Nice intelligent interview. The interviewer seeking to extract information. None of those Emilie Maitliss 'gotchya' moments.
    Excellent quality aswell.
    Thank you for uploading.

He was the best political interviewer I've ever seen, and a wonderfully erudite man

A careful, considered question to a politician who is given ample time to give a concise answer, a far cry from current times, when the interviewer asks a question and does not stay for an answer before savaging the hapless victim with the next foolish interrogation. Those were the days.

The long form interview has the big advantage of allowing things to develope ..whereas the modern form allows the editor and interviewee too much control over the end result and therefore the Impression the viewer is may have

I liked Sir Keith best when he narrated Noggin the Nog and The Clangers (obscure Oliver Postgate soundalike joke ☺)

Pity there aren't more episodes of W/W we would see clearly how the politicians in both parties; Their policies where at best dim or outright anti British.

13 April 1986 with the mention of the Tripoli airstrikes on the ITN News at the start

A great program with the great political interviewer Brian Walden. GCSEs unfortunately are responsible for a lot of the problems we now have in education.

Some of us are old enough to have done O levels/CSEs and remember when lots of 16 year olds left school with no qualifications.

@@ttrjw More still did even with GCSEs even after 'Education, education, Education,' no child left behind New Labour drivel.

Always remember watching this as a very young kid in the 80s. I think it is what made me interested in politics when I was younger though I loathe it these days.

No disrespect to Walden and co here as I was very young, but as I child, this program and these sorts of programs were symbols of sheer boredom for me. If i found myself watching it for even 5 seconds, I knew I didn't have enough things to play with haha

@55:32 - Barry Norman doing an advert for mortgages. LOL. I think that must have been before the BBC didn't allow their employees to do that sort of thing.

This is a joy to see. I remember very well watching this at the time.
Brian Walden got me interested in politics, clear, concise explanations and formidable questions.
I remember he used to ask questions that the politician simply couldn't answer if he/she valued their careers :) And wouldn't let go

Proper Sunday afternoon tv. I used to hate around this time as it meant time to go home after spending weekend with grandparents. This was Brian Waldens last series

In those days it was Farming outlook before Weekend World, and then University Challenge after Weekend World. Later on on a Sunday it was Bullseye, Highway and the South Bank Show

Sir Keith was totally barking. Mad as the proverbial.
