    I had this idea years before but but never could get it out from my head.

    I was just thinking about how to charge one's car or SUV if he/she lives in a high-rise apartment? And now I got the answer. I was also thinking about wireless charging option provided in high end Samsung smartphone. Someone thinks, some gets vision and someone around the globe works hard to turn it into reality. Hatsoff to the team... Great going really

    and the costs for the road preparation and to keep it functional?

  • @Driver6M
    @Driver6M 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would be interesting to compare the total system cost of cheaper busses with wireless charging versus more expensive electric busses with large capacity batteries. Digging up roadway may be a very expensive option in some countries. Total system cost seems to be the biggest question.

    When people enter the bus and exist the buss can also generate electricity, by replace the floor with other kind of floor that can harvest the energy from people walking on the buss

    There is a thing called trolley, it's electric and it has a charging efficiency of +95% :))
    It is also tested technology, and incredibly reliable...

    • @BojanMarkovic
      @BojanMarkovic 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      silviutz calut It also requires our cities to be covered with potentially dangerous and actually super-ugly wire meshes that are constantly on-line (which nullifies this 95% charging efficiency with L/C losses)

    • @silviuvirgil12
      @silviuvirgil12 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Potential dangerous: name one accident
      Ugly: like the wires for the trams? (which also need their own tracks)
      Not efficient: think again, of course being on-line does not nullify the advantage, wire losses are nowhere near the losses of charging and then discharging a battery. Plus, they can operate for many decades without having to replace batteries, which are not the most eco-friendly item.

    • @joebloggs478
      @joebloggs478 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      silviutz calut i love trolley buses but i can name a number of accidents that occurred in russia and sydney australia from the overhead wires being ripped off the poles and electrocuting people.

    • @silviuvirgil12
      @silviuvirgil12 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And I could probably name accidents in mines where the minerals for batteries are extracted, but that is not the point... trolleys are basicaly just as safe as other alternatives. And because they are eco and also AFFORDABLE (not like battery powered buses) they could save a lot of lifes by having a cleanear air in cities around the world (not only in rich countries)

      Hey how about this? Let's stop all technological progress since no new technology will ever have the advantages of "tested tecgnology" and have a proven track of "incredibly reliable"

    There is a bus available which runs over a 100 miles on one charge and it charges in about half an hour. Jay Leno shows this bus on his channel. The technology is there, but its still expensive. Oil industry still slowing down the progress of green car market competitiveness.

    could this technolgy work with rail street cars too? Dallas Texas is installing a new modern hybrid street car system that charges it's battery with an ac wire. the the power was transferred through the system seen in this video. the street car would not need to recharge with an ac photograph. meaning the street car could have more access to the city.

    This technology will only be as green as the power plant that makes the electricity and the toxins or hazards it may have on creation and disposal.
    Still a nice idea.

    This makes the electric car feasible on Highways.
    If the power line is being built under the road - rails may as well be installed and have full and proper overhead-wire-less tram. The ride on trams is far superior and they carry more passengers.

    Back in 1956 a local bus in Bern, Switzerland was powered by stored energy in a flywheel with an electric motor/generator. At some of the bus stops a pantograph connected to a tap off point and the flywheel were spinned up in speed. The range without spinning up was 3-5 km. At that time no brake recovery was used. Think of this concept, with the new wireless system, supecapacitors instead of or combined with flywheel, batteries and air/hydrogene fuel cells . With wind/sun/water energy a pollution free system could be made. Cooking ranges using inductive transfer of energy a normal daily kitchen commodity, so a wireless charging system for private cars could be developed easily

    You have to fill the whole track with copper coils, don't you?
    Like a maglev, it's cool technology, but I doubt ecological or economical benefits compared to overhead lines.
    But it may have practical advantages.

    We should also remove the need for rubber tires as they create harmful fine particules. One idea could be electro magnetic deflection to make the vehicle hover.

  • @clarification007

    The main (visual) problem is these buses must have to be on a the specific line of electrical transport. It could not passed another vehicle stopped on the electrical path. Anything could be broke under the asphalt (water, sour ... ) the only way to be repaired is to dig where the electrical line passed on!! = No busses service.

    At well known fixed routes I suppose this can be quite rational but for day to day city bussing, it's perhaps too restrictive. You can't suddenly change a route.
    And buses suck donkey balls anyway :)
    Small robot taxis have more future.

  • @interurbans
    @interurbans 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it does what is says with 85% efficiency it would be ideal for fixed bus routs. Weather inductive or other transfer technology the system only needs to be in selected areas since it is for charging the batteries only and the bus runs off batteries.
    Another ideal application would be at ports where containers would be moved by tugs with this technology. Since their travel is in a limited area where they use the same route for chaging. The tugs spend more time idling than moving so an electric vehicle is ideal,

    it sounds cool but i think it's a bad idea because your limited to only some roads i know Tesla motors still have there 30 minute charging but Tesla could do better then that with there new battery swap program that takes 90 seconds to replace the dead battery with the new fully charged battery

    • @MoneylessWorld
      @MoneylessWorld 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I was asking myself the same question. I think this can be countered by placing the traveler compartment inside a Faraday cage.
      Boarding zones could also be zones that block emf, where the vehicle would rely on battery power for that short moment.

    PRIMOVE was first. kaist, you come late in everything and you pretend the first doing what you claim. Prefer Hydrogen anyway, sorry about that.

    • @johnbenton4488
      @johnbenton4488 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DtorBillAgain Hydrogen is a non-starter for any number of reasons, but they all boil down to cost.

    • @BojanMarkovic
      @BojanMarkovic 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DtorBillAgain Hardly, PRIMOVE afaik started in 2011, KAIST deployed testing systems in 2009. Perhaps I'm wrong, but who cares anyway, both technologies are great advancements for public transportations, and there is nothing wrong with competition. OLEV advantage is less batteries (thus both greener and cheaper in OPEX), Bombardier's is more autonomy (charges only at stations, thus cheaper in CAPEX).

  • @danne6a

    This is stupid and uneffective, the ground would be really hot and the energy loss in this is around 40%!! That would mean that the electricity would just go up in air and money too for powering it. This is not éven the first, volvo cars and busses have tryed this method for a long year now but they don't find this system effective so they just kept doing hybrids and trolleys. If you would leave a goin on the ground and it comes the coin will get stuck on the bus and it will sooner or later be clogged up. This bus is so pointless i'm gona dislike it, sorry. 85% efficiency is just bullshit.

    • @jonv8205
