They are saying Katie’s season will air while paradise films then paradise will air and Michelle will film while paradise airs. The whole reason is Michelle didn’t want to leave her students again so she will film while they are on summer break.

No I truly believed that they picked Katie first but due to the controversy they had to pick a black person as bachelor or bachelorette. Michelle was an afterthought pick. Sad to say.

When Matt compared Michelle to Rachael he said, "Michelle is sweet, intelligent, caring, and would make a great wife....Rachael, well....uh....I'm attracted to her" I thought uh oh, he's getting rid of Michelle.
I am sure that her parents are sad for Matt and his family, but thrilled that he didn’t choose her . Too much baggage there that will take years of therapy to work out 😢. I am thrilled bc she has been my pick for the next Batchelorette.
I have to wonder if subconsciously he was attracted to a white woman b/c his mom is white. Because Michelle was the whole package & even his one on one date w Rachel was shallow- shopping, materialistic, buying her stuff - vs deep conversation including social issues w Michelle...
Matt picked Rachael as soon as she exited the limo and didn't look back. I'm convinced his final two would have been Sarah and Rachael.

The fact that Neil Lane gave Matt better advice than Chris ever did this whole episode..
The most annoying part is, Emmanuelle came out and said that they had footage of Rachael and Michelle having a sit down with each other & discussing everything, and it was a very productive conversation. But production decided to cut it, and instead gave us 5 minutes of awkward silence between Matt and Rachael.... make it make sense.
Way too much editing. A two hour AFRshow was needed, and where was Bri? Also would have appreciated a longer conversation with the Two new bachelorettes.
Yes, and Bri's convo with Emmanuel was edited out also. We could've used some of Bri's sunshine to balance that hour out some.
They filmed for 6 hours and gave us this.

Who else is over the franchise? My interest dropped after Peter's season and I dont see it getting better again. The drama, all the cuts, the ticket to IG fame. It's turned into a game show instead of a romantic one. Over it but I do love to watch you two recap.
I think that l am just going to watch the Batchelorette from now on .

Katie's Season (normal Bachelorette airing)
Bachelor in Paradise (also normal)
Michelle's Season (airing in the fall)
Then they will do the Bachelor at the beginning of 2022.

I'm so glad it's over. This season was horrendous.
Although I absolutely agree and so much can be said about Matt. I will say that I’m proud of Matt for how he’s handled himself especially with the very serious situation of addressing the girls. However, even though he has never had anything to do with the show, I think he did better than given the situation.
@@LinhHueTran I respect your opinion but I'd have to disagree. It was clear he wasn't ready to be pursuing a serious relationship at all yet alone on national television. His lack of self-awareness really prevented him from being present in the process. I also didn't appreciate how he had such a personal conversation with his father on TV when it should have taken place in therapy. I hope he gets help because it's clear he is still in a lot of pain over his father and needs to sort that out before bringing another person into his life. It was a relief when this season ended because now I don't feel like I have to watch someone's attempt at catharsis. And don't get me started on the drama with the women 🙄

The finale was really slow...could've been an hour long haha. I am glad this season is done. I am so excited about Katie AND Michelle as the Bachelorettes! ❤🌹 From what I heard, Michelle was asked but said she didn't want to film during the school year which is why her season is in the fall. It's sweet how much she cares about her job and her students! ❤
I don’t think Matt and Rachel would have made it even without her past. Matt was having doubts long before that information surfaced. He has his own inner work to do before he will be ready for a committed relationship.

The Bachelor is gonna need to require men to be over 35 to be the lead.
Then again, I've met plenty of older men who aren't any more emotionally mature than younger kids :)
But guys who are 35 and still single are probably players. It’s hard to pick a good bachelor, nice guys are often covert assholes.
Maybe an older man would be needed for a few seasons to makeover the show. The last 5 seasons have been brutal. BenH's season was the last good one (he should have picked JoJo though).

