How come we always get the "I want petite somewhat furry, cute aitistic anime girl" oc dev and never "I want giant flaming lizard with a greatsword" oc dev
I think the full voice shows it better than I know how to explain it but personality wise she isn't supposed to be shy I think. More of a straight foward person who is very passionate about the things she likes and has little energy/interest in social stuff. So like the cloak thingy is not that much about shyness but something else (maybe seclussion until she gets ornn's trust and "opens up" or maybe just promotional 'uuuu i wonder what will she look like' but idrk)
She isn't, I don't understand why he said she's shy either. Unlike Lillia, who went for a "shy but cute" girl stereotype for sex appeal, here Aurora is more of a "nerdy cute self-confident girl"
Both do, Gwen took a bigger blow mostly bc due to her concept, genshin/generic rpg design was not in the top of preferred styles to work that concept on
They both fit, but Gwen is at least still somewhat believable for being a doll come to life, especially being the doll of a queen from a rich kingdom. If it weren't for this, her design would also be extremely immersion breaking. Its not like Gwen's design is that good, but its far better than Aurora's
I just find it baffling that, after being criticised for Sett not looking very Vastayan, and multiple times for Freijord champions not dressing like someone from the Freijord, they make a barely Vastayan champion from the Freijord who doesn't dress appropriately, with her vastayan features looking like they are just... stuck onto her outfit. She doesn't remind me of Xayah and Rakan, she reminds me of Battle Bunny Riven. Also I fully agree with you about the downfall of goonkind's reputation.
Criticized in comment sections of videos like this one? Sure, plenty of criticism. Criticism in the way that matters? That being what brings in money? Absolutely not. Sett sells skins like crazy.
The thing is tho … almost all Freljordian champs show skin and a lot of it too. Ashe? Wears a skirt with bare thighs and bear arms. Braum and tryndamere? Literally shirtless. Olaf? Thighs and Arms. Even Trundle is basically just a looncloth (I know hes a frost troll, but if we’re arguing semantics here why is she being a bunny with furr not a valid point then?). The lack of appropriate clothing for a winter region I think is the point of design for the Freljord, making it different than most other Ice/Snow Regions in other games.
@@zachtemoro2116 You fail to consider that multiple of these designs are incredibly old and outdated, specifically Tryndamere and Ashe. Look at Sejuani for comparison. You can also look at Runeterra, apart from Volibear's followers and the spiritwalkers, these people don't dress like that at all. Braum being shirtless is en explicit part of his design, his legend, what sets him apart from other people, he's like the one human for whom it makes sense. As for the Trundle/Aurora comparison and the point of her being a snow rabbit, that would work *_if she had thick fur._* The entire point of Vastayans is that they are humans enhanced by animal features. Aurora decidedly lacks the features of a rabbit that would help her against the cold, they've shown her wearing a cloak to protect herself from the weather. It's not believable for her to suddenly be frost-proof because she has a tail and ears. She still has 90% human physiology, compared to Trundle who is a fantasy being from top to bottom. I can believe Trundle doesn't get affected by the cold. I can't do the same for Aurora, especially when they show that she has clothes meant to fend it off.
@@GumshoeClassic what a cop out excuse. “They’re old designs so checkmate” is such a weird, non sensical answer bc clearly, Aurora, is following the EXACT same design philosophy as others there. Like why are you pretending that the designs of the earlier champs are exceptions to a new made up Design Choice for Freljord rather than the definition of what the designs are supposed to be like? To make the argument for you, Ashe in “Still Here” does get an updated look with more covering her … but Tryndamere doesn’t. Same with Olaf, still has a lot of skin showing in that cinematic. So clearly its not even an old aesthetic from a bygone era of league thing, its still actively a choice made for characters in that region. Removing all of that though I just don’t like the design, I just don’t see how it makes any sense to criticize it from a “Freljordian” angle when almost all their roster wears revealing clothing in a Tundra setting. To me thats what made the region different than most other Fantasy Winter regions in games
@@zachtemoro2116 Tryndamere is explicitly a man defying death at every turn, and Olaf is someone who *seeks* death. While I don't really agree, there is room to justify them not protecting themselves against the cold. But Sejuani doesn't run around like that, neither does Nunu, or the vast majority of the non-Volibear aligned Freijordians we have seen in the entire franchise. Being half-naked is not a core part of Freijord culture, and decade-old designs that Riot doesn't flip on their head due to needing to keep them recognizable as the established characters are not "the definition of what the designs are supposed to be like". And even if we were to accept that Freijord people just don't cover up (which again, is not the case for most of them, there are mountains of artwork showing it), *we have seen that Aurora does, literally the first look we ever had at her showed her wearing protective clothing.*
Nicky, the pause feature IS in live. But it's only available in customs. It's the worst grief you can run into when you get a pauser in your custom by allowing randoms in.
