Quick math time: we know NOT FEWER THAN 12,000 people have set a lap time on Monza in F1 2020. Jimmy's comes in #758. That puts him in the top 7% of drivers on that game... MINIMUM. Even more elite if more than 12K set a lap time. He was invited to all those "pros drive the sims" events for reasons other than his witty banter.
The difference at the top can be massive. From 100-1000 might be a full second of time difference, but from 100-1 might be 3-4 seconds on a 2 minute lap. When you know you have the potential to find the difference, because you know that a car can only corner so hard, it’s frustrating as all manner of fuck.
@@quincybowers5338 entirely untrue. the top drivers are close to the absolute limits of the cars and are fighting for hundreths or less to gain in every corner, resulting in a difference of a tenth or two in every lap. this is why you see the same handful of people at the top of every leaderboard, as very few people have achieved the ability to reach this level of precision. and even less are able to do it over the course of a race.

Your job is a hell of a lot better than a typical 9-5 office job, and it has insane growth potential. Plus you've got a whole community behind you. Chin up, lad.
It was an AMAZING race. It was so wonderful see Gasly bring home the win. He’s been through so much and to see his emotional celebration on the podium really made me fall in love with Formula 1.
Just finished full Monza GP with 2002 Ferrari. Love going light early, having some overtake fun at middle of race and having "head down" lap by lap clear track stint until catching MSC 5 laps to go and enjoying slip-stream magic. And just 1h15 min racing. Felt so quick.
I was trying exactly this today with my ordinary wheel in F1 2019, and got 01'29" at best. It was very comforting to see someone as good as you not being able to beat that ranking 🤣 Thanks Jimmy!
Dont know if you are sarcastic or not, but lewis HAS got talent, he outpeformed alsonso on his first season, and still continues to show great driving to this day!
Man I can't stress enough how much I LOVED that pigeon racing video on beamng. One of the all time funniest things I've ever seen and it's in the intro everytime now
Thank you for telling to pause the video, I just watched the italian GP, what an incredible race, grande Carlos! Merc should start at the back of the grid and with a drive trough to make it fair
one of my first experiences with a racing game that wasn't Mario Kart was a Ferrari racing game on the Wii. I still remember T1 on Monza being really hard to get right and especially during lap 1 when it was crowded
In playing Codemaster's F1 games, first you are stunned to be in the car and you just want to soak in the experience. Then as you push on, you realize that the car isn't fun to drive and you can't push like you want to. Soon you are desperate to find a setup to help improve the handling, and at first you improve. Then soon after when you hit the ragged edge, you realize the car just wants to throw you into a barrier and you begin to hate the car. So basically, F1 2020 is a Ferrari 2020 simulator.
On f1 2019 i was around 1,9 / 1,6 sec from the top in monza, and i wasnt even top 1000. It is crazy that the faster you are and the more it is difficult just to lose a tenth or two, it just gives you a small taste on how is it like for a real f1 driver, enough to understand that you gotta be damn good to reach the peak of motorsport
I'm 43 and have been watching F1 since the 80s. I've been a big fan but modern F1 with huge cars and insane aero isn't fun to watch. Modern F1 cars are not designed to pass each other. That's it, they are designed to make the air flowing over them as clean as possible with the secondary effect of making it as dirty as possible when it comes off the car. The manufacturers don't want cars to pass each other. Every one of them believes they can come up with a car that can beat the others and so they want to make sure that it's as difficult as possible to pass. It's no different than the idiots constantly buying lottery tickets because they think they are going to win. F1 teams are the same way, they are willing to be at a disadvantage because they believe they can be the one at the front next year and nobody will be able to pass because of the horrible air flying off the back of the cars. F1 will NEVER change as long as the teams have input into rules/regulations. The governing body should make the rules in a way that makes sure the team with the smallest budget still has a chance to win regularly. The teams should be given the rules and they can decide if they want to build a car and race in the championship. As long as Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, or any others have a veto F1 can't move forward. Those teams have a responsibility to try and shape the rules in a way that gives them an advantage. F1 doesn't need Ferrari or any of the other teams. I have nearly completely quit watching F1 because it's become a joke how difficult it is to pass and the extreme regulation changes needed to allow minimal passing. This is never going to get better until F1 and the FIA tells the teams to piss off if they don't like the rules/regulations the governing body has given them. I'll watch 10 year old kids racing mini bikes if it's exciting. I don't give a fly fart about Ferrari or Mercedes and if they stay in F1 or not. Get rid of them and the racing will improve dramatically. Indycar racing is much more exciting than F1 has been over the last decade. Moto 3/2/GP is 100 times as fun to watch compared to F1 races. The result in Italy just proves that overtaking has not been helped with DRS, Energy recovery, and electrical motors. They still couldn't make passes like they should have been able to when you compare performance between the cars. Shrink the cars back down to mid/late 90s size and get rid of almost all the aero on the car. Single element wings front and rear with strictly defined surface areas with CFD and wind tunnel testing to make sure the air disturbance behind the cars is minimal and that following cars don't lose a lot of performance. I know the new regulations for 2022 are supposed to address this but I don't believe it. I think Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull helped to shape the regulations in a way that will benefit them over the smaller teams who don't have the same kind of influence. Get rid of team input into the sport immediately. Give them the rules/regulations for F1 and tell them if they don't like the rules they can pack up their cars and go take a piss. Also, good luck on your racing Jimmy
Jimmerino, having driven for almost 80h in ACC, with great setups, trying my best, pushing myself to the limit etc., I can safely say you are a damn fast driver. I can only dream with your laptimes and your pace.
Yeah, I'm grinding away at Zandvoort at the moment, in a Red Bull. Sometimes I drive like a god, then my brain goes into standby and brake too late usually at turn 12, playing in the gravel. Then I get frustrated, can't put any good lap times in for half an hour or so until my brain switches on again.
If a driver pits for fresh tires at the second Bahrain GP this year and go for the fastest lap, he's probably going to have the fastest lap in Formula 1 record for a long, long time