As always Bachelor nation made a mistake picking someone who wasn't ready for a committed relationship. He really needs to deal with his issues because until then he will never be able to make any relationship work.
I thought that too but maybe this process made him really evaluate himself and what he thought he was ready for, or not 🤷🏼♀️ I think he went into it wanting to.
Yes, I totally agree, with him its all about the race card.,, well,, his mom is white, so dont understand all his insecurities, Besides,, Rachael, was madly in love with him, and if she had any issues with a black man,, she would not have applied for the job. @@zoeazsss5035 that is NOT what I was saying at all!! His issues are with trust and commitment issues due to his parents relationship. Racism is a huge problem we need to deal with as a society, and you seem like you need to educate yourself more before commenting any further. Rachel's lack of awareness in the past was/is a problem, and I'm glad it has a light was spotlighted on it because it brings on the conversations that need to be had. While she might not be a racist, her actions had racist tendency. Ignorance can no longer be an excuse.

Guys, I've been a fan for several years, and I appreciate your reactions to events in Bachelor Nation. I'm disappointed, however, that nobody - not a single review I've read or watched - takes Matt's mother to task for the nonsense she put in her son's mind and destroyed any possibility for Matt to break free from his father's past. She and John both raved about the "animation" they were seeing from Matt, but that was gone once the doubt was introduced, and you could see it on Matt's face. The glow that Matt's countenance projected was a part of what's called NRE or "new relationship energy," which is a vital part of falling and being in love, for it covers a multitude of little things that could end a relationship otherwise. They took that from him with their doubts, and Matt's confidence that he was NOT like his father was destroyed in an instant. Matt's mother should be ashamed of herself, and I mean that. The doubt she interjected was her own, not Matt's, and she had NO business interfering based on her own fears, which were based not in Matt's experience but in her own. That is the tragedy of this season, and I feel bad for everybody, especially Rachael. Her past had nothing to do with Matt's decision, no matter what he says. It was his mother than truly ended things for Matt James.
I feel very badly for Matt’s entire broken/ dysfunctional family . There have been memes all over Instagram comparing his mother to different Disney Villians such as Cruella .
She came off terribly, l think that she was the reason that Matt didn’t propose, but in the end it is for the best ... bc the “three musketeers “ are not ready to accept another person into their tight and very dysfunctional family.
Yes exactly! Her saying that people fall in and out of love and that it won't carry a relationship through bad times was absolutely telling of her experience with love. She was projecting it all on to him in the worst possible moment. I've heard other people say that she possibly talked bad about his dad their whole lives and never let their dad live it down which is why he has such a twisted view on relationships now. She definitely hasn't healed from what happened between them and needs lots of therapy to move on from it. Matt as well
Their relationship is toxic. Even with a "normal" family, anyone who needs to rely on the opinion of their family to choose romantic partners is still too immature to marry.
So happy someone else saw this too and so wonderfully said!!! His mother sabotaged everything 😭 Just because that was her experience it doesn't mean that will happen to Matt! She projected all her negative experiences on to him and crushed all his growth and optimism. Matt should have stuck by Rachel! Love is supposed to be for better or for worse. I'm not downplaying that there is a problem in our country with racism but she did nothing on purpose or malicious to hurt him and she went on the show specifically for him, a black man!!! This was a great chance for them to grown together and learn from past mistakes. His mother is white...you CAN'T tell me she understood everything there was to know about being a black person in our country when she first started her relationship with his father. He just totally succumbed to public and personal pressure. So sad that they will both miss out on what could have been the love great of their lives.

Honestly he was so joyous going into this season and just pummeled at the end. So sad!!!
I absolutely love Patty. However, I believe she was not ready to let go of the apron strings and did a number on Matt indirectly convincing him he is not ready. Mothers have a way of doing that consciously and unconsciously. Bottom line, Matt would never want to hurt his mother.

@@susanstricker5416 I just think she struggled when raising her boys. It can't be easy being a single parent. Yet, she should be more confident and proud she did such a tremendous job and have faith in Matt's choices and decisions. I believe the whole family (including the dad) should go for counseling about the past so they can all move forward and in a more positive direction. My heart goes out to those involved with this season.

