If you haven’t already yet, you can set each sample to host a 128 sampler. You can lay the midi down and then assign the sample selector to a knob and get essentially infinite results! Add an arpeggiator to that and use a jittery lfo to change the arpeggiator rate and you’re well off the deep end. If you get madness you can actually select pieces of audio and set those clips to beats mode to quantized transients. And don’t forget to process audio with reversing/pitching etc for extreme variation. Or you can throw the whole thing into simpler and set the warp mode to texture and stretch it way out to find nee sample chops non destructively. This is my jam lol.
When listening to Solar Fields it sounds like some of the glitch percs are vinyl pops. I took a vinyl sample and isolated some crackled and amplified them and they came out good
I appreciate you making this so much! I've been searching for this for a while and never knew how it's made. Now I can apply it to my music! Thanks so much!
Yo this is this is this is what i ve been searching for years not just this video but this channel. 👏 👏 been listening to so much bass and especially freeform bass like wakaan. Everybody talking about how to make the bass but not the insane samples and glitches they use or whatever vst they are using to shift samples nobody even knows how to.
I use LMMS. I recently (after years) have started getting back into music production, and I found the Vital synth which led me to your channel. I am a new subscriber now, awesome, high quality content! I have already learned so much from you.
Holy shit, i've always been put off by doing glitchy percussion as I thought (short of using paid plugins) it would be more manual than this. The tricks you showed in this video really allow me to have more or less control of the variations and this video killed that hesitation i had previously towards glitch drums. Gonna apply this to a shit ton of other things. Thanks a whole lot!
Definitely cool how you do it. I end up using 3 tracks for the kick or 2 for the snare. This is a better way to do it. *Thank you!!!!!* I’ll try to practice these and add into one of my songs. Thanks again!
Playbeat (from Audiomodern) can automate much of the sequencing and panning, though after seeing the manual process, I finally understand its interface... And knowing how to create my own sounds in Vital is great also! Thankyou 🙂
I love ultimae records… martin nonstatic is one of the best! Great intro and video man I’ve been going down the rabbit hole watching all your stuff and learning a lot! Great stuff… i need lots of help with making ambient but I’m making progress!
Very, very cool tutorial! Its super informative and helpful! Makes me think about triggering the drumsampler with stochas... By the way: Did you use any normalization on your samples? Thanks again for all the knowledge - Cheers!
I recorded the vital on the audio channel, so how do I export them all individually? because I can only export a recorded audio... you didn't show how to export it to the drum rack.
How did you load the samples into a drum rack? Did you use the audio clip to slice transients to new midi clip? I can't seem to get that hi-hat sound when I make the glitch kit according to this method. I get too many events that sound like notes, and instead of rhythmic material I just get robotic noises. I've tried making the decay shorter but I still cant get them to sound like short transients.
Amazing tutorial, this really helped me get started! Quick question though. When you mentioned you made a 'glitch kit' with other found samples, were they also created with a wave table editor or where they pre-recorded sounds?
They're not random. You can be methodical with your note placement, just as you would if you were recording a sequence. Percussion and rhythmic sequencing are very similar. Hope that helps!
What plugins would you suggest to use while on Logic Pro X to make this kinda stuff? I'm trying to implement this stuff into some experimental psycho synth
Every video you have the same EQ set-up; love for the reveal. I’m so struggling to understand EQ and getting each track not to compete with each other and stand out. Any advice pls?
If you only discovered glitch music a decade ago, I should recommend artists like Prefuse73, Squarepusher, Funkstorung, Dabrye, edIT. Go back to the 90s and listen to IDM music, (not EDM) Great video btw :)
Thanks for the recommendations. In the video I was talking about a specific form of percussion - not the genre of "glitch music." I should have been more clear. There's a clear difference from the type of percussion I'm presenting here, but you are correct the roots of this type of sound are found in the music of the pioneers of IDM.
Thanks for the compliment! This was just a sketch song I whipped up for the video. As a content creator, I make a lot of these and they often never get released. I should probably dig into my archives more often...
@@s1gns0fl1fe hell yeah dude, that song was dope! Your style is very similar to bluetech but think I might like yours better. The glitch is more prevalent.
Damn, really went full beast mode in this one.
I learned from the best! 🙌

This is one of the most helpful sound design tutorials I've seen on youtube! Thanks!
Thank you so much!

this is one of the most useful tutorials on youtube for this type of music. Great video
Thank you so much!
Thanks!!! This was the missing puzzle for me, this showed me how to be random and organized at the same time, and do not lose control...
Just wanted to come back to this video to thank you. This method of creating such sound effects has been a game changer for me. You da man!
You are awesome! The video quality is high up there, the information is practical and well explained. Absolutely wonderful job. I subbed

That last track with swelling pad sounded exactly like Aes Dana. This tutorial was amazing. Thank you sir!
Glad you enjoyed it! I really went all out.

Nice - lots of cool stuff in here. Didn't know about Automaton or Microfilllz!

Aes Dana/Ultimae Vibes! Nice one bro :)
Straight up! I love anything Ultimae releases.
@@s1gns0fl1fe you make really fantastic videos mate. Big love.
So sick!!!
Yeeehawwwww 🤠 so excited for this
Same here!
same here too
Me too see you in the other side!
Amazing !!!
Amazing tutorial, this really helped me get started! Quick question though. When you mentioned you made a 'glitch kit' with other found samples, were they also created with a wave table editor or where they pre-recorded sounds?
Are you playing random notes on your midi controller when you record into session view? Or did you plan the arrangement in time?
They're not random. You can be methodical with your note placement, just as you would if you were recording a sequence. Percussion and rhythmic sequencing are very similar. Hope that helps!
Hi - Great video! What's the sequencer on display at 2:11? Looks colorful and fun.
That's the main drum sequencer page of "Triaz" from Wave Alchemy.
Magic!!!
super interesting!
Hey love Ultimae! Thanks for your tutorial. Wondering what the ableton skin you have is - looks sleeeeek!
What plugins would you suggest to use while on Logic Pro X to make this kinda stuff? I'm trying to implement this stuff into some experimental psycho synth
Check out some of the Audio Damage plugins! In particular, Replicant 2 and Automaton (which is free)
woow! Thanks !
I love you thanks
awesome tricks, thanx for sharing!!

How can you not include Autechre in that list😕
cool homie
Pow!
7:15 cool
That first track was super cool. Can I find that track anywhere?? Haven’t finished the vid but thanks for posting. Glitch is one of my favorites

ОЧЕНЬ КРУТОЙ РЕЗУЛЬТАТ,ТЫ КРАСАВЧИК

the intro is kind of too long. I want to hear how to do it, not what you were listening to 10 years ago.
very bad bro
