Don't worry about it. If a story is well written and you find you like it. It shouldn't matter too much if it's "woke" or not. One Piece is great and hopefully the live action will encourage more people to read the actual series.
I can agree with that. A lot of people do worry about wokeness however, and so I make these videos as hopefully a guide for those who are interested. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and I hope you found it interesting!
there is no such thing as a well written woke story. This bullshit live action is a poorly written hollywood cliche and the only people that like it are the netflix pr firms swamping the internet to write bogus positive reviews and complete imbeciles that could be entertained watching paint dry.
Yeah cause stories that are woke are not telling a good story they don't have characters with good character arcs cause they are to busy pushing identity politics on u and preaching at u trying to make you feel bad for what sex u are or race or sexuality you are there is no story that is woke that is good
even that 1 for toxic masculinity is not true - all the male rep is exactly the same as how Oda the creator wanted. You also forget that for female there's also Alvida who is like the worst of them all - incompetent, stupid, and extremely violent. There's zero agenda for Oda. He was just a manga creator who wanted to create a super interesting story.
That's fair enough. I mean I only gave it a 1/10, so was only a tiny little thing I had an issue with. But otherwise I definitely don't consider this series woke, or even Nami's character.
it’s always ironic seeing all the Anti-Woke youtubers talk about One Piece and praise it for being not woke. do they not realise this show as a whole is literally the most left leaning story in anime? i love One Piece and its themes, but people like you are really misunderstanding and twisting the narrative. fair enough, the major anti government and establishment themes, and LGBTQ (gay, trans, pan, drag queen) characters aren’t there yet, but when they are introduced and the story becomes about taking down and destroying the world government (and the equivalent of the president), don’t be complaining saying “Netflix turned One Piece woke! The Woke Mind Virus Strikes Another Japanese Property!” Oda is openly liberal and honestly quite far left leaning. obviously people like you and the anti woke crowd don’t actually understand “woke” issues or progressive themes. you all just see shit like race swapping, strong women and feminism and complain about a woke mind virus. since one of the anti woke crowd’s biggest issues with “woke” stuff is strong women beating men casually and joking about it, then if that’s you, you will genuinely hate One Piece. that’s like Boa’s, Pudding’s, somewhat Nami, Robin’s and others entire style of fighting.
First of all, I never said anything about One Piece being Anti-Woke. If you want to see me talk about an "Anti-Woke" film, watch my Sound of Freedom video. Therefore I can only judge what i've seen in this show, which I deemed as Not Woke. If when the next season comes out and it has the things that you say it will, then I'll judge it accordingly. But as I've said many times, it's not about WHAT they put in a show that makes it woke. It's about HOW they utilise it to promote an agenda that exists outside of the show.
@@kiksta well One Piece’s agenda in the manga and anime is pushing pro liberal, anti government and pro LGBTQ themes. Oda is inspired by his open disdain towards the conservative japanese government, Luffy is literally referred to as the “Warrior of Liberation” and goes to many oppressed countries and frees them simply because he felt like it. and during all this, there are many powerful, prevalent, and positively represented LGBTQ characters. luffy frees a country of slaves who’s population was brainwashed; he liberated a country overcome with fear due to systemic and personal racism from the world government’s fear mongering propaganda in the world; he takes down a whole navy base and a navy prison because he wanted to save his brother, taking down marines in the process. idk how much more anti right, pro liberal and freedom than that. and i never said you said One Piece was Anti Woke. Again, I'm only judging the live-action in this video, as i obviously no nothing about the source material.
Based on what you've explained, I can see how you consider the live-action to be woke. Perhaps I would feel differently too if I had read the Manga.
That said, I don't consider it woke by today's standards, particularly when you compare it to what Netflix does with almost all their other series. In that regard, it was a breath of fresh air.
Dude most characters in jap anime are Japanese you know that right 😂😂 they race swapped because most Americans would not watch it if they thought it was some Japanese show
I'll give u the bad guys all being white I did not notice that
the anime is mostly Japanese characters so it makes sense in the American live action they would not all be Japanese I did not notice the other stuff cause it's the first live action anime that I was actually enjoying
@@ChrisPierce-y1r that's wrong. i'd be more enthusiastic about the live action if all the actors were japanese and the directors, producers and everyone else associated with it. Then it probably wouldn't be such a giant piece of shit.