The franchise is scared to make a wrong move now. I’d rather see them announce what they are going to do behind the scenes to promote a better experience for all future contestants than this nonsense. They still don’t get it.
I have sympathy for Matt and Rachel. It’s unfair the burden they were given to try to discuss on national TV. I wish Emmanuel had been able to ask them what they FRANCHISE’s role in this mess is. AFR would be a lot better if their contracts didn’t prevent them from speaking freely about things! Would be much better TV and maybe then the franchise would be held accountable.
Apparently Emmanuel asked Chris to be on an episode of uncomfortable conversation with a black man episode... I hope that happens.
It seemed obvious Matt knew at the end he wasn’t ready for a commitment and he used the situation with Rachel as an excuse to end it.

Yes he chose her because she is young and a pleaser and would have made few demands on him to jump into a serious relationship. Now he can just wash his hands of the whole thing and still walk away the injured party in the public eye.

He didn't have the kahonas to just be honest that he didn't really love her...he was just "aroused", so he blamed everybody and their dog for his dishonesty through the whole Show! And if you don't want to turn out like your dad...then don't! Matt's an excellent con and manipulater and he had me right up until he had the "talk" with his Dad, which should have been done in "Private"!!! Such a child!!

I’ll probably delete this later but I’m sick of people praising Matt for what he’s “gone through”. It’s not brave and it’s not interesting. He chose this woman because he loved who she was and then threw her under the bus over a stupid and insensitive thing she did 3 years ago. It’s not mature and it’s not what grown adults do. In a marriage you will fight and hurt the other person whether you mean to or not. The key is to work through your problems. “She needs to do the work, so I’m going to leave”. “I’m not going to help her, because that’s not my job”. In a marriage it absolutely is your job to help the person you love. She didn’t cheat and she didn’t lynch, kill, oppress or injure any person of color. No women in the house reported any racist behavior from Rachael. What does that say? She and every other woman black or white are better off without him.

I wholeheartedly agree. People are acting like Rachael killed somebody. Her mistakes to me are quite trivial, considering we have one Taylor Nolan on our hands. TN OPENLY expressed hatred, disdain, and disgust for MULTIPLE groups of people. Compare that to Rachael's actions....NIGHT AND DAY!!!!
I feel bad for Rachael. Not saying it's good what she did in the past, but she is clearly not a horrible, evil person a lot of people are making her out to be.
Totally agree with you all. Rachael didn’t deserve the treatment she got on after the final rose. Can’t believe those 2 older men (host and Matt) treated her in that manner. She spoke eloquently and maintained dignity. As a young woman she behaved well beyond her years. Matt on the other hand was unforgiving and disingenuous from day 1. He showed his immaturity and bad form.
Matt needs to do more work on himself. He is so focused on what his dad did that he’s becoming his dad. He’s never going to be ready until he can let go of the “broken promises” he’s so focused on.
Agree. He kept mentioning the work Rachel needs to do (and she does) but he needs to do a lot himself on himself and his ability to provide grace to others who do wrong they can't undo.

He is not becoming his dad, please don’t say that. His dad cheated on his mother and abandoned his children.. Matt made a decision for himself to remove himself from an environment and relationship that was causing him more harm than good. He has a lot of trauma and issues he needs to work through before he will ever be ready for a lifelong commitment, I agree but the dad comparison is not it in my opinion.

So agreed about the season being a sham and he wasn't ready the whole time. It's not Matt's fault - he seems like a good guy - it's that the producers cast someone who openly said he backs out when things get serious and has never been in love. He very clearly needs to work through his issues before being ready for love!

So the main reason why Michelle and Katie are the bachelorettes was that the role was originally offered to Michelle. She refused because she wanted to finish out the school year with her students. So they offered it to Katie for the normal filming time (I believe it started filming today) and Michelle will begin filming in the summer after the school year.
I couldn't watch it all until last night, and I got 2 hrs. of sleep. It was so disturbing what Matt's Mom said to him. I'm a Mom, divorced from my Son's father, but I would never make him feel bad or put doubts in his head at a time like that. I feel like poor Matt has probably borne the brunt of his mother's hurt. She's probably cried to him so many times. No wonder he's scared of committing. I'm always encouraging to my Son and uplifting.
Everyone is saying Matt needs counseling. True, but his Mom needs it more. He will never be happy as long as she is telling him that all love fades and he will probably end up like his parents, etc.
I was so disappointed because I felt like it was like Barb in Peter's season all over again. Just overall really sad for all THREE of them. I cried for an hour.

