the damage increase may be nice but sledger can already do a fantastic work by itself before the buff. it relies on its freezing capabilities and is more of a crowd control guy, freezing hordes to support other towers.
sledger wasnt made for dps, in my eyes he was made to freeze crowds of enemies to help its allies, the new "freezing mechanic" really nerfed him.
The problem with old sledger is that it wasn't meant to be a staller at all, in fact sledger was what freezer failed to be

To be fair I think that was always the whole point of sledger to begin with, a melee tower that synergizes well with freezing towers rather than a stalling full sopport tower

Sledger kinda became more akin to gladiator in a sense of DPS gladiator would be the better choice for its cost-effectiveness. Sledger now has good dps but loses out on its effectiveness as a support tower.
I think overall, gladiator does it’s job better since you can just pair it with any of the other ice towers and basically have a cheaper sledger. PLUS THE OTHERS HAVE RANGE
i would say use sledger for tanky enemies and glad for everything else
who even cares about the gladiator ive seen my friends get times with other towers faster than "world records" with gladiators
I would guess they nerfed his freezing because they had a freezer and frost blaster rework on their charts. They also planned on adding cryomancer, which was another freezing tower. Sledger couldn’t keep his crown for much longer. Now, people need to get used to using towers that can also freeze and take his place as a stalling tower.
but the 2x damage was the entire reason it was good, now it's "buffed" but like DPS means nothing when most people use it as support

Im kinda sad it got this nerf. Used to be the best support tower now it’d kinda pointless. I only use it for its freeze really because it’s 6 tower limit on placement makes it not helpful at all for getting solid damage. Now it’s just a more expensive freezer with horrible range, a placement limit of 6, and high damage.

Old sledger better. They ruined it by trying to make it more focused on damage to crowds. And I see this just being a massive cash grab to sell new game passes, considering sledger was the most bought game pass tower in the game.
RIP sledger, I will always remember him as the best tower in the game.
For me sledger had a really big nerf, before it was used to freeze enemies, I remember in fallen it was crazy how it freezed the tank. Now it has more dps but its way to expensive and something like accel is much better for the price

In my opinon this rework just feels like it was made to force freezer and sledger to work together to bring out the most of the dps it can muster or having it now benefit a lot more from commander due to needing to hit a enemy twice for it to be frozen
Sledger may have higher dps but his increased cost and worse freezing effect in my opinion makes him a bit worse as a stalling tower. However his slow is still great if an enemy makes it past him and his dps makes him formidable against crowds. I think if his slow was a bit higher and he was cheaper he would be an even better option.
but the shorter stall = less use of 2x damage

@@laranitaloca6913I know that you can place multiple sledgers, however multiple high level sledgers, especially max ones will eat into your money pool. I am aware that multiple sledgers fix the stalling issue, but having high level sledgers is a costly investment which is why I don’t think that it entirely fixes his nerfed stalling.
The most broken thing about old sledger for me is the fact that it can freeze enemies consistently for only 2.6k at lvl 3. You can have so much stalling power for the early waves that it feels like cheating.
Now they just completely ruined that and made him a late game dps melee tower... great
I liked the old sledger a lot better where it was so cheap to get level 3 sledger and stun abuse the first boss on wave 10

It really feels like Sledger got nerfed for me, his swing rate absolutely TANKED in the update
If it was able to see hiddens, I think it could have compensated the down grade A LOT because if it did, then it would be a power crisis
i dont think ive heard someone say "if you want stalling, i'd probably choose other towers like freezer," in such a long time.
I think the devs are trying to make sledger as a dps tower not a support tower cuz there already are some support towers that can freeze enemies like freezer, frost blaster, cryomancer and jester (i think) but hey you could use a combo with those five towers

The problem rn with event towers is jester, just as simple, sledger was its only rival with that massive crowd controlling but now there is no point in using him over jester 🤷 also cryomancer is really bad for the same reason, so, theres only 2 options, or they nerf the jester or they buff all the other freezing towers

i think it is much worse because of the freeze now in my opinion it gets outclassed for stalling by frost blaster, and cryomancer, i honestly do think that it is good if you want dps but it still has very bad range and has much worse firerate compared to warden or gladiator
I think its nice its more dps than stalling now so that freezer gets a chance to shine and be good at freezing when frost, sledge and cryommancer are gone
Not a good thing, an intermediate tower that cost 1500 should not be better than an event tower.

