    It's true, there's nothing quite as funny as seeing a runner duck pause, drop an egg, and just keep on running like nothing ever happened 😂

    Thanks for this informative video. Someone dropped off 3 domesticated ducks in a pond in my subdivision last September. I didn't know what kind of ducks they were until the last couple of days; one Pekin, one female Buff Orpington, and one Indian Runner. The black one which I now know is an Indian Runner worried me because he was very skinny. Every time I walked past them they would come up to me like they expected food so I called a friend who owns ducks as pets. I was further alarmed when she said she didn't think they would make it through the winter if someone didn't feed them so I started feeding them every day. It's been 8 months now and the Indian Runner is all grown up and so cute! I feel sorry for them because none of them have mates. The three are inseparable but the male Pekin claims dominance over the male Indian Runner. Would you recommend getting another Indian Runner for him?

    I love runners. I want to get some for myself as they are great layers, but I can only have a maximum of six in the city (Seattle). Maybe some day... Thanks!

    This is a very informative video. It might be better though to show only runner ducks as opposed to a mixed flock so that beginners can more easily see the differences between runners and regular ducks.

      I agreed at first and then realized.... it's pretty clear which ones are upright and running and which ones struggle with a waddle.... :)

    I've raised both runners and traditional breeds like Khaki Campbells. From experience, they are excellent layers. I did have one chocolate runner that was notorious for laying her eggs in the water pool, and we would have to fish them out every day. Other than that, she was a reliable layer! I've shared this video in a post that I recently published that covers duck breeds: farminence.com/duck-breeds

    Is it safe to have them around a goldfish pond? Do they keep blue herons away?

    do ducks have a certain time of day they lay? I want to allow mine to forage but I would rather not have to search for eggs every day.

      keep then in a little space until 8 in the morning before unleashing them, you should get almost all the eggs at first and after a little while all the eggs

    I ran out of chicken eggs and fried a duck egg for my husband. OH MY!! My husband became violently ill, had to come home from work...had it coming from both ends. He is allergic to duck eggs! Come to find out many people can't handle the protein in duck eggs! :/

    Does anyone know what type of duck is the khaki one flapping its wings in the right front at 1:18? I have this exact duck is it also an Indian runner or something else? Thanks

      Actually it’s a horn billed Billings duck. Very rare you could get some good money for it if you sold it’s liver on the black market

    • @WobblesandBean
      @WobblesandBean 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrFlynnski871 Why would you want to do that?? If it's a rare duck, and a pet duck at that, than that's a terrible thing to suggest. At any rate, "hornbilled Billings duck" isn't a thing, so unless you're trolling I have no clue what on Earth you're talking about.
