      Yi Xiaomeng what's a the "djent"?

    • @metamorphosis3555
      @metamorphosis3555 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a metaphor and onomatopoeia for the low-pitch sound, it refers to a certain riff.

    • @metamorphosis3555
      @metamorphosis3555 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost every modern progressive metal band is now known as djent, because of it's writing style, some of them are pretty experimental like Jason Richardson for example.

      Can't we just call this prog? Or will the metal elitists swarm?

    • @rodrigoperez244
      @rodrigoperez244 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Progressive Metal IS NOT SYNONYMOUS with Djent. There are so many newer modern Prog Metal bands that have nothing to do with Djent. Also, almost every Djent band could hardly be considered Prog Metal. When your music relies heavily in something like heavy, palm-muted, polyrhythmic riffing (which have been done to death and have already been played by thousands of bands in the last 20 years) you just can't call it Progressive Metal, because it's already overused. Prog is about pushing envelopes, not being comfortable with formulas. Although, some bands implement Djent-related shit with their Prog Metal. Like The Contortionist or Caligula's Horse.
      Jason Richardson is awesome, but haaardly experimental. He plays by the numbers. Super tight tho, probably one of the tightest guitarist right now, but his compositions are fairly standard in terms of modern Metal. I mean, most of his stuff is either Metalcore or Djent. Again, super tight, fast and technical but not pushing any single boundary.
      Owane or Jakub Zytecki are way more experimental, and even then I wouldn't say their music is experimental, as they are still within the confines of pre-established notions of genres (jazz, prog, rock, metal, etc).

    I really like that the leads don't have to be these super fast, uber technical leads. Not that I don't enjoy an epic solo. But MDB leads are really their own. They have such a simple, melodic nature to them that are just so incredible.

    It's 2021, 3 years late to the party, just discovering your music. The vibes that your composition is giving the listener is absolutely surreal. Beautifully done. Off to check out the rest of the discography

    This is such a beautiful composition. I actually wrote my own lyrics to this song. And that skervesen is just gorgeous. Grown quite fond of the birds eye maple fret board. I can't figure out if that's a swan body or like a nebelung gorgeous anyway and beautiful song played on it. Perfect imo.

    Ive noticed a lot of my favorite bands and players use guitars with fanned frets. Is there an advantage over a regular fretboard? Im trying to decide if I should get them on my next guitar.

    • @astrictus7123
      @astrictus7123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Helps on the tension with extended range guitars. longer on the low end strings so they keep their tension/tone while its shorter on the high end for, i guess, normal tension.

    • @planesofrealitymusic547
      @planesofrealitymusic547 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      so the lows aren't noodles and the highs don't kill your fingers

    • @ollimoore
      @ollimoore 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the same principal as found in harps, grand pianos etc and between instruments with different ranges. A bass guitar has a longer scale length than a guitar, a violin has a shorter scale length than a cello and so on.
      It's applicable on any guitar but of most obvious benefit on an extended range instrument where it can help avoid dull overly thick bass strings without forcing you to use an ultra thin first string.

    • @ollimoore
      @ollimoore 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find them perfectly playable as well, better if anything, didn't even need an adjustment period, but now there are some more readily available fanned fret guitars like the Ibanez ones it should be possible to try one yourself