I stoped caring about Freljord champions not being clothed for low temprature. Exluding Demigods, and Gnar we have 7 champs not wearing right clothes for cold and only 3 who do: Nunu, Sejuani and Lissandra. At this point its just Freljord thing and I dont think Riot will ever fix, or even care about this issue.
@@evalyne1105not sure if you realise but fur needs to actaully exist across a surface to keep it warm, so having fur on your back doesnt warm exposed arms for example
@@evalyne1105ok so, why is she covering her whole torso if she doesn't need? Or you're telling me that only her thighs can produce enough heat as to not need any clothing there? Even then, that's very weak fur, you can even see her skin at places
I kinda agree with the OC bit, I think all of the champions since Hwei (excluding the Skarner rework) have felt that way. I love the visuals of the spirit realm and finally getting some freljord lore, but yeah she does feel very shoehorned in for the sake of it
I think what you mean as in personal characters. Ones whose story and concept sort of center them as themselves rather than as direct of a theme or archetype. Even with Hwei, as the depressed-ish artist, has traits that center around his theme of interpersonal stuff rather than being based on as directly of stuff like Smolder or Ornn.
To push the lilia sameness. little spirit goobers were introduced to revolve around lilia in LoR. Seeing the same little spirit goober around Aurora feels so redundant

I'm just glad i got fuel for my "vastayans can see/hear spirits more often than others" theory. Sett's only half vastayan but in LOR he can hear Alune, the only person so far who talks to her directly/by name afaik
Hilarious to me how the dev log on Aurora has them saying how they "didn't want just a human girl with bunny ears", and in one of the following images she looks exactly like one. Almost like they don't want to admit her animal parts look like an obvious afterthought given her fur is almost the same colour of her skin and the rest that sets her apart from a human with costume is visually irrelevant/downplayed
Even though I'm a rather horny guy, who loves red-haired/ginger girls in anime and animation, I still think this design does not work well. The cloak design works so much better, it ramps up her adorableness so much.
As someone who is also a horny guy and loves red-hairs/gingers and thighs, I agree. Hell, the idea of her using her ears to make a scarf is adorable. Also, you can show them thighs in her cloak, or have her decloaked when she jumps in the spirit realm or when she ults, have her go all out to defeat that powerful enemy just this once. I still like her design, don't get me wrong, because dem thighs, but I think a cloak and witch hat would've been nice (hell, maybe not making her Freljordian would've been better, I can see her being Demacian, from the outskirts of the country, maybe Morgana's disciple
@@CrabKFP Ahh. I was about to ask how she'd even manage in Demacia to begin with, nevermind be able to do the research she does in a place that's very anti-magic. In the literal sense too.
To me, Aroura feels like if the original champion idea had a skin and that skin was turned into the actual character. She has the boots, a witches hat, with these other clothes that look too high-fashion to be in the base Freljord region. I also don’t think the witch hat was a good idea not because it looks bad but it severely what skin aesthetics can be done with her. Bewitching is obviously going to happen, she would have made a good candy skin if it was not discontinued, and I guess faerie court but that’s all I can think of.
I can easily imagine her in any of these skinlines: elderwood, faerie court, coven, any asian skinline, that new frog skinline or the bees skinline could work, any winter themed skinlines., crystal rose, arcade/battle boss, monster tamer, debonaire/crime city even pool party could work by turning the hat into a similar one like caitlyns pool party skin.
Imma be honest, besides the fact that the coat design and the art concepts of Aurora were absolute bangers in comparison of what we got in game what pisses me off is the fact that Aurora is able to see into the spirit realm. AND HAS ZERO INTERACTIONS WITH SHEN XD. Like, RIOT, stop trying to exploit league for money and give it some love ffs
To be fair, many of my characters start out as "I want to make X!!" gimmick. But you are absolutely right, the character needs to grow beyond that first step idea and actually evolve alongside their role and place in the story/world. Sometimes the gimmick character does need to be let go because they just can't evolve in the end.
I don't know what's worse: that it's another (female) vastaya that looks like a regular human woman with animal ears, or that, after her teaser showed her in a mildly interesting cloak, she ended up looking like she's wearing a sexy Halloween costume. This is probably the worst character design for a new-ish champion I've seen, and that's really something in the Year of Our Lord Smolder 2024.