I think that Rachel has handled this whole situation well. I can't imagine having my mistakes under a national microscope like that. She's not trying to make excuses and is owning her actions. I can't comment about whether she's genuine since I don't know her heart, but just from what we're hearing, I think she's hitting the right notes. Whoever helped her/coached her on how to handle the media should have also helped Chris!
honestly im kind of annoyed about how Emmanuel Acho said the same thing Chris said and nothing happened. Weird to me but i dont know if anyone else picked up on it.

Katie’s season premieres in late May then Paradise in July and Michelle season will be in September so we’ll have the best of both worlds. No bachelor thank God. We need a bachelor break. Women make better decisions anyway so give us two bachelorette seasons 😂 Great recap as always see y’all in may

While I totally think a relationship with Rachel has too much of a tainted foundation and understand that not working, I think Matt still would not have been ready had Rachel not had concerning past. I really hate when people who aren’t ready and know they aren’t ready still go forward with the show. Anyhow, thank you for another recap journey! I truly enjoy them more than the show.

I would say the majority of people who go on the show "aren't ready" for a commitment but are just living in the fairytale of the isolated bubble of the show.

Very disappointed how Matt treated Michele as well as Rachel. if he loved her he would’ve stood by her side. He Wasn’t ready for commitment to anybody.
He alluded to a lot more happening behind the scenes by mentioning how he had to explain to her why her actions were wrong & by mentioning the people she surrounds herself with. She doesn’t quite have the facilities and knowledge to understand what an interracial relationship would take or sympathize with Matt’s life experience.. if she did, she wouldn’t have continued to be ignorant in their private conversations AND she wouldn’t have cried wolf at AFR. You can love someone and want them to be better, and still remove yourself from a situation that is harming you. You can tell he was extremely hurt by her & her continued ignorance.. he said he wants her to continue to do the work he knows she can do, but it is absolutely not his job to hold her hand through it. I’m sure if Rachael didn’t have a deeply racially insensitive past, they would still be together. She needs to re-educate herself and show that in her actions & Matt has a lot of work to do himself emotionally and mentally because that man has been put through the ringer his whole life. I just wish y’all would stop the “if he loved her” nonsense.. we aren’t talking about regular relationship issues. We are talking about racist actions that cause tremendous impact especially on Matt.

I think that Matt really wanted to find someone, but bc of all the drama and baggage, he just couldn’t do it . I wonder if his mother had not spoken her mind and had been encouraging, if he would have proposed... it wouldn’t have lasted ... but he might have proposed anyway. I am so sad for Matt and his family, but l’m glad that they went on the show ... maybe now they will get the help that they need .

OMGGG! Thanks for bringing it up that he looks like Kaepernick coz I don’t live in US and don’t follow American football, but I have heard of Colin Karpernick esp around the time he was kneeling and when he was signed on by Nike. And I kept on thinking John looks soo familiar and I thought maybe it’s because I have seen him in some music video which is can’t recall. But now I can put a finger on why he looks familiar and my mind is at peace !
I think Rachel handled this ridiculous final rose with composure and honesty.

Being black and Ethiopian and being black and African American are quite different. He said she didn't understand why he was hurt when they talked now. Someone that ignorant of her own culture and history isn't ready to to be with a black man or have black children in America. They should have had these conversations earlier. I personally am not attracted to people who lack intellectual curiosity.
I'm black and I never even knew plantation parties/ old south balls existed. I was just as ignorant as Rachael was about the whole situation. I didnt think any thing of that picture when I first saw it. People are saying its offensive, but I honestly think she was just taking a moment in time snapshot of her and her friends. There is no way she knew that that was ever going to be an issue.

Sean is the only one still with his final rose pick. We saw Arie break up with Becca and Jason break up with Melissa during ATFR, where both men expressed their feelings for the runner ups , Lauren and Molly, who are now their wives.

