also has an extremely tiny spring that retracts the striker. If it’s full of lube that has collected carbon and other debris the strikers momentum will be greatly affected causing problems sick as light strikes.

    I'm not a gunsmith but I've had 60 years experience in assembling, dis-assembling and tinkering with all kinds of guns.That being said: after multiple views of your video and multiple efforts, I can not free the back plate to remove the striker.

    The updated version is garbage. Easy to destroy the striker sleeve when you remove it. One of the worst fixes for a firearm problem I have ever seen.

    • @SigGuy
      @SigGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      So what you are saying is you prefer the back plate sliding off while in a self-defense situation? Once you understand how it works its not a problem removing it with the proper tools.

    • @bungalobill7941
      @bungalobill7941 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SigGuy No. I'm saying it's a jankey fix on a $600 firearm. Any critical part on a firearm that can be compromised or pretty much destroyed after a few removals is a jankey fix. Period.
      That being said, the 365/365XL are awesome pistols. The 365XL is my regular carry pistol. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
      My opinion: Sig should include a couple extra striker sleeves in the box when you buy one. They could even raise the price a couple bucks on an item that probably doesn't cost them more than a buck each.