She's just an extremely heavily oversexualised character. Short curly hair, glasses, freckles, soft bunny ears and a tail, and even her clothing plays further into the "cute nerdy girl" concept, with her shoulders and thighs not being covered. She is factually the most oversexualised character in League, especially because her story doesn't focus on her attractiveness at all, unlike with Elise for example
@@tamas9554 I dunno, there's still LoL Janna and Nidalee. They at least have an "excuse" of being ancient, though. Aurora is not only too sexualized, she doesn't look like she belongs in the world at all. In case of Nidalee, I can at least imagine someone dressing in animal skins and living in a jungle. The only place that Aurora looks like she belongs to is a Piltovan costume party, and even then just barely.
@@ninjatoriumnova2483 Nidalee is perfeclty fine for a "wild jungle huntress" character, her outfit actually makes sense, criticising her for it would be like saying why is Tarzan shirtless :DD Janna is just severely outdated at this point, same with Syndra and many other character too. (LeBlanc) I agree though, Aurora is a modern character and she has none of those explanations of being outdated or her look actually fitting the narrative. @@tamas9554 Nidalee is wearing a fur bikini. It's another outfit that looks like a sexy cosplay. On the other hand, the armor that she's wearing on the picture for her flavor story is great.

I thought that after Ashe’s voice update they would have made themselves self aware of the lack of clothing in Freljord champs… So you’re telling me Aurora, who’s not even an iceborn or completely covered in fur is running around in shorts and exposed shoulders? AND she mocks Lewis’s outfit?
I disagree with this opinion. She is Freljordian Vastaya. It seems her race is just really adapted to cold climate of Freljord, just like Ice Trolls for example.
Aurora is FROM the Freljord, but she is not IN the Freljord. Aurora is a traveler. When she's in the Freljord, she wears her cloak for warmth and coverage. When she's elsewhere in the world (and therefore doesn't need the cloak), she wears her normal clothes, including her hat. It's not complicated.
personally i think Haestryr is the elk of bones, a demi-god of the freljord wich seems to have something to do with divination or death. the reason why he doesn't have many followers is explained by the legends of runeterra card: bone scryer wich has this description: Few scry the future as well as the shamans serving the Elk of Bones. Fewer still can stomach seeing the looming death of any who come seeking their foresight. Haestryr probably isn't him since we only know about the ellk from the bone scryer card and no other sources. but that's my theory.
I dunno what comic you read but she definitely wasn't shy. The whole reason she got Ornn's attention was that she stayed despite his grumpiness and kept asking about things.
She is, extremely obviously meant to be autistic tbh. Doesn’t like talking about things other than her interests isn’t a fan of social interactions doesn’t take hints had a unique sensory experience. Home girl has ASD
I mean, technically every champ is someone's OC. Also, like it's seconds after this video uploaded, so this could show up as a topic he discusses, but since this was a pretty hot topic on her, I personally think Aurora being openly labelled as autistic is good and important actually. Labels are important, and sure sometimes it might seem pandery and for show, but it also allows people to easily identify with the character. People may say 'good representarion shouldn't be so overt and shpuld be read between the lines' but those same people only do that so that they can ignore those things and bully the people who interpret those characters as that identity. Aurora being labelled as autistic, played by an autistic voice actress, and written to be autistic is important so that the ignorant and hateful people who would want these things to be buried and quiey can't do so with her, and so that people who relate to her because of her autism can openly do so without anyone denying them that.
My problem is that they removed the actually interesting design of her being a vlosed off individual and just said make her hot instead. Like what about that conveys the character’s personality whatsoever? Not saying autistic people can’t be hot but come on. This is lazy design.
I think you care waay too much about what other people think, who cares if some random person on the internet says a fictional character is autistic or not?

13:23 they did not look at your video about your Redsign of Cassiopia, or comments on Eveelyn. Like you love it when it fits and adds to the character, whether or not your into it yourself(or at all).
I don't really see what you mean by OC for it because I feel you could be that way about any new champion in league who wasn't teased before in lore (maybe even if they are or not). I sorta see being worried about a character being made from the thought of having a bunny mage in runeterra but I feel thats apart of just any design, like a concept and where it could or would fit in the pre-existing universe. The take with being friends with every Demi-god is felt and if she ends up being a friend to them all, I dont think I personally would enjoy that but with Ornn i think its an interesting decision that could add more depth to someone like Ornn who is kinda just the grumpy old shut in (for good reasons ofc). Honestly she will probably be like Seraphine on release and hopefully grow/show she is a character of runeterra but i think almost any new champion, not teased in lore, may come off as OC like because we never knew of them before so they seem placed in (which tbh they are but every champion is, Ksante's feels that way for me)
On the topic of sexualisation, my autistic girlfriend hates needless sexualisation. But she loves aurora. The thigh squish is something she loves, because that’s what her thighs do in stockings. She’s been straight up anorexic at times and now she gets to feel sexy in her own slightly thicker than she’d like body.