We are sooo behind in Finland with this whole Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, I think Arie's season is airing now on tv 🤣 So you guys (and the internet) have been my only way to watch this season because Matt's season will probably air here in 2024..... I’m disappointed in Matt. He shouldn’t have been on the show. He knew he wasn’t ready. I didn’t like how he treated Michelle, but even worse was how he treated Rachel on after the final rose. She did not do the past things out of racism, it was ignorance. She is growing and learning now. She clearly, fell in love with Matt. If he loved her he should have worked through this with her. I’m done. I won’t be watching the next seasons. I’ll continue following and watching here, that’ll cover all I need to see. I’m tired of production focusing on the crazy cast, and the drama. Plus most the people that come on the show are there for the $$ and fame they will get afterwards. In general the show isn’t what it used to be.
I think that the host was also also surprised by Matt’s reaction to the woman.

Not only did Matt have all that weight on his shoulders(social justice) but it was also his very first time on the show. He didn't get a practice run on the bachelorette before being the star of a season of the Bachelor. Has got to be super over whelming. I have so much respect for him.

Part of why I didn't watch this season was that despite the step up in location from Claire/Tayshia's season, there was no international travel and exotic locales and experiences to help them bond. I watch in part to live vicariously. The OTHER reason I didn't watch is I knew he was one of Tyler's playboy friends from Florida and I NEVER thought he was "ready" for a commitment--that was just said for the audience and the producers; he mostly was on the show for the fame and more IG followers.
The closure she wanted was where things went left for Matt. She poured her heart out to him and felt obviously misread his feelings. She must have been blindsided and wanted to find out how far back there divergence had been.
Paradise is in between their season. Airing in late summer
Rachel got a pear shape ring from Bryan 💍 Matt season was a waste.. He was never ready to propose to anyone and he had poor judgment ! Please next time cast people who are ready to propose and don’t have a past racist behavior !

For me, I could not get into the "fairytale" that they were trying to sell because of everything that we found out about Rachael. I knew that there was no way he could/would stay with her after all of that. It just all rang hollow as it was playing out.
There was never anything real between them on the show anyway. Matt couldn't come up with one reason why he liked her besides the physical attraction. And it's no surprise since she had nothing to say to him except that she adores him.
Both of you are correct! Same sentiments. The description of Rachel that Matt shared pissed me off because he only mentioned physical attraction and we all correctly assumed he was going to pick her 🙄

So glad this season is over. What a snooze. Matt was so lacking in emotion. Victoria and friends may have bullied others, which was definitely wrong, but they were the most entertaining part of the season.
We loved to hate her.
Matt was a total jerk to Rachael in the after show....almost like he forgot how to talk.....it was brutal.......no guts to try and work things out.....all about him......ur making excuses for him......so exhausted😜think about what she has gone through and she showed class and courage in the after episode
Yes he has zero empathy for her. No, she doesn't understand what it's like to be a black man in America. Why would she? She's not a black man. Since when is this a character flaw or a moral failing? Is there one man (of any race) on the planet who understands what it's like to be a woman? Women have been treated as property, raped, used and abused since the dawn of time. Imagine if all women carried this grievance with them and demanded that each and every man do all the "work" and the "labor" to fix historical wrongs, never giving any consideration at all to the experiences of men or whether their undesirable actions are borne of malice or are unintentional. How would society function with women on one side, men on the other - women claiming 100% virtue and perfect as they are and men being 100% flawed and morally reprehensible if they don't change. It is so twisted and toxic.
Green is Michelle's favorite color. That makes me like her more. At the end Michelle got the better end of the deal.
It was a disappointing season. The ladies seemed OK - It hink the focused too much on the drama. There was no focus on the romance. We did not see any real chemistry between Matt & Rachael. Saw more of a connection between Matt & Michelle.
I think they should have focused more the Matt & Rachael storyline and if they wanted us to feel more for Rachael and the relationship once this was over that should have been showcased more on the season. Don't know if they didnt want to do that because of the controversy outside of the show or what. Matt wasn't ready for an engagement. I think he was caught up in the beginning but his family snapped him right out of the fantasy - but he really wasn't ready. That's why he couldn't pick Michelle. Rachael was the fun/safe choice or so he thought.
Looking forward to Katie & Michelle's seasons though. They are serious about finding someone
