Good to see you out in the shop great information as always. That 272 reminds me of the people that buy a car and drive it till it breaks, never change the oil just gas.
Great video-- These huskys are real easy to work on and designed mechanic friendly-says the 40 year heavy equipment mechanic--and old saw collector and wood cutter...
Thanks for saving me a ton of time, wasted beers and fs & bs my friend.........this kinda info is rather hard to come by in my neck of the jungle.......much appreciated
When it comes to bottom ends, I leave it to people that know what they're doing like you walt. I sometimes don't notice the subtle differences till it's to late. Nice video.
Thanx for the great vids. Really empowering for one that is nervous about tearing into these older non -disposable saws. I like to run them till there’s nothing left but there’s always enough left to keep these goin!
Thank you , I'm currently working on a dumpster rescue 66 and the flywheel nut was missing. Now I know that I need a 10mm x 1 nut . I believe that my flywheel has ( V3) on it, its a Yugoslavian saw.
Hello Sir Your video served as a reference. I am going to repair Husqvarna 162SE1983 year from now on. The screw of the crank is flywheel side M10x1.0mm and screw 1/213TPI of the clutch. Crank using it for 61, 266, 268, 272 series is a screw of M10 and M8. A screw and taper and screw size are different from 162SE in this. However, the crank is the same size. I can install it in 162SE if I change three of a flywheel and the crank assembly for a clutch. However, the positions of the ignition coil having a problem with are different. Look for an ignition timing, and it makes key WAY newly; is necessary, but there is it. There is the same problem in 61-1979 year and the later generation. There is the possibility that can be settled with an ignition timing and a clutch, a flywheel, a crankshaft. I want to try to look for an ignition timing. Swap can make much series into even BTDC if I understand it. Thank you
I had a m10x1 but there are a couple versions, at a minimum one for single coil and one for twin coil saws. Think I covered all that in a video, might have been this one
Can you put a newer fine thread clutch and flywheel into a coarse threaded clutch bottom end. Has a two piece ignition. I mean i dont mind if i have to buy a newer bottom end because ill just run a 266 and a 272 but would liek to keep one saw if possible.
Hyway is fine I guess, but I haven't had any of the seals fail. So far so good on all of them. I still prefer to use OEM as they are cheap, but really have no reason other than it feels right by instinct
I got a jonsered 625. The handle, gas tank is broken. For the life of me I can't find a handle and when i do its 170.00 bucks.. yet i heard, trying to confirm... if a handle off a husky 61 is interchangeable.. do you know if this accurate?
I asked Bob to be certain but they have a different set on Tank Handle combination. His comment was as follows "Different tanks. Need to match the Jonsered top handles and even the side covers to some degree."
Also the 625 is an open port, the 630 starts the "performance" oriented ones but a tank for a 630 and 670 should work or just fne enough "bones" and build a 630, they were a snappy little saw. A 670 really is a red 268
Hi Walt..as I'm watching the beginning of this I can't help but wonder have you any donner used parts for a 61. ive a 266se, I've noticed some details that make it unusual... intake is completely different shape to all the available gaskets...blue duel coil, anyway parts saws are hard to get ....
When I see that backfire through the carb I had to be ignition timing...so I prosume the duel coil flywheel triggers at an earlier position... having those parts at hand makes all the difference in that situation....great vid...btw my 266 seams to have a 162 cases ,metal tank/handle, the 6 anti vibs are then of coarse fine thread which seam to be difficult to get online.i think a plastic hutzl tank might be the way to go ...also the hutzl top cover won't line up on that front fastener so that's another bummer....yea I got a freebee that was less than complete...but it does have a tilitson carb ,and mahle cylinder only needs a 50x1.5 new ring....those old saws seam to stand up to age and abuse.
Probably but the question would be where. I was pulling the older top ends and blending the later 268 closed port or 272 top ends on those and no certain what I did with the "take offs"
@@afleetcommand I'm extremely fortunate to have a good saw builder locally. U walk into the majority of the new saw shops here with a older saw and first thing they say is can't get parts here's the new ones
I will make a run of tools in a couple of weeks if you can't find the OEM versions, I think HLSupply carries the Husqvarna shop tools. They work and are great quality....and cheap. They go for around $50 bucks where I have to charge $125 to make my version.
Owners run there saws so dirty I see wood inside the bearings in the crankcase. What are saw owners thinking? With battery drivers don’t buy an off the wall brand.
I love working on these 200 series saws. As basic and simple as they are, there's always something new to learn as well. Thanks Walt.

I just got a 61 not to long ago. Great saw. Running a 28" bar full chisel. I would like a full wrap around handle. Do they make them?
Very Interesting 🤔
Sir love your videos. Can I put a 272xp crank and flywheel in my 266se two coil case?
They made like 4 different version flywheels for this saw. So which one are you using with the 10 mm nut crank or is it a 8 mm crank nut
I had a m10x1 but there are a couple versions, at a minimum one for single coil and one for twin coil saws. Think I covered all that in a video, might have been this one

If you swap cranks
@@afleetcommand 🤣🤣🤣. This is what I meant. I wasn't sure if there were compatibility issues or not.
Crank & clutch threads have to match and the flywheel has to match the crank & ignition
Walt, What is your opinion regarding aftermarket crank seals, do you use them? Are HYWAY seals any good? THanks!

I can be contacted walshnicky2@gmail.com
Bailey's has the same part number for a crank and bearings for all them saws
Yup, even the Husqvarna corporate site doesn't articulate this properly, disappointments waiting to happen is all. Why I did the video.

These cranks same as a 262xp? Im trying find one
nope
I picked up a 269xp, where does that fit in at? I’ve never heard you or any other techs mention them.
Never saw one. 268 is the same chassis maybe or 359 off the completely different 357 chassis. But never a 269.
268 special?
Where did you get your flywheel puller and how do you get your clutches off ?
ebay
Is there a place where I can buy the 10mm puller? I have both an older 268 and a 670 that I need it for.

@@afleetcommand All I can find is the tools with the M8 both left and right hand for the later saws. No M10.
K I will make a 10mm puller for those
Are you on opeforum? If so send a message