I was a bit surprised at the thin sleeves at first too, but then I realized that her jacket actually is supposed to resemble an arctic hare, with the very fluffy chest/neck and the very thin limbs. After I noticed that I ended up falling in love with her design as a whole. Looks great from the overhead summoner POV too. I do mourn the complete loss of the cloak, though.
The thing is that Aurora isnt even that bad of a champ for like "This feels like an OC" To me the only couple things that really breaks her character from being believable to me is 1. Making her sexy was a really strange concept to me. Like why are her thighs exposed, Why is she wearing a virgin killer sweater. So many people loved her cloak way more. including me. 2. "Ah yes, I am the only one of my race that can commune with spirits and everyone thought I was crazy even though spirits are extremely common in freljord." It would make more sense if Her whole race have sensitivity to spirits and the spirit world. Honestly, I really like the idea of Ornn and Aurora Autistic BFFs. Thats usually how it ends up in real life. Her just finding a dying god is a bit strange but if elaborated on could be really cool. Like in all honesty it would make more sense if with Ornn's help they could cure the demi god, Then Aurora Adventures around Freljord to save m ore wounded/ faded/ corrupted spirits with the use of her wand and Ornn's help. Thats really ALL it would take for me to go, Yeah, she belongs in League.
9:31 In defense of that, I used to work at a grocery store and I'd usually wear a skirt there, and whenever I had to do work inside the fridges, as long as I my torso and arms were decently covered, I didn't really feel much cold so I think it's plausible that a bunny girl who's lived her whole life in the cold would not be bothered by a little bit of her thighs and shoulders being exposed.
@@acatwithwiskers9273 Valid tbh hehe I probably should've clarified that it's like 30°C outside, so my point was that if I who's used to warm weather could wear a skirt in the cold and be fine, someone who's lived in extreme cold all their life would be fine exposing a little bit of their body, not to mention that it's not like she dresses like that all the time. She has her cloak :p
in the legend of runeterra card game, arhi have a follower that is just a bunny person with branch horns. also we have seen bunny looking yordles like in the pentakill video, so they could have go for a more cute / small build too
I think her story is more or less a convenient self-insert which actually contributes very little to the story. We don't get to know anything about her tribe, how do they survive in the Freljord, what is their culture like, when and why did they come here, whats their technology level, etc. Like, this is important because Aurora's clothing (especially glasses), suggests that they are quite an advanced tribe despite living in the harshest natural region of Runeterra, yet we know nothing. How did Aurora even learn to use her magic for example? Thats also unanswered, despite LoL's story being clear that you can't just teach yourself magic, it doesn't work like that. (Lux) How can she survive outside of her village's safety, out in the cold, where plant life is basically absent and the only creatures she could hunt won't give up easily? And this isn't even the self-insert part, that happens with the Ornn stuff. Like, of course she just stumbles upon a dying and mad old spirit-god, who of course doesn't end up killing her like it did many others, and of course she finds Udyr and later Ornn's residence. After all of this, of course Ornn realises she is entirely different from everyone he's ever met and welcomes her in like a father figure. But Aurora is no simple innocent character either, she is charismatic, wise and seems extremely capable in all regards, despite her supposedly having no actual way to come into possession of the knowledge she has. She feels like if someone inserted their OC into the story, hence why her meeting with Udyr and Ornn feels so convenient. She needs these for her story to work, and unlike Nami for example, she easily finds the people important for her objective. And this is not even counting what the story says about her current goal, because thats somewhat unclear as well. She kinda is like a Mary Sue, though this isn't suprising from the writer who also created Milio :D
you made the best points about her. when i read the comic and played the interactive novel in the league client i was SOOOOOOO baffled by how conveniently she barged in on Ornn's life such a Mary Sue smh, and the problem with this story design is compared to an incomplete story like Nami's is that there is no more room for more lore and new short stories for Aurora? she seems like a one-and-done character whose character arc ended the moment it began
