    Sad about Stiletto... was bought by Milwaukee in the beginning of 2017. I've had my Stiletto claw since I found it at a garage sale about 40 years ago. Poor hammer has been dropped from roof level about 50 times and driven countless number of nails, (plus bashed some steel and suffered other atrocities). It is still the first tool I pick up when beginning to build something!

    It's a neat idea but, I'd wait for one with a metal handle-hopefully the whole tool machined from a single billet. After a couple of over strikes, that wood handle won't be a very good straight edge anymore. How about a review on Brooks brass hammers? They're made in the U.S.A. and, in my opinion, they're not that expensive for what you actually get. I use a 27 oz. and 3# (48oz.) Brooks along with a 2# (32oz.) Pittsburgh in my automotive shop because they don't spark when whaling on stubborn vehicle parts.

    One thing i found out a long time ago (and I'm a big Estwing fan) was they they will NOT re-handle hammers or axes. Guessing it's a liability thing. thought about doing a leather handle one time for someone i knew, but they had already buggered the end of the handle (yes, that's a technical term). Also have a Vaughn i really like which SWMBO gave me.

    I know this doesn't have anything to do with hammers but I recently lost my job due to the current pandemic and during my down time I have discovered I like working with wood. I have bought some tools so far as has my father to support me. The only tool I have bought that I am unsure about due to my inability to find any videos even from the manufacturer on it is the Delta Portable 10" jobsite table saw it is the 36-6023 model. I bought it on sale for $390. Does anyone know anything about this saw? I just would feel more comfortable if someone more experienced than I am told me that it is a good saw and a good buy. I got it on sale it retails for $470. Thank you so much for your help!

    I'll stick with my late father's hammer, solid steel handle. He found it in the woods as a kid. No clue as to its make or model, as it's been grinded down and repainted twice.
    The boss is neat but I would never pay that kind of money for neat, when it needs to be a solid work tool. Most I could see myself paying for it. 20 bucks and would have to be a impulse buy.
    Still enjoyed the video, and although the hammer is "gimmicky" I think the idea behind it is solid, just not implemented as well as it could be.

    This is a gimmick for a few reasons.
    1 a hammer handle is going to get beat up and your ruler markings will not last very well.
    2 you'll have to order a handle from them if you want the ruler markings.
    3 the handle shape is less than ideal because nobody knows how to properly manufacture a curved tool handle anymore.
    4 the handle is varnished and on the fat side, which normally can be stripped and reprofiled but in this case you'd effect the ruler markings.
    And then theres the price, why would I buy this from a new inexperienced company for $60+ when I can buy a Vaughan & Bushnell for the half the price and just use a speed square.
    Btw hammers can last a lifetime, I've got hammers from the 1880's, 1940's, and 1950's onward.
    Sure a milled face will wear out and a handle will eventually fail, but you can make a smooth face out of it and you can alw replace a hickory handle.
    I dont care about warranties for hammers because a good head won't fail under proper use, and I know how to replace a hickory haft.

    U R a real good salesman for sure but wood handles are not for day in and day out year after year and I was a Union Carpenter for awhile in the 60's and bought a 22oz. Estwing and a 16oz. True Temper Rocket at that time and still have them today and they are pretty much indestructible. I'm positive they will be used by my grand children~!! IMO no one will want to pay the price for this hammer because of the "Sticker Shock" and did I hear you say $10 shipping?? Yikes~!!

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know guys who used them but as I said, I ran an Estwing when I was a carpenter, just like the one I showed in the video. But I agree, that price is pretty high, but some people will spend that on a wood handled hammer. Have you looked at Vaughn or Stiletto? Hopefully as they scale up the price can come down.

      @davidtheurer5424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Complete gimmick. Looks like a really nice hammer but a hammer is not a square. It is impossible to get reliable square lines with the small seat on the head and the round handle. That warranty is crap, for how much they are charging, there is no reason the head shouldn't have a lifetime warranty.