Frost blaster and sledger combined make it a lot better because of the huge freeze time from frost blaster and the 2x damage from sledger better but I didn’t have sledger when it was better because I just got it when the event realesed, so I don’t have 100% all around experience but I still think it’s very good and like it because sure gladiator can be combined with another freeze tower for a similar effect sledger is one tower in stead of glad plus another tower so it’s also more space efficient and if you stack sledgers in one spot the 2x damage gets very good. Also glad can only hit 3 enemies while sledger can hit up to 5. And I do think they should make sledger more cheap because with its cost you could get close to getting a accel almost max.
I did solo molten with frost blaster and sledger, it didn't even help, the only reason i won that match was bc i brought mortar with me
If people are just gonna complain about the tower it self not being good anymore than they sure weren’t gonna be expecting freeze to have a nerf cause sledgers would just freeze lock anything and everything but this update is here to nerf the freeze (more importantly) to show love to the other freeze towers and I wouldn’t mind using other towers

I would say the this new sledger rework is a nerf in supporting, bc it now requires 2 bonk to freeze an enemy, but still its a solid support tower
the main reason why I use sledgers is because of their ability to freeze enemies, but now even the ability has gone. So sledgers are even worse now.
I feel like below is just making every tower more expensive just so they can have an increase in dps.
You basically are required to stack them now, most people already did this but its still detrimental to the freezing capabilities and lets not get started on the damage change.
Wave 30 was super easy with sledger and it was cheap so 2 level 3 sledgers and your currently placed towers could deal with wave 30
it should have gotten hidden detection if it was gonna become so expensive and worse at its main job

To be fair, he didnt talk about having multiple sledgers, which would cost more, but make him deal x2 dmg due to freezing easier
I'd say Sledger is still an S Tier tower because you should have 6 of them anyways, so with that in mind yes it may cost more, but the DPS increase is definitely a worth tradeoff, since with 6 you will have consistent freeze, and if you dont like that you can always run Freezer or Cryomancer (or FB if you have it) with Sledger which makes Sledger all the more powerful and gives the aforementioned a purpose other than stalling
I’m hearing people whining about sledgers freezing being nerfed, like it’s supposed to be the best freezing tower, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s supposed to be a dps/support tower, not just support.
Now the new tower is the go to freezing tower. And frost blaster.
This tower's value only increases when you place more than two of it which allows them to deal significantly more damage (3x)

While the sledger was an amazing staller I feel like this is what the sledger was always meant to be, a high dps melee that sacrifices freezing time for insane damage making a good synergy with freezing towers
and now the staller crown goes to cyromancer and frost blaster

sledger could pair well with commander since commander will give it firerate buffs making it freeze more and get way more dps with the 2X freeze damage thing

its very good at late game to freeze slow bosses sledger combine with high DPS tower will be good it cant see hiddens i very disappointed but its still a very good tower

For me the sledger rework is an L tho,cuz its a support tower not a damage-type tower like accel or ranger and increasing its dps doesnt really matter much as we use sledger to support towers and being barely able to freeze enemies,its not even a good support anymore like cyroblaster is better than it at this point
sledger wasn't made to deal dps, it had short range and bad dps but it could freeze bosses for a while. Honestly if they made the second hit freeze for longer or sledger freezes each hit it'd be better
below really just decided to make a mostly support tower, a dps tower even though his main ability is freezing, a support ability
edit: also to those who are like pair it with a second freezing tower, thats just eating up a extra tower slots which could be used for a better tower

Tbf you mistly gonna be using multiple sledgers so they can work together with their freeze and the increase dps works way better,imo its better just different

but, the update is a little bit dissapointing. most of the enemy is from 2022,2021 event enemy, not to mention the map is almost the same from 2021 frost invasion event. freezer, frost blaster and sledger rework isn't that bad. but cyromancer? this is basically Tdx tower named Cyro, works almost the same. I'm sorry but i don't feel like Tds is giving us an original update. the event is not that boring. I just feel like Tds is not how it used to be.