@@chokeolatte Basically. We know that in order to heal Hestrelk, she would somehow have to make the people of the Freljord believe in him again. But thats not what her story says, because it follows as this: "Believing these demigods hold the key to Hestrelk’s recovery, Aurora has left Hearth-Home and now traverses through the material and spirit realms of her frozen homeland in unwavering pursuit of their knowledge." So, does this mean she will search for other spirit-gods too? Will she ask them questions as well? What will happen after that? I mean if Ornn couldn't do anything to help them, why would the others? Its also such a convenient way of her getting to know about all of this, like these solutions are just offered up on a silver platter. The writer of Aurora's story actually also wrote Milio. In his background, he literally became the master of the fire axiom, basically the rule which ixtaly people use to manipulate fire, because he "studied nature himself". So not only did he master a discipline others would fail to do so WITH a master training them for years, but also discovered an ENTIRELY new way of using fire. Like, this is fanfiction levels, I'm not even sorry for saying that :DD
Fun fact about the pause: It was already in game for a long time and it just works in custom games, original purpose of pause is to be used in esport games
As a female player and artist I really love her design actually, yes it does feel a bit like an artist's original character but that is what makes her so appealing, I also think her kit looks unique and I'm very excited to try her out. I don't think a champion looking like an 'OC' is a bad thing, if anything I think Aurora is doing everything right that Seraphine did wrong, this champion is actually relatable and appealing to the female player base, and she is released right after a lore event involving her that also expanded on lore with other champions already in the game.. The only thing I have to say that I'm not crazy about is what you already pointed out about the exposed skin and lack of fluffiness, but compare this to Ashe's original champion design and splash art and we still see a huge improvement, still I would've liked to have seen the cloak we saw in the lore event incorporated into Aurora's regular design.
i think watching the chat in this video while nickyboi talks about champion designs sums up everything you need to know about the deep seeded toxicity of league players.
I kinda agree with you when you say about Rakan and Xayah.I alway feel weird that a champion base on a very hyper active animal like rabbit is austistic and shy????
Im getting tired of the new releases. They dont even count to the Runeterra universe for me, I just think of them as the in game additions and thats it
To be fair. There are like 3 Freljord champions that are human, who look like they live in the freljord. Those being Lissandra, Sejuani and Nunu. The rest like, Braum,k Udyr, Trynd, Olaf, Gragas and Ashe are barely clothed. So that criticism goes for every champ there.
As a person on the autism spectrum, I very much dislike her being on the autism spectrum. It's never handled properly, and I don't feel like they handled it properly with Aurora either. It's not especially offensive like some portrayals of autism is, but it really doesn't feel like autism whatsoever. It's not an easy thing to create an autistic person, and on the other hand it is very easy. But when you state that a character is autistic I think it should have some bearing on the story, or at least her own story... Which it doesn't really. It's just something that's tacked on, and all the autistic characteristics of her character could easily be designated as simply quirks. There are so many characters in Runeterra that could be classified as autistic if you really wanted to, and Aurora is no different, yet she must be explicitly stated to be autistic, as though some Rioters gain some particular glee from it. Again, as someone on the autism spectrum, it's not fun to be autistic. It is a massive hindrance in day to day life. Forming interpersonal relations is a struggle. One is easily overwhelmed by seemingly mundane things, such as shoelaces coming undone, or the bus being late. Aint none of that. That's too hard to discuss or show, so just give me a quirky introverted (despite her outfit) bunny girl. Again, it's not directly insulting, but it is lazy. It feels like pandering. I want a character I can relate to, not one I am told to relate to. If I didn't know she was supposed to be autistic, I think I would have liked her more, but because I know it kinda ruins her to me. Like a sort of show don't tell fashion. It's hard to properly put into words, so I suppose I'll say it like this: I don't feel seen, I feel misunderstood.
One thing I genuinely love about Aurora, is that she's an autistic character who isn't stereotypical, like she has social competency! She's not emotionally stunted or child like! Also she's clearly an autistic character who isn't afraid to be pretty, it's nice to see an autistic character for once who ISN'T stereotypically ace, not that I dislike ace characters, just that I as an autistic person, almost never see, good, autistic characters who aren't ace. It just makes me a little sad that a large portion of us autistics, that y'know are straight and gay and bi and demi and pan and so on, are nearly never represented. But Aurora clearly has some sexuality as a person in their design, not sexualised, but that she wants to look good. It's a strange thing to notice, but it's one that was clear. And that she also just can speak to people, and speak her mind, while still having a hard time relating. I like that, and relate to it. Like just look at what she says to Voli, casually telling a Demigod to quit trying to get in her hand with extreme confidence, I love it!
