Last Sunday I had raced a group A crit. As a group c racer. I managed to get a third place 😁, and of course last. Sometimes you have to go were nobody wants to go to get on the podium.🤪
Agreed. Me cat D (180 - 350), my ZRS is ~270, 2.9 w/kg. On 11/24, Greater London Flat, TT, first place had a 4.1 w/kg and 3rd had a 3.5 w/kg. Maybe time will sort it out, but it is discouraging.
Yeah Yeah Nice Ride/Race 👍💪… More Important… I can’t believe I finally did a Group Ride ( Hotchillee), and now I know where you got your Kit from 🤔👍😂🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️🚴♀️
I was hoping things would be better after a few months when everyone would have raced after summer. But it´s actually the same as old cat´s, maybe even worse. I just moved up to the 520-690 cat. Never won 1 race...and top 10 was great result for me.
@RideWithGerben C-cat also seems crazy nowadays. I did this one on Monday and Tuesday and got totally smoked by top 40 riders doing 3.5-4.0W/kg average. Strangely enough on both days my ZRS increased. On the second day the rider who won the first day at 4.0 W/kg finished the next day behind me at 2.4 W/kg. I rode both days pretty flat out at 3.1W/kg (299W) and 3.2 W/kg (306W). My ZRS increased first day 1 point and second day 2 points to 450 points.
"Only" 13W average higher than you for the winner ;-) But yeah, ZRS also needs locking riders into a new category for a fixed amount of time when they get upgraded. Too easy to sandbag and drop back down near instantly.
Seems like the racing scores actually work based on this video. Your score is near the top and you also finished with the lead group (presumably with people with similar scores as you) in a large field. Not really sure what more you could ask for? In the old system you’d have real sandbaggers who’d just ride off the front and win solo.
I don’t think it’s sandbagging. I think it’s just hard to level up. Winning a race is only 10 points, meaning it will take 25 wins for someone to get an upgrade if he started from the bottom.
From what I understand you don’t have to win to get points as long as you beat people with similar/better racing scores as you, meaning you can still get points even if you get 15th.
Gerben I wonder what you are doing to your neck by riding so hard and looking to the left all the time. I hope you find a way to put your screen in front of your bike before too long!
The universe of Zwift racers is large so at any given point there is a high probably there is going to be a number of riders with race scores lower than their true value. Unfortunately, there will never be a perfect rating system.
I do 4.4 for races but have a ZRS of 613, because I can't sprint and only race in the 690-1000 category, so I constantly lose points. It doesn't work. If ZRS applied to real life your local criterium king would have a higher ZRS than a World Tour domestique.
If you look at Zwift power. This race in particular the racers are quite even. You had a 4.1 average and placed 15th, 8.8 seconds behind the lead. You had a higher w/kg average than 5 people that placed ahead of you. 26th, 27th and 28th place were all over 4.0 in avg. Not to be disrespectful of your abilities but you are not a sprinter. If you are rolling with the lead group with 1km to go there's a good chance you are not going to place well in that group despite having a similar w/kg average. I think a lot of the problem with Zwift racing is a complete lack of understanding on race technique by a huge majority of people.
@@RideWithGerben But should they not be? Are not the majority of world tour races won based on a sprint? If you can't win by sprinting then you need to figure out how you can win otherwise. I blame Zwift for this. Zwift pack dynamics were horrible for so long that for 7 years the almighty blob ruled all. People got used to that and thus races for the most part still play out that way. The newest pack dynamics do allow for more tactics but people are scared and just sit in. Lol, I could go on for hours. I will also throw out that people generally race too much then complain that they don't do well. with ZRS you should be bringing your A game to every single race, if you are fatigued, don't race, skip a day or two.
Ik denk dat mensen die nog niet een race hebben gedaan met zrs melden zich gewoon aan in een random categorie en dat is het zoals mijn broer heeft een ftp van 5wkg maar Zwift zegt dat die dezelfde score heeft als mij 😂

Good thing that guy was giving you so many pointers. Surely that helped you across the line 😄
LoL!! He tried 😂🤣

Congrats on another race Gerben!
Thank you!! Took a day of zwift after this one 😂
Great racing Gerben 👏
I’m planning on racing this tomorrow 😱 Hopefully not at the pace you guy’s were going 😋
This was incredibly fast. Over a minute faster than the A cat 😞
Veryyy fun ride Gerben

Nope like you said it’s worse now. Hope ZWIFT can fix it somehow 😞
I'll be having a crack at this on Saturday 462 race score.
Go for it!! 👍👍

Standaard B cat race now. Nothing to see here 😂🤣
Yamaguchi motivation
Yes a lot of it!!! 😅
@@RideWithGerben Dont know if I would listen that much with him being probably the riders who gets the most dsq of anyone on Zwift 😂😂
You should put the screen in front of you so you won't strain your neck! It must also affect your power.
It doesn’t but it’s on my to buy list 😂

True. Top 10 of every 520 to 690 race should be promoted instantly to the highest category and then locked in there for at least a month 👍

The top 20 of this B cat race not only destroyed the entire B cat field of 70+ riders but also the entire A cat field too. In speed and power.
lol 4.4 watt/kg in a B race. i guess the idea is that all these people should be upgraded back into A, eventually.
Yes. Because this isn’t right!
I don’t think it’s sandbagging. I think it’s just hard to level up. Winning a race is only 10 points, meaning it will take 25 wins for someone to get an upgrade if he started from the bottom.
Zwift needs to fix this asap bc this is not sustainable.

I'm very curious as to why you race up? You then complain about losing points, but you are racing above your class. Kudos to you for racing up.