UGHHHH I HATE NEW SLEDGER!! I absolutely LOVED and adored the old sledger. Sledger was my favorite tower I loved him so much I didn't care about the dps I just LOVED the freezing it was so good. It was so cool having it paired with toxic gunner as well because they both look really similar. Sledger and toxic gunner were both my most favorite towers but now that sledger can't freeze for a long time and doesn't freeze on hit makes me so saddd 😭😭 I soo hate this update I WANT OLD SLEDGER BACKKK
Yo it’s no weird now to have FOUR ice related towers, and if you want to stretch it, jesters freeze bomb, it’s a lot of freeze.
Id say since max 6 towers its better to make him stronger BUT since he sucks at freezing by himself id say its propably worse
448 dps is crazy, but its only when the enemy it hits is completely frozen so yes, still want my restart button tho
Sledger seems like it’s gonna be warden swappable depending on if the thing giving you the most trouble has anti stun or anti freeze
The thing is, warden can't hit multiple enemies at once so
corso you should record some unreworked towers so you actually have some footage of them

Imo it got a buff bc curently it is the melee tower with the most pierve and highest multi target dps and almost highest multi target ce and it was a high aingle target dps too but it's expensive tho and low placement limit
While before the buff it had by far the lowerst dps and close to lowest max dps but it was much cheaper and it had a low single target ce but the highest(i think) multi target ce
But considering it's low placement limit i can say that the price increase isnt that bad so it's a buff
but it was meant for freezing as a support tower not for dps
it had 2s or 3s freezing which was HUGE

We don't really need 5 decent/good freezing towers (Cyromancer, Frost Blaster, Sledger, Jester, Freezer) at once, so I think lowering its stalling was a good idea to make it more unique.
I like the idea of a tower that sacrifices a buff to get more damage and I feel the actual sledger is the perfection of that idea
No, it wasn't needed AT All! He used to have an identity as a very useful, cheap staller... Now what does he do? He has mediocre stalling and damage for how fckin EXPENSIVE he is.
There is not a single place and/or time you would use Sledger instead of the other freezing towers - You are better off placing literally anything other than Sledger.
Sledger has now become a failed tower.

You place 6 at one bend ant everything tank and under that can be frozen is effectively gone. Pre nerf it was practically a wall to anything other than fallen guardians, fallen king, and necromancer boss. Besides, we don’t need another tower completely focused on freezing considering there are 3 other solid options.

I think original version was better off since it was one of my key load outs for hardcore. The cheapness and ability to stall and the 2x dmg really helped. I can’t really get any use out of the 2x or stall because it thaws too quickly.
I always saw sledger as a support since 2x dmg is really important but now he kinda sucks

sledger now paired with cryoblaster is very broken and could possibly solo molten with some extra dps towers
I think presentation would work better when comparing similar costs than same level because cost is what dictates the time it takes to place and develop. For example, the old level 2 sledger has a cost similar to the new level 1 sledger so you should compare those two instead.

I think when you match price variables it gives a much better picture of how much of an improvement or setback there is with a unit rework.
I'm sure we all want sledger just for the freezing and coolness (no pun intended)
Ppl only used sledger because he is kind of the only unit that is capable of stun abusing. No other tower can match up sledger's insane stalling potential.But now.He is more of a jack of all trades.Master of none type of tower
His dps is nice although he is very expensive and his short range makes it quite difficult for him to use effectively.Although his slow can negate that.
His early game is still pretty trash. As his slow firerate and short range means that he will leak a lot of enemies early on.And many other early game towers are just better.
His stalling is much worse as it will take 2 hits just to freeze the enemies.Meaning that you need to get another sledger just for him to stall as his old counterpart.
Which again costs a lot of money.

sledger never had a dps problem, the 2 second freeze plus double damage made each do almost 200 damage per hit. this wasn’t a rework, this was just a nerf
if u guy have 600 and want to spend it on an event tower thats on sale buy frost the frezzing plus pierceing is way to op not to mention damage with cwrouds

Imo this was a nerf. I use sledger only as a support. The freeze time was good. Being able to freeze enemies for accel or other towers to clean them up was nice. Also it's rlly expensive. I liked how cheap the old sledger was.
It used to solo tank, now it solos tank but more "it would need another freezing tower" 3 sledgers is still the meta

Sledger got hit very hard in term of stalling power but well deserved because it was way too overpowered back then being to stun lock for 3k is just too strong
Yeah it's now pretty bad in comparison, because it was not purposed as a main DPS tower, but a support tower, and it dealt a pretty high damage before, more than enough, and ofc it was able to freeze with just one hit. The most important thing were the prince, he was actually powerfull for it's prince, now his prince it's just absurd and it's worse in terms of freezing, so for me it was an S+ tier, and now is a B+.

Upgrading sledger damage is like upgrading commander pistol damage , its a upgrade but thats not the use of it sledger didnt needed more damage he was a support to stop strong enemie to let time for other tower to kill but now it cant unless you spam it to stop things like tank and other things