A thing I've noticed about autistic characters. If the character is stated, in universe, to be autistic, then they're usually terrible representation. If a character is never stated to be autistic in the story (regardless of whether or not it's the intent), then they're usually great representation. There are exceptions of course, but I've noticed this a lot that they're generally a token autistic character when they're stated to be autistic in the story, because the writers just want the brownie points, while if they're not stated to be autistic in the story, then they want to let the audience figure that out for themselves, so they take more care to make them feel more real. Even if they say in dev blogs or interviews or whatever that they are autistic, they still need to push that in the story so that people who don't read those can figure it out.
The problem is that she is still kind of a Mary Sue, which makes her an extremely boring character. She has basically no real insecurities, grievances or other flaws. This is why I believe she is a self-insert from the writer. Also for Riot wanting her to be a representation for autism, that is completely and utterly unclear from reading her bio for example. I've only learned that she was meant to be this after reading it, and it was quite surprising because her story never includes or hints at it in any way. And this is not mentioning her backstory adding basically nothing to the world, while her design is also lore-breaking :/
While I understand what you mean, I feel that she's still rather stereotypic, just that instead of being the "Oblivious and unaware child autist", she's the "Hyperfixated autist", mainly from her in-game voicelines cuz they make it feel like all she cares about is Spirits and doesn nothing but talk about Spirits 24/7, there's also the "I hate social interaction" smidges of voicelines here and there that feel kinda forced imo, like they asked what was an introvert trait everyone knows and can relate to and slapped that into her character.
@@zetacomet5961 I mean some of the voice lines do feel forced, but you could say that for every champion. A lot of irelia's voice lines are just her constantly repeating something along the lines of "I miss my family" & "all noxians are rats". Some of samira's voice lines sound like a straight millenial trying a little too hard to use ballroom talk. Akali, kayn, zed, etc. all have a redundant amount of edgy lines. The forced "i hate social interaction" type of voice lines do feel like poor characterization for aurora, but it's kinda unfair to judge her for that when most champions have some kind of forced voice line to exaggerate their personality. Same could kinda be said about her hyperfixation being 90% of her personality and voice lines
@@Ren-jh3xb sure, but it’s not so much that “edgyness/exaggeration” is bad, but “how far can you push edge and exaggeration without falling in harmful stereotypes”, all characters you listed range from cool badass rouge to edgelord and their edge is an extension of their character, something you’d expect from them without putting their archetype under a bad light. Also just because a defect is shared among other characters doesn’t mean that it’s excusable, half of the freljord champs also don’t wear cold-appropriate clothing but you’re not gonna use that to excuse Aurora's clothing.
Yeah, Zeri feels like a character that would exist after a big timeskip where the fashion and enviornment is made more similar to the modern era. Aurora is cute, I have a bias for the hybrid animal Vastaya like Xayah and Rakan.
I agree but it still feels like Zeri could definitely exist in League and was designed for league. Aurora feels like she designed as a mobile game gatcha character first and then a league character second
Man it always sucks thinking about what a champ could’ve been, its really felt like we’ve been in a bit of a slump lately in terms of champ design. None of them have been downright horrible, theres things to like about each of them. But for me at least the last time a champ made me go “Woah this is so cool, its so unique, its executed amazingly” was Renata and that was almost two years ago

Cloack has to be one of earlier versions of design but then artist just got hypnotised by Wizzard's hat and you can't realisticly combine those , so cloak had to go bye bye.
The fact Aurora is canon means we'll have Freljordian bunny tribes in the MMO. I think that's neat. Also what if the bunnies have mastered winter warfare against Noxus (? idk who they are close to) like Finland against the Soviet Union. Maybe the White Death was teached by Teemo?
In terms of her design, personality, mannerisms... I think you're kinda just projecting what you think she should be like rather than really looking at who she is. You say she's shy and quiet, but I never got that from her. She has very specific interests and will talk with you about them all day if you let her. Even Ornn noted that, saying she was inquisitive but not annoying. That all being said, I think this perceived "reserved" nature you've tried to place on her and expected to reflect in her clothing.. isn't a thing. Her being cute/sexy doesn't take away from her character, if you ask me. This isn't a Kai'sa situation. As for her lack of bunny mannerisms... I mean, what did you expect? Constant, agile hopping around? She doesn't like rambunctious, loud people, why would she want to be jumping around all the time? It makes sense that she'd be walking around calmly like 99% of the time. The only time she hops is to make a quick escape into the spirit world, otherwise she's chillin.

