- Today we are hunting for rare and valuable commemorative coins, we are hunting through a big bag of £250, direct from the Bank!
We are hunting for new coins from the UK to add to our collection of 50p coins.
We are hoping to find all of the Beatrix Potter coins (including Jemima Puddleduck, Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Bunny), all of the Paddington Bear coins, the very rare Olympic coins, including the football 50p (offside rule) and Triathlon and Judo, perhaps one day we might even find a 'lines over the face' Aquatics! We are, of course, also looking for the rarest 50p of them all, the 2009 Kew Gardens 50p Coin.
We also collect coins from the British territories; Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, Isle of Man or even St Helena!

With so many collectors these days, it’s difficult to find anything in my change. It’s great watching these videos
its not that hard I have found every 50p coin and £2 you just need to get out there and stop paying with cards lol
As someone who loves typography, I prefer the ones that are ‘just writing’.

The Issac Newton is still definitely my favourite 50p and I've several in my collection because of that 🙂

I used to work in a betting shop, I would swap all 50p coins and 10p alphabet coins. Everyday I’d check the tills and safe and swap my money for coins. One day I found a Kew Gardens in a 50p money bag. I sold it on eBay for 130 pound 3 years ago, should of kept it.
To be honest, the price hasn’t moved that much in the 3 years. They are definitely difficult to find though!!!

Even with a £250 bag of coins, it is becoming more difficult to find the "rarer" coins with low mintage. For me, the best of this batch were the Olympic shooting and that Isaac Newton coin !! You're right, not many of these knocking about these days:

*As an amateur astronomer myself, the Isaac Newton 50p is the most gorgeous designed UK coin.*
I’m sure all the designers get a brief of what needs to be included on the design of a coin so if a visual representation of the coin doesn’t shout out the message their trying to convey then the coin with only text gets chosen.
I think ‘75 Years of the National Health Service’ around the outside and ‘I❤NHS’ in the centre would of been a better option.

Good answer to my question, thanks. I agree, except maybe your a tad hard on Dictionary. It's literally commemorating a book that's a list of words and I feel it's quite a clever design. Newton is awesome. It's so scarce because most collectors love it and keep it. That would explain that there's no market for it either- because everyone has one? Just a guess really, but it should be worth more imo.👍

Hi I've only just started collecting 50p I do it with my granddaughter (8) she loves it were do I get these unopened bags or is it irrelevant what I purchase ??? And my granddaughters question for you're next episode is hopefully below this 😂😂😂

I have 5 Canadian coins with Elizabeth and D.G. Regina on one side and on other side is the dates and KG mint mark and 2 leaves . 4 are copper ( brown) and 1 is shiny goldfish color and her crown is different on it

Any coins that are "polished" will be destroyed anyway. These are circulating coins that have passed through many hands, another set of hands isn't going to make much difference!

Issac Newton 50p is a top find.. here's a question for you .. I was going to ask Mr C . Collects ... but , if you found a Kew in your hunt ... but it was a 2019 anniversary re-strike ... would it count ? so you could fill the book and move on ...
No it wouldn't , that's a completely different coin with a different year. They were only issued as commemoratives in 2019 and not issued for circulation, but are still legal tender so if someone spent it and you find one its still worth about £50-£60.

The low value of the I.N. fifty pence could be the same reason for the low value of the Olympic coins, some one is keeping the price low for some reason, who and why? thats the question
Hi can you add text on how much thee coins are approx worth as of the day you do video shoot. For example, Diversity 50p sell approx for £3-4
Diversity is worth 50p. If they’re more than face value then the value will pop up.
I am now hooked - where can I find a list of minted coins? I want to collect all the 1p and work my way up tp £2. My wife already has lots of 50p and even a 1983 £1- is it realy worth £1000 or is that just hype? hers is starting to go green
£1000 for a 1983 £1? No chance, maybe some confusion with the 1983 New Pence 2p coin. The Royal Mint website is good for figures, there is also Numista.com which is a very good database. Maybe also worth a look at changechecker.org

How did you manage to get £250 in 50p's from your local bank (my bank said no you cant have even £50 in 50p's its not possible)!
You can order them through the post office if the post master is a kind one.

I think you must be confused, there are only 210,000 Kew Gardens 50p from 2009, I have only ever found two in the tens of thousands of coins I have looked through.

Best bet is to search for the coins on eBay and check the sold listings filter.
I have a £2 coin dated1607 to 2007 but both 7 are the wrong way round . What is going on?

Looking for 50p worth more than 50p?
Why not transfer 'perceived' extra value into real silver bullion coins.
I find this perceived extra value reminiscent of a beanie babies hype.
Perhaps it's a method of Ebay money laundering!
It's not perceived extra value, the market is very stable.
The beauty of 'investing' in 50ps is the ability to find some that are worth 10x/20x or even 360x Face Value. Tell me where I can find silver that is instantly worth 20x what I found it for, or 360x what I found it for.
It's nothing to do with money laundering, just because you don't understand a market, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist...
P.S. I love silver too ;)

Remember that enhanced value of 50p is only realised when you can get someone to take them off your hands.
None of them are worth anything really...there's shed loads the same on ebay ..you might be lucky to make a few pence on each one but not worth your time really
i have got loads of 2009 kew garden's i had a hunch i dont collect coins but just thought i would order £250 worth just keeping them they will only keep going up.
maybe i should get more celabratory coins when they come out and just wait see what happens.
