- English comedian and actor Russell Brand announced he has decided to be baptised into the Christian faith in a video posted to X on Friday.
In the video, Brand expressed his fascination with the sacrament, describing it as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and leaving the past behind.
"This Sunday, I’m taking the plunge. I’m getting baptised," he said while filming himself outside.
"What’s been explained to me is, it’s an opportunity to die and be reborn. An opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in Christ’s name."
This comes months after Russell Brand faced a formal investigation for alleged sexual misconduct, for which he has denied any wrongdoing.

My 97 year old dad just received Jesus into his heart in October. He has dementia but had a clear moment and exclaimed “I’m changed!!!!” He just passed onto eternity last week.
He received the Spirit of YHWH. Not of a prophet named Jesus. The trinity is not biblical. Read Romans 1:3-4 at least 50 times until you finally get what its saying.

My daughter suffered for 20 years hearing voices in her head. Then she was baptized by full immersion. She came up out of the water only hearing 1 voice, the Holy Spirit. She has been fully recovered for 10 years now. Praise Jesus.

I wasn’t bought up with faith, but at 16 I had a tragic family incident and the same day had an open vision of Christ on the cross and astonishing peace. I didn’t know open visions were in the bible as I’d never read it and my foster parents were atheists. I never had anything remotely like that happen after, no other vision. I do believe Russell’s faith is genuine as he has been consistent in his spiritual search for years, he will suffer some persecution and some rejection from the materialistic West. But it’s an honour to be persecuted for loving Jesus. Beautiful Jesus bless Russell.

I'm getting baptized tomorrow!! I'm so excited:) I'm 47. Previously, I was baptized at 8. But I've come to realize that baptism was not a correct baptism. It wasn't a decision I made, but a tradition and my parents' choice.

I was baptized as a child at 7 years old, but I didn't get it. I was baptized again as an adult once I had lived a life of aimless, meaningless worldly pursuits and relationships with unbelievers that did not satisfy any of my spiritual hunger or feed my personal longing to know God intimately. With me, it seemed more of a process than "feeling" any kind of instantaneous difference. After deciding I wanted to live the rest of my life for Jesus Christ, I slowly came to realize I no longer had the desire to live recklessly or aimlessly, then I realized the Bible made a lot of sense to me and I wanted to go to church and be with other believers, then I started to care more for other people and I developed the ability to care about all people, and have pity for others who didn't know Jesus and were unable to understand why I wanted to follow Him. It was at this step that things really started to change for the better in my life. Since then, I have never once been worried about my future. I have hope no matter what. It was like having my feet stuck in really deep, thick, heavy muck.. not being able to move, then as I grew in my faith, the muck turned more and more liquid until it was just clear water, then steps appeared and I was able to walk right up out of the water and stand above it in dry ground. Then I was free, and I remain free. I am redeemed, liberated from the miserable existence I had without my Savior.

Traditional baptism is outdoors and by full immersion. It has taken me 60 years to appreciate that the most significant element in baptism is not the water but the coming back into the light - after naturally closing your eyes in the water, symbolising darkness. Coming back up and out into the sun-light, a symbol for God's presence, goodness, and grace. Sun-light is the most potent illustration we have of divinity and is wonderfully universal and beyond human language and breaches cultural, religious, philosophical boundaries. It was when Jesus came back up out of the water that the Voice seemed to speak from heaven (literally the sky) and a light came upon him that looked a little like a fluttering dove.

I feel extremely JOYFUL and BLESSED to have another beautiful brother in Christ, Russell. My expectations? I would THINK, as with myself, JOY and a little nervousness (as I had never been baptized before) and very excited. I guess, it's like a hypothetical "washing away of my sins", so to say, making me fresh and clean, sin free as a newborn baby. I was 9 years old, I believe, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and Savior (thereabout ) and 47 when I was baptized.

That's the thing Baptism is not a ritual, it's a REPENTANCE. It's not regret about your SELF, or remorse about your action towards OTHERS, it's REPENTANCE which is about leaving out GOD. It's deep and life changing and continual. Your repentance is like cleaning out the foyer, the journey is about continually getting the rooms of the highrise cleaned out. Baptism without deep honest repentance is just a bath. I hope he's genuine. He'll have to burn all his tarot cards for a start. That's what I did. Turfed out every idol I had. Life is peaceful and genuinely lived now.

Notice: she was a worshiper of God, the Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message, she and the members of her household were baptized, she had become a believer in the Lord (as her savior).

I am 72 and at the age of 4 I went to the alter at the front of my church and gave my life to Jesus. At 13 I was baptised. This amazing journey is full of exciting adventures and you never know where God will take you. All you have to do is follow with your eyes wide open. Part of my adventure has been 54 years with the man I prayed for as a 12 year old. God is faithful!
It’s life changing being baptized the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will feel it for sure.