20:36 this little tangent perfectly describes how I felt about this character. I just wish at the very least the animations helped with her character. Sure make her hot with the thighs or whatever but at least make her animations feel nerdy or shy. I don’t like that she first looked like a very different champion than what we already have and now she’s just generic sexy girl n°58 but with bunny ears … also looks a lot like Mikaela Reid from Dead by Daylight (most commercial and skin selling survivor character)
the reason Aurora is so disjointed in her design and personality is because she was made to please neckbeards. what do neckbeards want? a shy, super hot and freaky cosplayer that doesn't talk to anyone else, is all cute, and is super pure but also at the same time super sexy with them. she's all hot but doesn't derive any power from it, doesn't use that to her advantage, she's just shy and submissive. tell me, doesn't she remind you of that? she's even a redhead with thick thighs, something neckbeards OBSESS over.
The Haestryr problem's been addressed in the past from LoR's Kindred and other death gods popping out, trivializing their uniqueness as "Death, straight up" and instead fell back to the faith-powered existence for spirits we've come to know now like Janna's. Not to say it's not executed well, cause I do personally like how their personalities are portrayed, but more so there's really no need for them to exist in the first place and really watered down the lore just to "make them feel belonging to Runeterra" though more-so it's to provide wiggle-room for lore writers, that is if there's any still left. Still, the community ate up the "more death gods" statement and that brought us here to the world of twisting pre-existing constants for the sake of novelty; long gone is the era of fitting characters in Runeterra itself and no doubt Riot would do it again for future champs.
LoR had issues with this because they needed creature cards that fit with the champions, both gameplay wise and thematically. That's why they created other personnifications of death to fit with Kindred, or other anti-magic golems to fit with Galio. I feel like they should have been non canon.
3:34 is it, well since it's a small dash not realy but with the addition of the Invisability I feel it might be, as certain assasins need to target something to damage their abilities in close range, so her just doing this is pretty pushy, I'd make a change: Upon Aroura becoming invisible she will slowly turn into camoflauge the longer she stays hidden, increasing the range of it overtime. This should be where while she can access the realm she can't stay in there for as long as she wants without consequences, this makes it to where she has to make use of the actually little time she has, like a 0.5 secs to avoid being seen or the camoflauge will quickly give her away, for agression it has the enemy be rewarded for keeping track of you.
the amount of corn of her being always in heat will be tremendous, you can't put out a witch rabbit girl out and expect normal amounts of said content.
Genuine Question. What part About Aurora is shy? Her visual design isn't shy, her voicelines doesn't depict her as shy, Neither her voice. Genuinly she just feels slightly akward, and kinda nerdy?...
oh shiz i saw this chanp and was like what the hell this oc looking character did not think other people would confirm this thought within the same hour.
From what I could tell a lot of her attack lines are "personal space please" I dont think she's meant to be shy i think its the autistic trait of "i dont like being near people" Which kinda works with her abilities- her big blast knocking her away and going invisible so people cant find/be close to you. On god, i agree
Both do, Gwen took a bigger blow mostly bc due to her concept, genshin/generic rpg design was not in the top of preferred styles to work that concept on
agree apart from that genshin characters use more shades of the same colours while Aurora has lot of different colours
They both fit, but Gwen is at least still somewhat believable for being a doll come to life, especially being the doll of a queen from a rich kingdom. If it weren't for this, her design would also be extremely immersion breaking.

To be fair, many of my characters start out as "I want to make X!!" gimmick.

And they gave her the r34 proportions!
She's just an extremely heavily oversexualised character.
Short curly hair, glasses, freckles, soft bunny ears and a tail, and even her clothing plays further into the "cute nerdy girl" concept, with her shoulders and thighs not being covered.
The fact that her voice lines make it so blatantly obvious that she's autistic makes the labeling all the more necessary, in my opinion.

I have not even watched the video but the title really summed up the feeling I could not put my finger upon.
Aurora feels like a Final Fantasy 14 player payed good money to have their Viera character made into a champion.
I'm not an artist but it makes me happy that the amount of fan arts are getting back in numbers now. You guys are part of this series as much as the lore and Nicky's gameplay
Lost the cloak for her to get a genshin impact costume
The title is perfect because shes been my transition goal ever since she released she genuinely feels like my OC lmao
13:23 they did not look at your video about your Redsign of Cassiopia, or comments on Eveelyn.
Like you love it when it fits and adds to the character, whether or not your into it yourself(or at all).
Have a safe flight nicky! Enjoy Twitchcon!
I really thought her splash art was really good fanart of Rei from Paladins at first
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING!!
she's so similar to Rei, idk what's with bunny girls, glasses and magic
Aurora feels like a part of the wonderland system
okay i get that people are terrible but damn your drawing of little bunny aurora is so adorable!
