The Gothic tower in Bytów is a relic of ancient times. It is history and legend. These are beings from the ancient past rooted in the history of the first Christians of this land.
This episode touches on historical facts, which constitute a kind of prologue to the whole story. In this part I will introduce you to the old history of Western Pomerania. We will learn about the first fights for control in this territory. Powers such as Denmark, the German Empire and our Piast dynasty clashed there.
But the tower in Bytów is not only about history. The church has gone through a lot over the centuries and had two patronesses, whose origins date back to Roman times. In this fragment you will learn a little more about these legendary figures who are connected with the temple in Bytów, and today their authenticity is questioned.
Finally, I will talk about the recent history of the building, but I will omit the architecture of the monument.
