Some nice looking hay you're cutting. The hay is coming good up here too but we need some warm weather. Had frost warning lastnight but then it started to rain... again. We just got 2 inches of rain 5 days ago. I had a little heifer that had a calf in June, 3 years ago. Got bred as a calf. I was surprised . Hopefully she will raise it well for you. Take care my friend.
Oh wow. Our last frost is usually early May late April. It snowed 10" here on May 27, 1947. Grandpa would talk about how his corn that was up got buried under snow. Never hurt it either. Anyway that should make lots of feed when it warms up for you. I've had a heifer calve early one other time. I don't remember if she made it but I remember her not being able to get up. This time I lucked out and both seem to be doing good. Have a good weekend
Thanks Rusty. I have most of the hay down but just some baled. Heavy crop is taking a little longer to dry. New calf is fine by me. I didn't even look to see if it was a bull or heifer. I'm gonna guess heifer though.
It happens... We've had a couple 16 month olds calve before.. no fun, but.. bulls can breed at 6 months of age.. and heifers can start cycling that early too..
Amazing what happens to crops when it actually rains there. Looks like a nice suprise 👍
Stuff is off to a good start. Lucky she had him by herself

Calf and hay look great!
Thanks
I bet no one has ever told you this before, oh well you can't lose them all. Pretty good calf.
Well it's the first time today I've heard that.... Lucky
Nice 👍 still working on a tractor.. haven't gotten the new baler in yet.. and some pretty good chances of rain in the 10 day...
I haven't tuned in on your stuff for a few days Ed. What's the deal with the tractor? The baler was just some minor things I thought right?
Cab kit right?
Lookin great! We got to 80 here today, i saw some hay getting knocked down. What a nice looking calf too! a kodak moment, lol

Nice looking mama and calf at the end.
Thanks Tony
Heck of a surprise 😂. Standing water in southern Minnesota from east to west. Knee high corn down around Fairbury NE.
Lots different than the past few years.

I've had it happen before also. Last time the heifer couldn't get up for a few days. Which is why I say it was lucky.
Neat video 👍. We mowed hay last week.
Nice 👍
Very lucky for that calf. Nice to have return on investment little quicker
I've been unlucky plenty of times so I guess this evens it up a bit.
She bigger and older than my three surprises ;) The problem with selecting for fertility is that you may get it 🙃
Glad the calf wasn't a monster
👍👍👍😎☕