Sad the jacket didn't make it to the final design. She just reads too much as an stereotipical wastern wizard (hat and wand) for my liking.
“She’s gentle and quiet, something Ornnisn’t used to seeing in Non-Ornn beings”
Counter argument, there's no wind chill in a freezer.
@@acatwithwiskers9273 Valid tbh hehe
I probably should've clarified that it's like 30°C outside, so my point was that if I who's used to warm weather could wear a skirt in the cold and be fine, someone who's lived in extreme cold all their life would be fine exposing a little bit of their body, not to mention that it's not like she dresses like that all the time. She has her cloak :p
Aurora cloak sprite vs Aurora in game is a cyberpunk 2077 level lie 😭
in the legend of runeterra card game, arhi have a follower that is just a bunny person with branch horns. also we have seen bunny looking yordles like in the pentakill video, so they could have go for a more cute / small build too
Head Canon : she forced a bunny character for the Chinese new year of the bunny, it's this year.
Well based on running animation, we can probably expect a bewitching aurora skin sometime in the next year
I think her story is more or less a convenient self-insert which actually contributes very little to the story.
(Lux)
How can she survive outside of her village's safety, out in the cold, where plant life is basically absent and the only creatures she could hunt won't give up easily?
She kinda is like a Mary Sue, though this isn't suprising from the writer who also created Milio :D
you made the best points about her. when i read the comic and played the interactive novel in the league client i was SOOOOOOO baffled by how conveniently she barged in on Ornn's life
such a Mary Sue smh, and the problem with this story design is compared to an incomplete story like Nami's is that there is no more room for more lore and new short stories for Aurora? she seems like a one-and-done character whose character arc ended the moment it began
@@chokeolatte Basically. We know that in order to heal Hestrelk, she would somehow have to make the people of the Freljord believe in him again.
But thats not what her story says, because it follows as this:
"Believing these demigods hold the key to Hestrelk’s recovery, Aurora has left Hearth-Home and now traverses through the material and spirit realms of her frozen homeland in unwavering pursuit of their knowledge."
So, does this mean she will search for other spirit-gods too?
Fun fact about the pause: It was already in game for a long time and it just works in custom games, original purpose of pause is to be used in esport games
i love making league of legends ocs. the runeterra us a great setting for that
As a female player and artist I really love her design actually, yes it does feel a bit like an artist's original character but that is what makes her so appealing, I also think her kit looks unique and I'm very excited to try her out.
I kinda wish they made her chubby, like Mei from Overwatch could’ve be perfect. She’s should’ve been a fluffy bunny.
Omfg, chubby rabbit girl sounds absolutely amazing.

I agree with the whole OC thing, but Nicky is going to get set on fire by the Aurora community.
As someone who came to like bunny girls after being a Viera in FFXIV for more than 7 years, i do feel there's something wrong with Aurora.

I still believe zeri feels more like an oc, specially after arcane. But this is a close second.
Seraphine's also kinda in that same boat, but her LoR depiction makes it worth IMO.
Man it always sucks thinking about what a champ could’ve been, its really felt like we’ve been in a bit of a slump lately in terms of champ design. Cloack has to be one of earlier versions of design but then artist just got hypnotised by Wizzard's hat and you can't realisticly combine those , so cloak had to go bye bye.
My ff14 character says otherwise
The only time she hops is to make a quick escape into the spirit world, otherwise she's chillin.
this is 1000000% another kai’sa situation and mega detracts from her character

12:52 when it was about funny little underling of villian, instead of human lossing control of it's monster.
the reason Aurora is so disjointed in her design and personality is because she was made to please neckbeards.
what do neckbeards want? a shy, super hot and freaky cosplayer that doesn't talk to anyone else, is all cute, and is super pure but also at the same time super sexy with them. she's all hot but doesn't derive any power from it, doesn't use that to her advantage, she's just shy and submissive.
tell me, doesn't she remind you of that? she's even a redhead with thick thighs, something neckbeards OBSESS over.
How do you know that she is shy and submissive? This sounds like head canon.
I really love the idea of a bunny with glasses and holding a magic wand in her mouth

3:34 is it, well since it's a small dash not realy but with the addition of the Invisability I feel it might be, as certain assasins need to target something to damage their abilities in close range, so her just doing this is pretty pushy, I'd make a change:
Upon Aroura becoming invisible she will slowly turn into camoflauge the longer she stays hidden, increasing the range of it overtime.
There were already vastayas mentioned in the freljord before from Sejuani's story
